A1980 - yeah a friend of mine did the same thing!

hocuspontas · 09/10/2010 13:05

I think 10 past 8 on the evening of the 20th would be better - 20:10 20/10/2010.

hogshead · 09/10/2010 14:19

My ds arrived on 09/09/09 very memorable!

bandgeek · 09/10/2010 14:52

I got taken into hospital on 04/05/05 with pre-eclampsia with DS and was desperate for him to be born the next day, but alas, he came on 08/05/05.

Ask me his date of birth and I will hesitate before I give the answer Blush

Stretch · 09/10/2010 14:57

DD2 was born on 06/06/05, if I had waited a year she would heve been the devil child Grin

Hmm- actually, she is!! Grin

Getting married on a day like 4/4/04 or 10/10/10 is a big tradition in Germany, where it is called a 'Schnaps day'. Our next-door neigbours got married on 5/5/05 and had to do the ceremony at some weird time because all the other slots that day were booked up.

Rockbird · 09/10/2010 15:14

We waited to get married in 2000. Just seemed like a nice idea, glad we did. Don't know why but I like it.

SurreyAmazon · 09/10/2010 17:06

Sometimes dates do mean something!

Camilla and Charles wanted to get married on 08.04.05 which is the only day that a total solar eclipse would take place in 2005. (interestingly, Camilla wore a wheat sprig growing on her head which is a symbol of rebirth and uniting of two opposites).

Beyonce and Jay-Z got married on 04.04.08 (4+4=8) so 8 and 8 to signify infinity.

Rusty Bear you are a kindred spirit Grinregarding fun dates, I bet you celebrate Pi Day and Star Wars Day too.

ISNT · 09/10/2010 17:18

"Camilla wore a wheat sprig growing on her head"

Really? Good lord!

Honestly, our local radio station interviewed someone getting married tomorrow at 10.am when apparently she becomes Mrs Tenn. Grin.

LabMonkey · 09/10/2010 20:01

We got married on my birthday and lots of people find that weird but it makes us happy.

My good friend from school is getting married tomorrow as she's got a bit of a number thing.

DC1 is due May 6th 2011 but we're holding out for May 4th (sorry I'm a big fan) although if it happens I have vetoed the names Luke and Leia.

Less relevant but 20:10 20/10/2010 is when Girl Guides around the world will be remaking their promise to celebrate the centenary of Guiding.

Adair · 09/10/2010 20:07

We got married 07/07/07. And chose a bit of a 'lucky' theme and making your own luck, and that.

I still forget the date though Grin

CultureMix · 09/10/2010 20:36

We got married on a fairly unmemorable date but have it engraved inside our wedding rings along with both our first names (a French tradition) so easy to check! Which is helpful as my lovely DH always remembers our wedding anniversary so I need to make sure I don't Blush.

RustyBear · 09/10/2010 20:36

You're not a librarian by any chance, are you Fleur? I remember the entire cataloguing department at Kent County Library HQ counting down to 12.34 on 5/6/78....

FleurDelacour · 10/10/2010 12:00

Nope just a maths teacher Rusty.

Lonnie · 10/10/2010 12:10

I think its a pretty neat date it is not something I would personally pick for a wedding date (we got married 3rd Feb 96) but I know that when I in my job get told babies birthdays if they are something like

10/10/10 I comment Oh thats nice and easy (or one I had recently 8/9/10 ) I find it amusing and fun so whats the harm?

So yes OP I think YABU

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/10/2010 12:18

last year friend got married 09 09 09

year before another friend 08 08 08

and yes even year before that 07 07 07

no one this year Grin

esselle · 10/10/2010 12:20

My cousin got married a couple of years ago on New Years Eve which was also his new wifes 30th birthday.

He is pretty pleased with himself that he only has one day to remember and it is already a big one!

Tigerbomb · 10/10/2010 14:41

We got married at Halloween. An easy date to remember Smile

Habbibu · 10/10/2010 14:52

Stretch, one of dd's friends was born on 06/06/06. Apparently the ward was quiet, as A Lot of people had asked not to have elective sections on that day.

PatriciaHolm · 10/10/2010 15:32

We got married on 05/04/03 - not deliberately, but it does mean DH stands an outside chance of remembering....

Tee2072 · 10/10/2010 16:37

We were married on 04/09/04 because I like the symmetry!!

fartblossom · 10/10/2010 18:10

Someone who I once worked with went to a wedding on xmas day (dont know how the bride and groom managed THAT one)

Also DD was born on xmas day and I have a friend who gave birth on 06/06/06 Of course there were the obvious name jokes (ie is Damian/Carrie etc)

Ive also got friends who got married on halloween.
