to use Asda home shopping?

Well am I. I read about the Mumsnetter who was left with no money/food and I've tried to use Tesco, i really have. For 5 days I have been trying to put an order through but keep getting a message about my card having a problem. No problem with card according to provider (it's a Tesco Finest CC Hmm ). Tesco.com call centre just says it's an "intermittant problem with their systems which they haven't found a fix for yet" and I'll have to keep trying. Sadly, I need food reasonably soon...

I've used Asda before with no problems...

ChippingIn · 09/08/2010 11:01

Of course not, just make sure you have 2x the amount of money you need for the shopping in your account and you should be fine.

(Due to the, frankly odd, account testing they do).

OrmRenewed · 09/08/2010 11:04

I am awaiting my umpteenth problem free Asda delivery. About 2yrs and counting.

CouldOfWouldOfShouldOf · 09/08/2010 11:05

I've never had a problem with Asda, actually I find them really good and prefer them to Tesco.

mumblechum · 09/08/2010 11:06

I used Asda once, never again. They were 4 hours late delivering, the guy barely spoke English, hadn't bothered to call me so I spend ages trying to get hold of him.

The packers thought that as they didn't have linguine, lynx body spray would be a sensible alternative.

Never ever again Grin

I have been having problems paying my tesco cc on the phone. According to my bank the money keeps coming out and straight back in again. 6 times the bas*ds have now charged me a late fee. I think Tesco's systems are completely useless at the moment.

WitchyWooWoo · 09/08/2010 11:07

just recieved an asda delivery. no problems. its all a bit of a gamble apparently unless you have an ocado near _

SweetnessAndShite · 09/08/2010 11:55

I used to use Tesco but have been doing Asda since they started delivering in this area (january) as frankly they work out cheaper but I had a voucher from Tesco so thought I'd do it there this time. Seems not!

I've used asda for ages ..no problems to report

emptyshell · 09/08/2010 11:58

I used to use mysupermarket and then send my order to whoever worked out cheaper - personally I prefer Tesco but the Asda stuff was all right - the amusement for the completely random substitutions was an interesting way to pass a Saturday afternoon.

OrmRenewed · 09/08/2010 12:00

They also have delightfully child-friendly drivers. DS#2 ran out to greet ours with a praying mantis mask and roared. Driver was graifyingly frightened. Big brownie point for Asda.

LucyLouLou · 09/08/2010 12:09

I like ASDA (although their drivers almost always have a problem finding my house, which is a pretty minor issue considering I'm in waiting for the delivery so more than happy to direct them by phone) and I much prefer their website and service to Tesco. Would probably not use Tesco again unless I have to (although I do my offline shopping mainly in Tesco due to convienience of the location).

Orm - awesome story, your DS is a guard-child, yes? Wink....wonder if I could get away with that?

OrmRenewed · 09/08/2010 12:37

Praying mantis mask downloaded from CBBC Deadly 60 website.

mummyrex · 09/08/2010 12:43

whether ASDA is good seems to depend on your local shop. I have tried all the online supermarkets and only ASDA has been a complete disaster each and every time with each occasion taking an age to sort out. Basically the local shop doesn't give a flying fig.

So, try your local ASDA and see, you may be lucky.

LucyLouLou · 09/08/2010 12:44

Thanks Orm, will have fun scaring niece this afternoon Grin!

OrmRenewed · 09/08/2010 12:51

Agree mummyrex. It does. We have had trouble with Tesco for that very reason. Manager of the store is an arse and doesn't give a stuff. The Asda store is good.

onadietcokebreak · 09/08/2010 12:54

Im tempted to use them again too as overall the service with my local Asda delivery is much better than local Tescos.

However make sure you have double the payment available in your account like a previous poster has advised!

pissedrightoff · 09/08/2010 13:07

Hello,It was me that had all the bother with ASDA. I won't be offended in the slightest, Just make sure you have at least DOUBLE the amount your shopping costs in the bank Wink

onadietcokebreak · 09/08/2010 13:22

Hello PRO!

Did they ever give you anything for all your trouble?

wannabesybil · 09/08/2010 13:48

I have had dreadful experiences locally with Tesco, I think that it varies from store to store.

I use Sainsburys and they are very good here, lovely friendly drivers and good quality food. I go through mysupermarket and for the items I buy it usually works out cheaper at Sainsburys.

pissedrightoff · 09/08/2010 13:57

did get my shop for free, bunch o flowers and a cheque for £25.

onadietcokebreak · 09/08/2010 14:01

Well at least they did something in the end!

LucyLouLou · 09/08/2010 14:10

What happened pissedrightoff? I don't think I saw the thread.

ratspeaker · 09/08/2010 15:00

Just a bit of a tangent.
i was trying to order Euros through Tesco using Tesco CC card and it wouldnt go through.
Had to phone them in the end

MrsC2010 · 09/08/2010 16:00

I've never had a problem with Asda delivery.
