For being utterly put off a man who sits down to wee?

Been with my man a year and in that time never saw him use the bog. T'other night we had gotten a shower together and when we got out he asked if I'd leave so he could have a wee. I told him not to be daft and to just have one whilst I was there. He reluctantly agreed and sat on the bog. I said "erm ... if you're having a crap I'll leave!" and he said "no I'm only having a wee". I said "you sit down to wee??" and he seemed to get a bit embarrassed and said "no, not usually! I'm just messing" but he did actually wee sitting down. A few nights later I was waiting to get in the shower and he shouted through the door that he was just having a quick wee. I walked in to find him sat on the toilet again. I said "Do you sit down to wee all the time?" and this time he said "yeah, I do usually". I said "Why?" and he said he didn't know but that he'd always done it.

Its really put me off! I know that sounds stupid but I find it really unmanly. AIBU?

YABVU you have been with him a year and are quite happy. Now you want to leave him because of the way he pees? Its more strange to care than for him to do that imo.

yankey · 12/08/2010 20:55

YANBU, I think this is hilarious but its one of those odd type of things that sometimes can just put you off...if your that way inclined. When I was younger little things would always put me off someone. A guy I was dating once turned up to pick me up and had these really totally ripped jeans which were not in fashion at all at that time and that was it, it was over. I was about 15 though...now I feel lucky to see my hubbie in jeans, as soon as he walks through the door he's down to his pants and some of them are ripped up too! I let this go of course as atleast he has a manly stance in the loo Wink

Why are all these husbands making a mess with pee and not cleaning it up?

I don't know if DH (and now DS) ever miss because there is never any wee there for me to deal with, because they clean it up themselves.

letsblowthistacostand · 12/08/2010 21:29

The only guy i ever knew who sat down to pee was a selfish, lazy, manipulative fuckwit. He claimed it was too much trouble to pee standing up. So yes, it would put me off.

Also don't understand WHY you would faff around with taking down your pants & trousers and sitting and all that bother when you can just stand there? I guess middle-of-the-night makes sense but other than that...

juneybean · 12/08/2010 21:32

My brother sits down probably because he used to get told off when he was younger for making a mess lol

MymbleMumble · 12/08/2010 22:00

My DH sits down. Just found our that he started when our DD was little and banged her head in the bathroom. He was mid flow and couldn't do anything to help her. Since then he's sat whenever the kids are around to make sure he can help if needed. Turned into a bit of a habit now. I think that's lovely.

LC200 · 12/08/2010 22:07

DH very rarely stands to pee. I am VERY pleased as it is much cleaner imo. He is a bloke though, I am pretty sure of that, and a good one too.

Am I rendering my ds completely undateable by encouraging him to pee sitting down?

PorphyrophillicPixie · 12/08/2010 22:23

I find it reallt weird too. Cuirous to know about my OH's peeing habits now though!

I only find it weird though because I'd love to be able to stand up and wee, I even brought a shewee so I could! Grin

PictureThis · 12/08/2010 22:33

I am very relieved (scuse the Pun Grin)to see that other people's DH/DPs sit down to pee. My DH does this and when I first saw him do it I thought it was a bit odd and a bit effeminate. But to be honest it didn't put me off him.

I'd just like to make it very clear that I don't make a habit of watching him pee either, he just doesn't shut the bloody ensuite door when he's on the loo but that is a whole other topic!

pigletmania · 12/08/2010 22:37

YABVVVVVU so what! There are many men that do this, its none of your business how he wees fgs. No wonder the poor bloke was embarrassed judging by your reaction. At least its cleaner and no wee on the seat and floor.

mumofthreesweeties · 12/08/2010 22:38

yabu, I would actually see that as a sign of manliness tbh. I would love for the males in my house to wee sitting down then I wouldnt have to constantly wipe their yellow smelling wee from the seat every day

luciemule · 12/08/2010 22:40

YABU - he obviously sits down to do a wee when he does a poo and I'm sure you wouldn't find that weird so give the poor bloke a break.Wink

FellatioNelson · 12/08/2010 22:44

My DH does this. First thing in the morning, and when he's very pissed tired. It's because he has terrible eyesight and one of those dual-directional pee streams. ShockIt can be very messy if he doesn't sit, but I'll concede it's not the sexiest thing.Hmm

Minx179 · 12/08/2010 22:47

I wish my OH would sit down; with a prince albert and an ampalang there's 3 holes for the bloody pee to drip out of.

FellatioNelson · 13/08/2010 07:51

Does a PA need to be taken out for sex? Is it not a bit of a faff? And doesn't it get, erm, gunky, in the hole?

mumblechum · 13/08/2010 07:54

Do I dare ask what a prince albert is?

mumblechum · 13/08/2010 07:55

Or an ampalang for that matter?

Heracles · 13/08/2010 07:58

Google Images will answer those questions for you.

Snobear4000 · 13/08/2010 11:04

Haha expat, top drawer.

gagamama · 13/08/2010 12:23

YABU. Unless he shits standing up. Grin

NetworkGuy · 13/08/2010 13:30

"Also don't understand WHY you would faff around with taking down your pants & trousers and sitting and all that bother when you can just stand there? I guess middle-of-the-night makes sense but other than that..."

Not all men wear Y-front pants, not all men do 9-5 in an office where they wear a suit and tie. I happen to wear jogging bottoms or long-legged 'shorts' (and t-shirts etc), more often than jeans (let alone a suit - last time was maybe 10 years ago, and much longer for actually wearing a tie as well).

"Faffing around" doesn't come into it when the whole lot can be dropped to knee level very swiftly, and my concentration doesn't need to include where the stream is going, gravity does takes care of it, while I consider more important aspects of life or work...

OK, letsblowthistacostand, so the lazy fuckwit you knew sat down didn't impress you, but what about the other men who may, unknown to you, sit down, too. It's one thing to comment on a single acquaintance, but another to categorise any male who sits down as having similar traits.

Intergalactic · 13/08/2010 13:39

My DH pees sitting down. However, this is because he has his cock pierced and pee comes out of the pierced hole as well as the normal one (so he tells me - have never seen him try to pee standing up).

ShatnersBassoon · 13/08/2010 13:43

Does he stand up to wipe his arse? Does he dab with toilet paper after weeing? How many wipes do he do after shitting?

None of these have any impact on you. YABU.

Miggsie · 13/08/2010 13:43

Ah well, I used to work in BBC World Service and you could write a fascinating book "toilet habits of many nations" and yes, there are cultures where they stand/squat to poo and don't sit down!!!!!

That would put me off more, frankly. But it's habit and/or culture. You can't blame someone for doing the habitual thing.

And just think! He'll never open the wardrobe door in a hotel and pee in it.

ShatnersBassoon · 13/08/2010 13:44

Should say 'does he do'.
