to think that Eastenders is seriously pushing its luck?

Now I love Eastenders as much as the next person, but am I alone in thinking the producers are seriously pushing their luck showing tonight's episode before the watershed? Phil and Raine's drug/booze fest was great to watch (as I said on another thread, Steve McFadden is the best drunk on TV!!) but surely it's not suitable for this time of night????

I'm the next person, and I don't love EE (anymore).

yes it was a bit much. often is though.

Wanderingsheep · 09/08/2010 20:24

Yes, I agree! It's worse when it's on at 7.30 as I often don't get DD to bed until 8.

I only half watch EE though as it's too depressing. Much prefer Coronation Street!

ArseHolio · 09/08/2010 20:26

If they show it on Sunday I'll complain.

I'm quite open with my kids but crack pipes & Sunday dinner don't go.

LadyBlaBlah · 09/08/2010 20:28

It is the worst programme on tv. It is always too much. Turn it off and never turn it on again. Your life will only get better for it.

PigeonPair · 09/08/2010 20:32

Well I watch Corrie AND Eastenders and I prefer Corrie too - it is so funny (even though the storylines are a little dull/far-fetched at the moment). I stopped watching EE for ages but was drawn in by the whole Syed/Christian storyline.

I've watched EE for years but I did comment to DH halfway through tonights episode that I didn't think showing/refering to drug taking at 8pm was right.

cupcakesandbunting · 09/08/2010 20:33

I haven't watched EE for ages.

Might start again if Phil is back on the old sauce, though.

Oh God, wasn't watching it with the children (both safely tucked up and hopefully dreaming of Peppa Pig and The Clone Wars rather than sweaty Philip Mitchell!).

I LOVE EE Its actually the only programme I watch religously. If ds up still then watch it later as yes I agree theres quite graphic parts in it but ds wanted to watch the news earlier and tbh thats just as graphic - and true unfortunatly.

Thought Steve Mcfaddens acting was fantastic as well.

fedupofnamechanging · 09/08/2010 21:09

I stopped watching it for a long time, but thought the Syed/Christian storyline was compelling. The best episodes are the ones that concentrate on just one or two characters. There are some very good actors, but don't know how the bbc gets away with broadcasting before the watershed.

Tiredmumno1 · 09/08/2010 21:14

Its just a tv show, thats how i look at it, and i will usually watch it at 10 when the kids are in bed or record.

i dont see the need to complain, because it is not a reality show, which are usually far worse.

if you dont like then turn it off. and obviously it will be on, on sunday so people can watch the omnibus. you have been warned so dont watch.

simple.

EE is almost becoming a parody of iteself now. There isn't once happy person in it at the moment. Phil

God I loved eldorado. Wonder if you can get it on dvd....

nowherewoman · 09/08/2010 21:58

And the answer is no, you can't. Surely this warrants a mumsnet campaign?

This life also has an episode featuring consequence free recreational drug use, but I don't think it was on before the watershed Grin

yes I thought they made a bit too much of the Phil bit with the crack, would have been a better story if he had ended up in hospital with heart problems ...ie bad to take it blah blah blah but no just poor old Shirley getting her nose rubbed in it again.

What with Phil and dozy drawers Heather shoving her head in the sand again over the eviction notice it wouldn't be a suprise to see Shirley on crack Confused
