I have been for a walk today with my kids in a lovely local forest area, it has designated walks, bird hides and ponds so it is meant to be used by all. But as we were walking around we noticed lots of dog mess bagged and hung on the trees!!!!!what the....! there are bins etc and even if not TAKE IT HOME its so disgusting.

Is this the new thing amongst dog walkers? Driving home we even saw someone do it at the local green!

Can you imagine in months to come the place is going to look like its been strangley decorated!Urgh!!

They are possibly collecting them on the return circuit, if there is a bin at the end of the walk.

katkouta · 09/10/2010 19:44

I have seen this in many places, dirty shits!
Why bother bagging it then leaving it on the side of the pavement?
They won't be collecting it at all, plus they shouldn't leave it there in the first place.

NorbertDentressangle · 09/10/2010 19:46

Its not new I'm afraid.

We live on some hills that are very popular with walker, ramblers, families, mountain bikers and dog walkers.

Unfortunately bags of dog shit hung on branches are a common sight Angry

MrsYamada · 09/10/2010 19:49

Someone does it on the corner of our street, (well, I assume the dog actually does the deed). It would actually be better if they just left it on the pavement as at least it might get washed away then.

Goblinchild · 09/10/2010 19:52

They are perhaps under the assumption that the dog shit fairy will whisk the bags away in the night?
If it were me, I'd magic the little gifts under their pillows.

ChasingSquirrels · 09/10/2010 19:53

I used to hate walking round with a swinging bag in my hand - so I put it in my pocket, and if I didn't have one I walked round with a swinging bag - tough on me. My dog, I clean up its shit.

I have recently been for dog walks with a couple of friends, who have both done the "hang it on a branch and pick it up on the way back" thing.
They both always pick it up on the way back.
Still horrifies me though.

Goblinchild · 09/10/2010 19:55

Spoils a lovely walk fir the rest of us, even if they do pick it up on the way back. I suppose it's similar to dumping dirty nappies in car parks.

musicmadness · 09/10/2010 20:56

I don't get people doing that. I always pick up after my dog and put it in the nearest bin. What is the point of bagging it then just leaving it on a branch Confused
Having said that I think I prefer the dog crap to the thong and used condom that were hanging on a branch in the park today .

BelleDameSansMerci · 09/10/2010 21:04

Bloody hell! It takes a lot to render me speechless but I think this has done it.

Ewwwwwww.

paisleyleaf · 09/10/2010 21:06

I keep seeing this recently too.

thisisyesterday · 09/10/2010 21:08

that's disgusting

some people used to do that around here, mainly becuase although there are bins they just aren't emptied frequently enough

i guess people got cross about the whole "you'll be fined if you leave dog mess lying about" and yet not having anywhere to put it because they never bothered emptying the bins.

haven't seen it for a while, and it is totally disgusting

autodidact · 09/10/2010 21:10

How utterly bizarre, unless they pick it up on way back as others have suggested. Seems very odd to have enough conscience and sense not to want other people to step in your dog's excrement but not enough to realise that many people are not likely to enjoy trees decorated with bags of shit...

HalfTermHero · 09/10/2010 21:13

Vile. Given that dog owners have been unable to police themselves, it should be compulsory for dogs to wear nappies if out in public!

Mumcentreplus · 09/10/2010 21:29

Why the heck are they doing that???

peeringintothevoid · 09/10/2010 21:32

This enrages me too. Hanging there like disgusting and macabre christmas decorations. Angry

Don't even get me started on people who don't pick up after their dogs, or leave the bags. Angry Angry I often walk my dog at a local beauty spot, and by the carpark there's a 'picnic area' - who would want to have a picnic there when it's strewn with dog shit? There aren't any bins provided, which is annoying because I have to drive home with the car stinking of the poo bag, but it's just what you do if you're a responsible dog owner. If we're out in the rough and the dog poos, I bury it or pick it up; I would never just leave it.

In the past I've always stopped non-poo-picker people and had a go at them, asking how they'd feel if their grandchild stepped in a steaming pile of crap. I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I don't say anything now, as I see those people regualarly and don't want to cause trouble. Blush It's really disgusting and antisocial.

peeringintothevoid · 09/10/2010 21:32

Oh, and pmsl laughing at Goblinchild's dog shit fairy.. Grin

piprabbit · 09/10/2010 21:39

There's an awful lot of bagged dog shit in the trees around where I live.
Going by the state of the bags it sits there for eternity months waiting for the bag to biodegrade.
And going by the position of the bags, I think the dirty buggers throw it as hard and as far as they can into the tree/hedge.

We have a lovely local country park - it's almost unusable by people with children due to the dog shit in trees, on paths, in grass etc. I can't risk a toddler falling over and rubbing it in his eyes.

So there's a vicious cycle - the park is almost exclusively used as a giant dog toilet as only dog walkers can tolerate the mess. Angry

MrsC2010 · 09/10/2010 22:15

I never got that. Actually picking up my dogs' warm poo is the worst bit of the task, after that carrying it along in its little scented bag is not that much of a horror?!

NorbertDentressangle · 09/10/2010 22:19

I also see quite a few bags of shite hanging from the rear wipers of cars.

On a positive note, at least the dog owners are taking it home with them but can you imagine if they accidently knock the rear wiper switch on. Yuk!

Used to happen a lot down a favourite lane for dog walkers. The hedge rows were hung with lots of bags full of dog poo.

It tured out that a few people used to bag it and then on returning to their car to return home they just threw it out of the window into the hedge as they drove past.

Where we live now somebody bags it then leaves it in the gutter outside our house to be squashed repeatedly by parked car wheels until the bag bursts - what is wrong with people?

Angry

Glad its not just me that thinks its yuk, if I had a dog it would never occur to me to do that!!!weird. Wonder if their homes are the same when they cant be bothered to put things away do they just hang stuff on the nearest door/hook/handle or walk round half dressed! ok am getting carried away will stop now Smile

Do hope though if any dog poo hanger upperers have read this it will make them think again!
