how much more does your dp earn than you?

my my dp earns twice much as i do, but hes in a skilled job, im not sure if hes a professional though....

does your dp earn more than you or the other way round? and if so how much more?

When I worked, I earned best part of £5k more than DH.

I never went to college, was a self-taught analyst at the bottom pecking order of a highly skilled team. DH went to college, and is a supervisor for a help-desk team within a conveyancing firm.

My mum earns approx £8-10k more than my dad. I know my mum's salary, but not my dad's. I think my dad would be classed a skilled labourer, mum works in an office.

I earn 5x my DH's salary. He works longer hours than me. I had the benefit of a university education and now have a career in the City. He had very little education and few opportunities growing up and now works in a factory.

About 3 grand. We are both badly paid.

50k less than me

He is a manager and I'm not that's the biggest difference in our salaries right now, when I qualify then things will even up.
I suspect he'll retire before me though, he's 10 years older and has a nice pension where as I have about £3k at the moment

DH earns just less than 2x my salary and we have exactly the same job title but he works for a city law firm and I work in-house. I therefore skip the 2 hours commute a day and silly last minute requests for work and have a lot more flexibility over days/ hours and location. I also have a final salary pension, he doesn't.

Up until DD was born, we earned exactly the same. I deliberately chose not to go back into the city job I'd gone on maternity leave from, and we moved out of London to be nearer my family so I knew it would be a pay cut for me and I was happy to do that. DH would have also been happy to do it but had more difficulty finding a job as too experienced (and therefore expensive) now.

DH and I are in similar jobs and our FT basic salaries are about the same. My company pays more in benefits (bonuses, car allowances etc) so my FT total pay would be about 50% again.

We both work PT though and I do fewer ours so our actual take home pay is similar.

Interesting thread. My DH is 10 years older than me & when I had dd1 his salary was 5 times mine BUT at same age, his had been pretty much same as mine.

I have made no career progression since first mat leave including some time as sahm. Dd1 is now 7 and I'm getting back into career mode but at similar level as I was 7 years ago. Don't imagine our salaries will ever be on par again....

I'm with shineoncrazydiamond - what's the AIBU query here? Am sure it makes for fascinating research, but I'm very disappointed as we are unlikely to get mention of a MIL in this thread

Lst tiem I was in employment I earned more than him, about £2 per hour more.

DH earns about £60,000 more than me.

I'm on a good wage but he earns twice as much as me atm.

I wish - I earn about double DP's salary. It's a drag - I'll never get to be a SAHM, not even for a couple of years (and yes I would like to do it for a couple of years esp now #2 is on the way)

DH earns twice what I do, but we are in totally different professions and he works in the private sector, I work in the public sector. When I go back to work I'll be going p/t so the disparity will increase.

Am not stalking you, shineoncrazydiamond but I completely agree. AIBU to suggest this is the most dull thread I've read in AIBU?

Before we had kids I was earning £70-80k more than him as he is in a badly paid industry and I was working as a high level contractor. I took a couple of years off to have kids and then took a lower-paid job to get myself positioned in a different sector. He has moved job and is now better paid so I only earn £7k more than him but I work less days. I would envisage that in a couple of years time as I progress in this new role I'll be back to earning about £50-60k more than him.

dh is a sahd so i earn more.i earn bugger all really but its still more.

My DH and I are in similar proffesional jobs, with similar qualifications. I also have a PhD, but that counts for very little in our field.

I used to earn about £3K a year more than him.
Now I earn about £10K a year less than him, buy I also now only work 3 days a week.

He used to be quite envious of my "cushy" life, until in spent a week on holiday with DS! (Bonkers, high energy 2 year old).

Clearly, as a professional, I should know how to spell professional.

I earns loads more than Dh - simply down to choice of sectors. He is local government whereas I am professionally qualified financial services sector.
