Sorry for the expletive. I'm just doing some admin and have discovered that you can convert your vouchers into discount vouchers for all sort of things. I agree it's a nice perk to get them converted to Sainsburys, ELC, etc and it's good but a slight stretch to have them go towards clothing at Gap and New look but you can also get Spa vouchers and bloody pub vouchers! Why should people get tax free bloody vouchers to use them on a sodding manicure and getting pissed? Not that I have anything against either of those activities I just think it's a shocking waste of money! And why should people without kids effectively pay towards this???
I am fuming. Someone give me a name to be mad at!

Chil1234 · 29/09/2010 15:31

What's a childcare voucher?...

Hullygully · 29/09/2010 15:34

Something you can spend down the pub when you're a bit short

BorisTheBold · 29/09/2010 15:41

Really....which voucher scheme allows this?

nitabob · 29/09/2010 15:45

This is not correct. Childcare vouchers can only be used with carers registered through Ofsted (or equivalent). The parent will save tax and NI on these vouchers by taking them as part of their salary.

Who told you they could be converted to shopping vouchers because they really can't?

Chil1234 · 29/09/2010 15:45

Are you mixing them up with Nectar points?

scurryfunge · 29/09/2010 15:47

Ooooh, can I some of those vouchers please?

GetOrfMoiLand · 29/09/2010 15:48

She has got them mixed up with Tesco vouchers, bless her.

Ladder · 29/09/2010 15:48

surely this cannot be so?

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 29/09/2010 15:49

i certain never do this! cant believe i missed out on years at the spa rather than paying nursery fees Hmm

FoghornLeghorn · 29/09/2010 15:51

Surely not Hmm

nitabob · 29/09/2010 15:52

Guess clutterqueen is offline now as there is no response.

Clearly they got the wrong end of the stick and have misinterpeted their findings!!

loopyloops · 29/09/2010 15:52

coraltoes · 29/09/2010 15:54

um this seems highly unlikely (wonders if worth being unemployed to get these and spend days in the pub with LO sucking on a gin soaked ice-cube)

loopyloops · 29/09/2010 15:56

I do apologise, we're doing google image search for people's names on another thread, i was looking at this thread and posted in the wrong one. just ignore me! Blush

sapphireblue · 29/09/2010 15:56

er........you can't use childcare vouchers down the pub. Or any other eating or retail establishment.

ShadeofViolet · 29/09/2010 15:57

Are you sure?

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 29/09/2010 15:58

surely this MUST be wrong???

lal123 · 29/09/2010 16:09

I don't think this is part of the official gov scheme - but a quick google shows that some companies do offer discount schemes etc in conjunction with childcare voucher schemes.

mrsunreasonable · 29/09/2010 16:10

ofgs what are you on about woman of course you can't! Childcare vouchers can only be used for payment towards childcare at an ofsted registered place. Find me an ofsted registered pub and I'll be there like a shot!

firsttimemum77 · 29/09/2010 16:11

This is true. I get childcare vouchers through my salary sacrifice scheme at work for payment towards my dds nursery and am forever getting emails from the company about bring able to use the vouchers for all sorts of other stuff! Which I never intend to btw as they are for payment towards nursery costs.

Basically through your salary you can have deducted a max of £243 a month which is converted to vouchers and are tax and ni free.

DanceInTheDark · 29/09/2010 16:11

Of course you can swap them.......for childcare
