the thread titles are all so serious and worthy and make me feel frivolous and unsisterly.

you are both pompous and grandiose with such sweeping generalisations

"You're all unwittingly collaborating with the patriarchy

hey i presume you dont include yourself sista?is you just too very clever? unlike all us other sheep?

have a word with yourself what a bumptious over bearing post. how dare you ascribe a whole attitudinal belief to others

scottishmummy · 30/08/2010 00:42

you say self-appointed few decide to ignore dissent?

"During the um, inauguration of the Feminist board, I seem to recall that a general consensus was met by a few of the more prolific posters. It was pretty much agreed that opposing opinions would be ignored..."

exactly Who and when was that wee rule agreed.are y'all in agreement?

how very illiberal, vain and oppressive of other posters

stop waffling, more about the ignore dissenters rule?how does that fit spirit of mn as discursive forum?so "prolific posters" decree ignore the proles and y'all do?

duh?isnt that a spin upon someone in power (patriarchy) decrees majority opinion

so let me get this, some bigger burds told you all to ignore opposing opinions?and people bought this?really?

so if that is the case (and i await further corroboration) apparently a fair few subsumed selves to the whims of prolific posters

and you bellyache about oppression by menz?is it a sweeter oppression when prolific poster tells you what to do?

tortoiseonthehalfshell · 30/08/2010 01:00

Scottish, Shrieking is being sarcastic - and making shit up, frankly. She is not a fan of the Feminism section.

This whole "prolific posters said to ignore people" claim is utter bollocks.

Damn men! They're almost as dastardly as...... Americans :)

Some feminism threads I agree with and get into, others I don't. Same as any other MN topic, I suppose. But I don't feel I've ever been ignored really.

scottishmummy · 30/08/2010 01:58

i wasnt ignored i was called antifeminist & troll

GothAnneGeddes · 30/08/2010 02:11

I'm a hijab wearing Muslim woman and I still consider myself a feminist and post on the feminism topic.

I'm not a rad fem (which doesn't mean I think rad fem is without merits).

Tbh, the most depressing thing I've found on it has been an outbreak of transphobia, but it's been great seeing people counter that.

Catitainahatita · 30/08/2010 04:20

It's just a thought, but if you really want to let the "feminists" know how you think, it might be an idea to start a thread on that board?

Rather than slagging them off behing their back as if we were all at high school?

Hide the board if you like. Don't hide it. It's up to you: nobody is forcing you to see it. If you think they're being dogmatic and not listening, tell them so, and often. You won't change things whispering behind their backs.

But above all, please be coherent: for people complaining about how badly you have been treated by other people, you are hardly occupying the high moral ground.

PS. I haven't been on the feminist board: but am one... I would probably be there if I had the time

Appletrees · 30/08/2010 08:08

It's hardly behind anyone's back.
