to have reported a neighbours un-taxed car

I have this morning reported a neighbours car for not having a valid tax disc. And I am secretly hoping the car is either clamped or towed away and crushed!

This bloody car blocks peoples driveways and parks on the verge outside my next door neighbours house all the time and is so close to the end of my dropped kerb I cant always get my off the driveway.

My DH has been over to ask the owners to move the car recently and the girl told him to fuck off or she would put the windows through on our car!

YANBU

PrivetDancer · 17/09/2010 10:05

yanbu, sounds very annoying.
I expect they'll just get a fine / warning though, sorry!
But who knows, maybe they aren't insured either, in which case it might be towed away.

veyron · 17/09/2010 10:10

PrivetDancer - That would make my day, especially if it's the same situation with their other cars! they have 3 in total, all of which are really badly parked etc.

I might go out later and look at all their tax discs! Grin

YANBU

If the car isn't taxed I am not sure any insurance they have is valid and being hit by an uninsured driver is a pain in the arse.

How out of date is the disc? I only ask because I taxed my car on line and popped the disc in my glovebox to change at the beginning of the next month then forgot for 3 weeks. A check with the DVLA would have shown my vehicle as taxed and the Policeman that spotted it (walked past when I was parked) just laughted and watched while I put the disc in, I didn't get into trouble.

AMumInScotland · 17/09/2010 10:10

YANBU - if its not taxed its also not insured, so if they do cause an accident there'll be no cover. They should not be on the road untaxed.

veyron · 17/09/2010 10:12

Tax ran out in July.

I think you're being a bit of a snitch, tbh. But can see why it might piss you off if it's always badly parked.

veyron · 17/09/2010 10:17

Yes I am being a snitch (on this occasion) Usually I don't do anything like that, I keep my nose well and truly out. But on this occasion, I really couldn't help myself!

OP posts:
cupcakesandbunting · 17/09/2010 10:20

You're a right bloody snitch, OP. You ought to be ashamed of yourself!

But don't be because it sounds like the PITA deserves it. I would do the same. I love snitching, I do Grin

BootyMum · 17/09/2010 10:22

YANBU. Do it!

echt · 17/09/2010 10:25

Why the snitch stuff?: no tax = no insurance.

Perhaps it'll take such a person to kill a kid on the road to get some posters to stop being so snooty.

Dob the fecker in.

gorionine · 17/09/2010 10:26

YA a tiny bit U because you did it out of revenge for blocking your driveway and being rude to you, rather than out of concern for society IYSWIM. Had they not blocked your driway you probably would not have done it.

YellowDaffodil · 17/09/2010 10:26

July - It's possible they have not taxed the car because it is not Insured or MOT'd.
You may be a snitch but I would be too in your position.

veyron · 17/09/2010 10:29

gorionine - yes you are right, i did do it out of spite, but I really don't care this time.

Piss me off I will get my own back eventually Grin

PrivetDancer · 17/09/2010 10:41

I think the motives make it more reasonable!

If you had just happened to notice a random car in the street and reported it, that would be petty. This, however, serves them right.

If they don't consider other people when parking and tell people to fuck off and threaten them when asked to move, they sound like low-lifes and the sort of people to not bother with insurance either.

Let us know if you see the car being towed!

echt · 17/09/2010 10:44

What does the motive matter?

If someone is injured or killed by one of these arses, they're uninsured.

FFS!!

veyron · 17/09/2010 10:45

PrivetDancer - Thanks, I was so shocked and really Angry when my DH came in and told me what the girl had said. I was so shocked I was about to go over there until DH pointed out I was in fact 33 weeks pregnant and also still had my hair sectioning clips in as I was in the process of straightening my hair.

What a sight that would have been!

In the name of the blood of the lamb.

NordicPrincess · 17/09/2010 10:50

i wouldnt have done it. theyl probebly know it was you that said something anyway, and as shes already threatened to break your windows...

lal123 · 17/09/2010 10:55

I think reporting them is a bit pointless - DVLA will be aware that the vehicle is untaxed already

QS · 17/09/2010 10:59

I did that.
My neighbour had gone to France, and left her car behind. For years. Parked outside my my house. It got towed.

Somebody dumped an untaxed car outside our house, I reported that too, and it got towed.

Power to the snitches!! Grin

Wink
veyron · 17/09/2010 10:59

NordicPrincess I think it was an empty threat that she made tbh, I'm not worried about about the threat in the slightest nor am I going to be intimidated by a racist gobshite teenager. Also the other 6 or so households that their parking effects have been over to complain about their parking. Thanks for the heads up tho.

PrivetDancer · 17/09/2010 11:10

Although if you do actually have a veyron I might keep it in the garage for a bit.

veyron · 17/09/2010 11:36

I wish I did have a veyron!

Actually I have done the opposite of that, I have done what all the other annoyed residents are doing and have started parking on the road even though I have a drive way for 4 cars! Just getting my point across that I wont be struggling to get off my driveway any longer.

OP posts:
Anenome · 17/09/2010 11:39

YANBU because they sound like they're not good citizens anyway! Be careful though...they may suspect you!
