The weekend of the 16th is Star Trek weekend on Channel 4. So AIBU to want to lock myself in the bedroom with plenty of beer and takeaway menus (with a telly of course)
All the 10 movies are being shown and this will be a real Trekkie feast

I dont ask for much

Are you going to give her the weekend after off? If the answer is yes then YANBU, if no then YABU.

phipps · 07/10/2010 20:21

YANBU.

cupcakesandbunting · 07/10/2010 20:22

YABU. Start Trek is for mouthbreathers.

thisisyesterday · 07/10/2010 20:22

as long as she gets a weekend off in return!

gothicmama · 07/10/2010 20:23

not so long as you give mrs cyborg week end at a spa or a weekend to do what she chooses in return. I would also suggest a nice family outing this week end, ironing and dish washing and perhaps cooking tea (cleaning up afterwards of course) Grin

KittyFoyle · 07/10/2010 20:23

If I were locked in a room with Star Trek and beer I would lose the will to live. I think I would lose the will if I were married to a bloke who thought that sounded like fun too. BUt if you are a big fan and a good DH I don't see whay not. Just make sure you give her a weekend to indulge in her thing in exchange.

bran · 07/10/2010 20:23

Are you my DH? [narrows eyes] I want to do that too (women can be geeks too). Perhaps I can ship the kids off to my parents. Wink

cyborg · 07/10/2010 20:25

I will be going to Manchester Airport on sat with the kids so she can have the day off
I believe in going to places with the kids that I enjoy
A train ride,aeroplanes,(1 pint of beer for me) and fish and chips for the kids sorted

Regular 'weekends off' are essential for parents. Just make sure you;re not the only one in the house who gets them and there's nothing wrong with it at all.

cyborg · 07/10/2010 20:30

gothicmama
the only ironing we do is for DW when she has to look smart at meetings and then she does it.I tried ironing a shirt once and only managed the sleeves. It is bloody tricky

BigOfNoorks · 07/10/2010 20:30

Can I lock myself in there to away from my dc if so YANBU but if I cant watch the trek fest then YADBU Grin

ChaoticAngel · 07/10/2010 20:30

Sorry the day off isn't good enough. If you want the weekend off then she gets a weekend off.

cupcakesandbunting · 07/10/2010 20:33

"I believe in going to places with the kids that I enjoy"

Ooh, me too. That's why you'll often find DS (aged 3) propped up at the bar of Mojito Loco Grin

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 07/10/2010 20:33

Who will be getting the kids up, fed, washed and dressed on Saturday? Who'll be feeding them when you get home, and who is likely to be rushing round with a hoover while you're out? Nah, she gets a whole weekend if you do. Grin

ValiumSingleton · 07/10/2010 20:36

That's fine so long as you can hold the fort when she takes a weekend off...

and i agree with Chaotic, a weekend for a weekend. You can't expect her to be happy with a day!

thisisyesterday · 07/10/2010 20:38

agree. day out is NOT a fair exchange!

cyborg · 07/10/2010 20:41

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 07/10/2010 20:42

Sorry, I was being lazy (unlike you, it seems; my apologies) and do normally say "vacuum" for precisely those reasons. Blush

But it's still a weekend for a weekend!

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 07/10/2010 20:43

(Is yours a Dyson, then? Grin)

AnyFucker · 07/10/2010 20:43

Swedes2 · 07/10/2010 20:44
