Well am I. I read about the Mumsnetter who was left with no money/food and I've tried to use Tesco, i really have. For 5 days I have been trying to put an order through but keep getting a message about my card having a problem. No problem with card according to provider (it's a Tesco Finest CC Hmm ). Tesco.com call centre just says it's an "intermittant problem with their systems which they haven't found a fix for yet" and I'll have to keep trying. Sadly, I need food reasonably soon...

According to the Asda delivery driver I spoke to last week (only now use them when there's a 'special' on nappies and the like) it's down to the store regarding the quality of service you receive.

Having had several evening deliveries 'no show' with no explanation (one was two days before Christmas and it was items for a Christmas Eve party that I had to dash out for early that morning to buy!) I've given them the heave-ho for groceries.

Sainsburys have been ok, but too many substitutions (one time substituting my veggie food with meat alternatives!) and missing items, especially when they have offers.

The best by far is Ocado - for service and reliability. Shame it's more expensive, but at the risk of sounding a snob, it's worth it. :)

I've never had a problem with Asda.

Lucyloulou- was going to try and find the thread, but it's too long to read.
In a nutshell, Due to various system cock-up's I had been charged for my shopping but had not recieved it.Asda refused to take responsibility for this or to help me for 2 days until lots of lovely mumsnetters started contacting them on my behalf.

In my opinion Ocado are the best. In the very rare case that they are out stock of something & have to substitute you get a text several hours before. I've tried Tesco, Sainsbury's & Asda recently & each time they were out of stock of items that I wanted & I didn't find out until the delivery. I wouldn't feel confident with them that I would receive everything. At least with Ocado you have some warning. Also, after 3 years of Ocado shopping there have been only a couple of times when they have been out of stock of an item. With my one Asda order a third of the shopping was missing!

I do agree that it's store to store, I've heard bad things about all the delivery services, but I know here most people prefer Asda to Tesco (they are the only ones to choose from).
The biggest mess up I had was when Asda forgot a bag. It was £6 worth of stuff. They refunded it, delivered it the next day and gave me a £10 voucher, which I was happy with.

The substitutions have been fine, and sometimes have been worth more than I have ordered, and Asda never make you pay more than what you ordered if it's a sub, so it can work in your favour.

pissedrightoff - that's shit you had to go through that, but great that people here were able to help you!

SweetnessAndShite · 09/08/2010 19:44

pissedrightoff - glad you had a result in the end. Doesn't make me feel so bad for using them!

Shame Tesco can't sort themselves out though. What sort of problem means random people can't place an order for 5 days plus with no way of telling when it'll be fixed?! £103 worth of shopping is a lot to me but not to them I guess...
