She just gets on my nerves so much !!

OP posts:
belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/10/2010 00:02

I'd be serious if I was earning her money!

jtop · 03/10/2010 00:04

Val, I dont think Nigella is ever likely to read this. And she does not strike me as the kind of person who would care if she did.

OP posts:
belledechocolatefluffybunny · 03/10/2010 00:08

It's not about that jtop. Nigella isn't a stick insect, it's out of order to refer to any woman as a cow, whether they will see it or not.

Valpollicella · 03/10/2010 00:11

No, she's not likely to read this. But its still nasty to call another woman 'bovine'

FoundWanting · 03/10/2010 00:12

Love Nigella's books. Also liked her writing years ago in The Guardian (iirc) about beauty.

Can't watch her, even for a minute.

Will never, ever trust a skinny chef/cook after a Garry Rhodes dinner party disaster.

BuntyPenfold · 03/10/2010 00:19

I don't think she is a fool.

I do think all the licking and sucking with sideways looks at the camera is repulsive though. And oh-so-predictable now.

She needs a new gesture - maybe folding her arms to push up her boobs and leaning over towards the lens. What do you think? Wink

chilipepper27 · 03/10/2010 01:14

I wouldn't want to eat her food incase it had dandruff In it from all the hair flicking she does , she is beautiful but all the sexy glances/finger licking she does seems a bit false

jameelaq · 03/10/2010 01:24

She is an awful dog of the first ordr as confirmed by my DH and all his friends. Anyone who thinks she is remotely attractive is a lesbian. Endof.

midlandsmumof4 · 03/10/2010 01:24

Think its very unfair to call her Bovine. She comes across as very patronising though. Very upper class but trying not to be. Doesn't work though

jameelaq · 03/10/2010 01:26

No chilipeper she is not attractive, she just thinks she is. Which now you come to mention it is what all the mags say you should do if you feel that you aren't. Fuck me you would go mad thinking about this!

jameelaq · 03/10/2010 01:28

Pure vomit in the sense of womanhood

Mowiol · 03/10/2010 01:46

"She is an awful dog of the first ordr as confirmed by my DH and all his friends. Anyone who thinks she is remotely attractive is a lesbian. Endof."

My DH (of 27 years) must be a lesbian then - how odd that I've not picked up on this.

Nigella is Rubenesque - and very attractive to men and women.

How nasty to call her "an awful dog" and "pure vomit in the sense of womanhood".

You must be such an oil painting jameelaq to criticise another person like that Hmm

Actually I am tall and slim - always have been. But that is totally irrelevant.
Err - my young husband? He is my husband of 27 years - this means we have been married for 27 years!! Duh!
He is a "macho" man as men of that generation are.
How sad that you feel the need to attack others who have a different view and be insulting with regard to people's appearance.
It may be a cliche but beauty really is only skin deep. I doubt that yours extends beyond the epidermis.

Heracles · 03/10/2010 02:26

I think she's hot, but her programmes are rather pointless; which is no different to 95% of TV, really...

kickassangel · 03/10/2010 02:37

hmm, i also find the seduction of camera just over the top & vomit worthy. and, yes, i'm sure she does work, but she did have a LOT of contacts & money to get her started & into tv to begin with, rather than working for years in a kitchen & learning about nutrition etc.

also, watched part of her 'express' programme - she opened five or six packets/jars/tins, mixed it together, then claimed to have made dinner. no love, that's called unwrapping, and most kids get the hang of it by age 2.

sorry, not a fan. have also had some really disgusting food made from her recipes (and i know the cook stuck to directions given), a couple of nice ones, and mostly ok-ish ones.

massivemammaries · 03/10/2010 06:36

YABVVVVU it is very unfair on the cows for you to compare them with such a lifeform. I shall report you to the RSPCA for breaching their fundamental bovine rights

seeker · 03/10/2010 07:32

Can't bear all that faux sexy licking of things.

Can't bear all that "oh, I raid the fridge at midnight just like you proles" stuff.

Can't bear the subtext that women have to be sexy and groomed at all times - even when making the kids tea.

Can't bear the fact that her image is just a very up market version of the out of control greedy stereotype (remember the programme where she made honeycomb toffee to take to a party as a present and ate it all in the taxi on the way there?)

Can't bear the way she says Christ-Tmas (Ok - verging on the irrational with that one)

And her recipes are very hit or miss.

crazycanuck · 03/10/2010 07:46

No no no, his name is Hugh Fearlessly Eatsitall.

diddl · 03/10/2010 07:56

I also find her very annoying & patronising.

Does she still always wear a cardi/denim jacket?

NormaSknockers · 03/10/2010 07:57

I love Nigella. I swear by her recipes & tbh if I looked that good swishing around the kitchen in a slinky nightie whilst cooking up a storm I'd bloody well do it too!

I think I actually have a small crush on her....but that might just be because I'm currently full of Nigella brownies & in a very relaxed, brownie haze [dopey relaxed smile]

5DollarShake · 03/10/2010 08:14

DH thinks she's gaw-jus.

Nigella's fab and her cake and dessert recipes are the biz.

Faaamily · 03/10/2010 08:18

I love her. Yes, she's a smug smuggins smuggard. But she's loaded, attractive and gets to spend her days making (and eating) nice food. Course she's smug.

I'll take her over most TV 'chefs'.

massivemammaries · 03/10/2010 08:19

I think this is a great thread and the title sums her up brilliantly but she is nowhere near as annoying as Trinny and Susannah

Faaamily · 03/10/2010 08:25

Why is she bovine? Sounds like you are a bit canine, OP.
