I got a friend request on facebook from someone with the same name as me with the same spelling
I found this quite scary.what do I do?
Does he want to form some sort of secret society with people of the same name

I think lots of people do this (not me i might add)......... Very strange that there are two people in the world called Jasonthunderpants though.........

just ignore (first check they are not trying to be you - their profile is open for a couple of weeks to you following s frienf request. Mark it as ignore request and i don;t know this person at sll.

Personally i dont find it scary as such, but yes, it is weird

its called googlewhacking.

I have heard of this before. My DH was contacted by someone with the same name on fb and now I think there are loads of them.They have bugger all in common, apart from a name. Not sinister imo, but a bit odd

I've had it too and when I looked at the person's profile they had a few of us. I ignored it. Got no interest whatsoever in being online friends with people I don't know. I just have real friends and family on there.

Isn't googlewhacking typing something into google that only returns one website in the search results? As in the Dave Gorman prog.

I used to be email pals about 10 years ago (before facebook)with a girl who had my name as her hotmail address. Like this - [email protected] so I had to have it the other way round [email protected]. She was a journalist who lived in Canada.

I get fb requests from people with my name.
Unfortunately my name is very popular with american men, so it's a bit weird.

I've got 3 people with the identical first & last name as me as friends on FB. 3 FMM's live in London & one up north. All in UK. I'm from NZ. Weird but nice. I'd like to have an FMM lunch one day - like Come Dine With Me but just one night, one name.

I did that, cause out of the millions on facebook we are the only two with the same name.

I only messaged her to say hello I didn't want to be her friend. Maybe It's one of those Dave Gorman types who want to be friends with everyone who shares a name.
