YANBU, it is shit and I can never believe the number of grown women who seem to be all swooney over some clunkily-written teenage angsty rubbish.

SlartyBartFast · 04/08/2010 21:20

me neither. unbelievable.

deemented · 04/08/2010 21:20

YANBU - It is indeed shite.

Morloth · 04/08/2010 21:22

Get a drink, it is better if you are drunk.

I actually went to see the latest one with a girlfriend the other night (I was drunk, of course).

It was actually OK, but as we were the only ones in the cinema we felt free to do a running commentary/have a snigger fest.

WHY does that boy never have a shirt on? I find his lack of body hair disturbing especially in a werewolf.

compo · 04/08/2010 21:23

I enjoyed the films but made a mistake in buying the latest book having never read any of the others
it is so tedious and like you say clunkily written, repetitive and just hardly anything new happens except maybe twice

larks35 · 04/08/2010 21:25

yanbu, I haven't read or seen any of it, but I just know it is utter, bile-ish, crappy shit. Bring back Buffy, I say and let her slay the lot of 'em!

GypsyMoth · 04/08/2010 21:27

i enjoy these ... books and films...dont care what you all think!!

however...i find myself annoyed that Bellas moth is ALWAYS open!!!!!

watch her.....go on,its never shut!!

compo · 04/08/2010 21:28

Oh yes the novel makes me yearn for a bit of spike and drusilla

Morloth · 04/08/2010 21:30

Now Spike, there was a yummy vampire - early Spike though, not stupid good Spike.

Kelley Armstrong writes good werewolves.

NeverPushWhenItSaysPull · 04/08/2010 21:57

YABU.

There are all sorts of drinking games you can play involving the repetition of stupid phrases, open mouth scenes, pointlessly jealous moments, etc. New Moon is definitely the most fun you can legally have in a cinema (although the other film watchers seemed to be looking around at us a lot )

*disclaimer: I loved the books and the movies.

Charlieknows · 04/08/2010 22:14

YANBU Twilight is shit.

I read this quote today that sums up my opinion "Harry Potter is about confronting fears, finding inner strength and doing what is right in the face of adversity. Twilight is about how important it is to have a boyfriend." -Stephen King

As a Morloth said Kelley Armstrong writes fantastic books, if you are even slightly interested in good stories about vampires etc., read them.

Charlieknows · 04/08/2010 22:16

Oh and Spike (evil not good) and Angelus were brilliant!!!

There's also a really funny photoshoped picture floating around the internet somewhere of Bella and Edward sitting down with Blade behind them entitled Twilight - Alternative Ending.

Ilythia · 04/08/2010 22:16

YANBU I bought the book from a charity shop as all the mums from school and playgroup go on and on and frigging ON. One has a Team Jacob sweatshirt ffs.
Its' so drippy, and he's a stalker and a classic abusive man.
Oh bella, if I hurt you its your fault i try to control myself but i can't help it, you will make me hurt you

Ilythia · 04/08/2010 22:18

ooh, it's not just me

lifeas3plus1 · 04/08/2010 22:18

YANBU

And I was well pissed off when I realised, too late, that I named my son the same as one of the main characters.

Now, every time I tell someone his name they're like "Oh after Twilight"

No not after twilight, now F Off.

HumphreyCobbler · 04/08/2010 22:18

Spike was always sexy, evil or good.

Just in another league to Edward.

paisleyleaf · 04/08/2010 22:19

I've not read/seen anything Twighlight (I don't have teenagers). But I do like that Stephen King quote

Ilythia · 04/08/2010 22:20

over 2.2 million results for twilight edward abusive

btw, don't mention this in front of real twilight fans, unless you enjoy watching them splutter and freak out. which i do

Valpollicella · 04/08/2010 22:21

this is quite intersting, and true

MrsRhettButler · 04/08/2010 22:25

i just saw it tonight... i only went for the wolf

i know, i'm a grown ass woman but i don't care, i like him

(and he doesn't need body hair! he's hot!)

but yeah, bella's mouth...... she needs to close it! i was staring at her teeth

laweaselmys · 04/08/2010 22:29

if Twilight was 10 times shorter and a 100 times more honest

Searching for Twi related hatred is an oddly entertaining way to spend an evening...

HumphreyCobbler · 04/08/2010 22:36

I thought the books would have been great if they had been written by someone else.

Or if I had been thirteen.

Haliborange · 04/08/2010 22:37

Precisely Humphrey. Not that I've read them all. I managed 2 and twas enough!

nikki1978 · 04/08/2010 22:39

I started reading the first book and gave up halfway through. Dull, dull, dull and nothing exciting ever seemed to happen. I don't know why anyone fancies that Robert whathisname either. All pale and creepy

Vampire shit bores me.....

Ilythia · 04/08/2010 22:42

now true Blood on the other hand...
