to think picking 10/10/10 as a SPECIAL day for your wedding is a bit silly

Well, I suppose it might make it a bitveasier to remember anniversaries. An Australian friend of mine in UK married on Anzac Day - lest he forget. But he did.....

salizchap · 09/10/2010 09:29

I can't remember my wedding date Shock, so it could be handy to know it. XH has the certificate, and it's a pain because I have to speak to him now for find out Angry

Psammead · 09/10/2010 09:29

I wouldn't have picked it personally because the numbers just don't appeal. 08/09/10 looks much nicer, for example.

It's just a bit binary

whatsleep · 09/10/2010 09:35

I think its a great idea, would make it easy to remember! we got married on the 9th september (9/9) for this very reason!

LadyBiscuit · 09/10/2010 09:37

Tis v auspicious apparently (so they said on the Today programme so it must be true :o)

Galena · 09/10/2010 10:01

We were 03/04/04. I always forget it!

RubberDuck · 09/10/2010 10:03

That sounds awesome! Damnit, why didn't we think of that...

Stretch · 09/10/2010 10:05

I would have preferred, 20/10/2010 Grin

FleurDelacour · 09/10/2010 10:11

I can totally understand it. I'd have loved to have got married on an interesting date but it was not to be.

I was looking forward to writing 10/10/10 on the board at school until I worked out it was on Sunday.

FranSanDisco · 09/10/2010 10:13

Dd's birthday is 10th October and she will be 10 yo this Sunday Grin. Gotta be a lucky one!

RustyBear · 09/10/2010 10:15

I got my degree on 7/7/77 and got engaged the same day.

I was diisappointed it wasn't a school day too, Fleur -we'll have to wait until 11/11/11, which is a Friday. 12/12/12 is a Wednesday and still in term time for most schools.

otchayaniye · 09/10/2010 12:14

i picked the day to have my c-section as my birthday, so I wouldn't forget Smile

Chinese doctors are awfully accommodating.

booyhoo · 09/10/2010 12:17

my cousin got married 09/09/09. i thought it was a rather nice idea. everyone remembers their anniversary. the wedding was very extravagent too so maybe that is why it is remembered.i dpn't know, it's only been a year so time will tell if it helps people remember.

MaMoTTaT · 09/10/2010 12:18

I was a bit disappointed that DS3 was early he was due on 05/06/07 Grin

scrappydappydoo · 09/10/2010 12:19

We got married in the year 2000 so dh will always remember how long we've been married Grin

choccyp1g · 09/10/2010 12:25

How does it help you remember though?
If you get married on 10/10/10, the anniversary is on 10/10/11 then 10/10/12 etc. so remembering gets harder every year.

ben5 · 09/10/2010 12:26

dh is 38 on the 10/10/10!!!
he's going to be at work and has had his pressie!

booyhoo · 09/10/2010 12:27

well, you know the anniversary is going to be at some point in 2011/2012/2013 etc, but if it was all a novlety at the time of 10/10/10 tehn you are going to remember that and tehn will be able to work it out teh next year aren't you?

thumbwitch · 09/10/2010 12:29

I have a friend who married on 08/08/08 - I thought it was good going, actually!

Soooo - YABU.

otchayaniye · 09/10/2010 12:31

when I lived in China the number of sections performed on 08/08/08 was astronomical. They must have been doing them round the clock. For the Chinese '8' is the luckiest number of all.

NannyBeth · 09/10/2010 12:32

My friends birthday is Sept 11 - she loves it as no one ever forgets!! haha

BalloonSlayer · 09/10/2010 12:37

When do you ever have to give the date of your wedding though, in full?

Apart from getting divorced (and it is fair to assume that by then the date is not quite so special for you) or proving to the palace that you have been married for 50 years to get your telegram from the Queen.

booyhoo · 09/10/2010 12:42

you don't have to give it but if you are into celebrating anniversaries then it is helpful to know what date to celebrate.

A1980 · 09/10/2010 12:53

One of my friends chose 11 September to get married on. The were huge discounts for venues on that day as no one wanted to have that as their anniversary.

I can't beleive she told people that!

withorwithoutyou · 09/10/2010 12:55

We got married on DH's birthday - he has no excuse!
