This Evening radio 2 played the top 100 million selling singles and the no 1 was Candle in the wind which was Elton Johns tribute to Princess Diane
I have not heard this song for 12 yrs and it brought back many strange memories of a strange week
I remember walking through the village to my mums on the day of her funeral and it was deserted (no cars, empty shops) and who still remembers Eltons twitching eyebrow as he played the song at her funeral

sorrento56 · 30/08/2010 19:47

Before Diana died my DH played Candle in the Wind in a piano shop on our first date and it has been our song ever since.

Jasonthunderpants · 30/08/2010 19:49

I didnt know her or really care about her , but the whole week was really odd

Meh, I don't really remember, I was only 14! Don't like the song much either...

SandStorm · 30/08/2010 20:12

Didn't care for her when she was alive, don't care for her now.

I do remember my brother had been to stay and he drove home on the day of the funeral - he said he'd never had a quicker journey!

CaptainKirksNipples · 30/08/2010 20:12

Oh didn't realise it was a jasonthunderpants thread. I'll leave before the horrendous flirting starts. I don't get it Confused

14 Envy

I was on a tacky tasteful 'girly'holiday and was v drunk when I heard.

It is one of those 'what were you doing when...' moments

onepieceoflollipop · 30/08/2010 20:24

How's the pepper situation Jason? Any resolution? Grin

hormonesnomore · 30/08/2010 20:25

My SIL went into labour on the day of Diana's funeral.

When she arrived at the hospital, a midwife told her that they were observing a two minute silence and would she like to join them in watching the funeral on tv or listen to it on the radio? Hmm

I will let you imagine her response.

cupcakesandbunting · 30/08/2010 20:32

Cheeky sod. I'm sure that I hadn't had my raw garlic gargle that night...

Jasonthunderpants · 30/08/2010 20:33

I have given up with the peppers
In hindsight I think I should of just let it go. I dont want to look foolish
or just plain sad
