The
government announce that they are going to give £60 MILLION to
Pakistan, We have Troops at war in iraq & afganistan without proper
equipment..... Yet we donate millions to other countries before helping
our own first...99% of people on facebook won't have the guts to copy
...and repost this!!! WILL YOU, I thought charity be began at home...

ive commented. i think i may lose some FB "friends" but ffs.

how can people be this callous? so people would watch children die and stick to these warped principles than give a couple of quid??

aibu? really?

All FB is shite and from what I can tell is populated by mad people, madly displaying their madness.

But as it happens, YANBU. Think there's another thread on this tho.

So you think it's ok for our troops to die through lack of equipment do you?

Are you convinced donations get through a corrupt goernment to help those in need?

Karmann · 26/08/2010 22:58

government

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/08/2010 22:59

Yeah - I hate thise status updates, bollox for uneducated numpties. Sheep the lot of them.

2shoes · 26/08/2010 23:00

yabu
already another thread on this
who really cares about a FB status

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/08/2010 23:02

karmann of course i dont. but i also dont think its right to ignore major disasters and let people die for some warped idea of...what exactly?
so you would just leave people to die? thats better is it?

donations via red cross and reputable charities are getting to where they need to be.

OP posts:
loopyloops · 26/08/2010 23:03

This thread already exists!

iwasyoungonce · 26/08/2010 23:04

YANBU.

DuelingFanjo · 26/08/2010 23:04

it's the 'helping our own' bollox which makes it shite IMO.

Clearly the poor people in Pakistan beed help more than people who chose to join the army.

teamWatson · 26/08/2010 23:05

I read today, due to the hurricaine Katrina programme tonight that the flood in Pakistan is worse than all the latest natural disasters around the world rolled togeather.

I think it IS disgusting that our troops are not given the correct tools to do the work in hand but the floods in Pakistan are a natural disaster so came from no where with no action or supprt in place, they really are at this point in the worse possible place in the world through no fault or choice of their own.

Two different subjects in my opinion.

Karmann · 26/08/2010 23:05

Not at all. Have no problem giving to all major disasters but the problem is that most of their governments are corrupt and the help does not get through. Best give donations to charities that actually work for the good of the people.

ThatVikRinA22 · 26/08/2010 23:06

didnt realise....sorry. just had a facebook status that engraged me....

OP posts:
Marjee · 26/08/2010 23:06

Yanbu I hate these stupid cut and paste statuses. Whatever your opinion on the iraq war how can you begrudge those innocent people basic food and medicine ffs Angry

Karmann · 26/08/2010 23:09

"Clearly the poor people in Pakistan need help more than people who chose to join the army."

If they didn't, how safe would you be?

EightiesChick · 26/08/2010 23:09

YANBU. Hate Facebook 'activism' almost as much as I hate Facebook.

2shoes · 26/08/2010 23:12

tbh I cannot see what one thing has to do with the other.

Karmann · 26/08/2010 23:12

Facebook should be used to stay in touch with friends - nothing more.

AgentZigzag · 26/08/2010 23:12

I don't know if I'm right, but it's not a 'we'll hand over £60m to them' but rather we pledge £60m over a period of time, say 3/5 years, to help them live now as well as rebuild.

So it's not something we have to find in the coffers right now.

DuelingFanjo · 26/08/2010 23:13

"If they didn't, how safe would you be?"

I don't understand the question. Sorry.

2shoes · 26/08/2010 23:15

can I just do a small hijack and ask where the goverment get the money from> one minuite they say we are poor and have to make massive cuts, then they give away millions(not saying it is wrong) but where do they get it from?

Karmann · 26/08/2010 23:17

DuelingFanjo - we need our army.

2shoes - they get the money from us.

2shoes · 26/08/2010 23:18

but they say we have no money and are making cuts, so where from?

AgentZigzag · 26/08/2010 23:22

It's possible theoretically, that giving Pakistan money has got mixed up in some peoples minds with what David Cameron said about Pakistan looking both ways with terrorism, and then they look at our troops fighting what the terrorists in Pakistan stand for, in Iran/Afghanistan?
