Dad ogling pg 3 girls in playground

Strolled into school this morning with DS1 (6) to find a dad "reading" pg 3 of the Sun ( norks were in full view of the Year 2 line up ).

I thought this a tad inappropriate and asked him to turn the page, but he was really put out and huffed and puffed at me.

Tell me I was not being unreasonable.

Yabu.how do you know e was exited.did u look at es below? [Hmm]

MinaHarker · 21/09/2010 16:01

Oh FGS unclench. There's more on p3 than boobs you know, not least the very very funny and ironic 'quotes' from the lovely ladies (this week I believe Kellie from Essex was quoting Cardinal Newman Confused).

Disclaimer: my husband and I both read the Guardian, but reserve our judgeypants for when truly required.

talcum2 · 21/09/2010 16:01

Thats disgraceful. I hope you reported him to the school principle.

Ladyanonymous · 21/09/2010 16:01

Agree totally with clumsymum

anotherglass · 21/09/2010 16:03

I didn't say there was anything wrong with what he was doing. Just where he was doing it.

YADefNBU

Just yuck.

But then I have a secret judge of anyone holding a copy of the Sun/Sport/Star

Baileysismyfriend · 21/09/2010 16:08

YABU - have you ever actually looked at page 3 in The Sun?

There are stories on that page as well so he could have just been reading.

Clumsymum · 21/09/2010 16:08

"The dad must have been receiving some sexual gratification from the picture (albeit low level) otherwise why would he have been staring at it for so long"

Well he might be a photographer, looking at the picture and thinking "bloody hell, they messed up the lighting on that",

Or a plstic surgeon, thinking "bloody hell, they messed up the nipples on those"

Grin
spiritmum · 21/09/2010 16:13

I read the title thread and wondered why there were page three girls in your school playground.

YANBU. Not appropriate for school.

BuckBuckMcFate · 21/09/2010 16:15

If he was in the yard with an A4 size photograph of a woman with naked breasts would that be ok? H

Are the YABUers happy with the covers of newspapers like the Star and the Sport being at children's eye level in the majority of newsagents too?

TheBountyMuncher · 21/09/2010 16:16

Clumsymum Grin
Or a make-up artist thinking "far too much eyeliner on those eyes"

Ladyanonymous · 21/09/2010 16:16

Some of the mums in my kids first school playground sometimes dressed like pg 3 girls, this annoyed me more...

TheBountyMuncher · 21/09/2010 16:20

Or was it Nick Tilsley from Corrie wondering if there was a problem with his stock.
Sorry... will shush now.

sethstarkaddersmum · 21/09/2010 16:20

YADNBU, completely unacceptable and offensive to do that in an environment women have to go into and most certainly one with children in.

It is extremely bad manners to look at soft porn in public. You do it in the privacy of your own home.

Well done for challenging him.

LynetteScavo · 21/09/2010 16:23

YANBU.

pagwatch · 21/09/2010 16:24

Or Gok Wan thinking
That G-string is completely the wrong cut for her shape and it needs some old shit sew on somewhere to constitute Gok Magic. I know , I have this muffin....'

Ladyanonymous · 21/09/2010 16:25

Is there a "soft porn" etiquette is there? Hmm is pg 3 really "soft porn"? Has anyone seen a pop video recently? Hmm

anotherglass · 21/09/2010 16:25

Thank you sethstarkaddersmum.

Maybe he was reading something on page 2. Hmm

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 21/09/2010 16:27

I'm amazed at so many YABUs. Whatever your attitude to pg 3 surely on general principle pornified images are not the thing to take to your child's school?

YADNBU, I am fully aware that there is also news etc on pg 3, but it seems a bit worrying that he can't see the inappropriateness of waving topless photos around in the playground.

Everyone who's not bothered - would you be just as relaxed if the school organised a couple of burlesque dancers to come in and perform at the end of term assembly?

anotherglass · 21/09/2010 16:29

Ladyanonymous, are you really arguing that it's okay to have norks and nipples on display in the school yard? What if the teacher started to wave pg 3 about the classroom? Would you draw the line?
