after MONTHS of seeing people wearing these things and thinking they looked stupid and why would anyone wear an item that adds inches to their arse, takes inches off their legs and hangs down in the crotch area in the manner of a toddler with a wee-filled nappy on ??

bizarrely, i have now started to see people wearing them and actually thinking they look pretty stylish and -gulp- SEXY? ie, when worn with a tight vest kinda top (balances out the voluminous-ness) and flat shoes (perhaps flip flops or gladiators)

and now i want a pair! am i mad? or (i suspect) just a fashion victim sheep that always gets into trends late

The ship has kinda sailed on this one my friend.

YABU

LucyLouLou · 02/08/2010 21:12

You're not mad, but these trousers only ever seem to suit people with 'perfect' bodies. If you have one of those, congratulations (!) and go for it! Otherwise, I probably wouldn't, they're not flattering unfortunately!

traceybath · 02/08/2010 21:13

Super - I have this and its lovely and flattering.

But you know loads of people will think you're mad

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 02/08/2010 21:14

Not unreasonable, but have you had a bump to the head. THey are hideous and your first instincts that they look stupid are spot on.

scurryfunge · 02/08/2010 21:14

I have seen plenty on those with the perfect body and they still look like they have crapped themselves, sorry.

superv1xen · 02/08/2010 21:16

haha sloanypony i think you are right there

hmmm, lucyloulou ....i know what you mean about them suiting perfect bodies ... i am a size 8, but not very tall, and definitely not "perfect" in the figure department....

scurry's right they just look like you've done a massive dump and not realised

Also superv I think some matchmaking might be in order here you are

superv1xen · 02/08/2010 21:17

OP posts:
traceybath · 02/08/2010 21:18

Super - I'm still bf so have 32 d's too but with my strapless wonderbra its fine.

mumbar · 02/08/2010 21:19

I have tracksuit bottom stlye ones that fit around the bottom crutch area properly

They are simply 3/4 length tracksuit with tight bottoms bought from supermarket for £8 and great with a vest t shirt when running around/ cycling with ds.

Don't think Ive got the bod for the real mc coy

RuthieCohen · 02/08/2010 21:22

two words:

thigh rub

Rockbird · 02/08/2010 21:23

You can't touch this, da da da da...

LucyLouLou · 02/08/2010 21:23

superv1xen - I think it's worth a shot, at size 8 you might well be able to get away with it! And if you were to crap yourself for any reason, no one would ever know....

2kids2dogsandahorse · 02/08/2010 21:26

yep and JTP will be too busy admiring his socks and sandals to notice any crappage accidents

CouldOfWouldOfShouldOf · 02/08/2010 21:29

Nooooo.
Shit filled nappy/MC Hammer.

Yanbu if you wish to look like either of the above.

OctaviaH · 02/08/2010 21:34

YABU!!!

They'll look hideously dated by Xmas at the latest.

Buy some gorgeous cigarette pants if you want that sort of silhouette.

AVOID houlihans- their stock is going to drop very, very quickly.

superv1xen · 02/08/2010 21:35

pmsl @ lucyloulou

Jasonthunderpants · 02/08/2010 21:39

Dont like those things

always remind me of MC hammer
another fashion crime I am afraid

superv1xen · 02/08/2010 21:47

actually, as a child in the early 90's i had some very similar trousers, and, to my shame, they were flourescent tie dye and my "friends" used to sing "u cant touch this!!!" at me.....

perhaps i am better off steering clear arent i

superv1xen · 02/08/2010 21:49

[fashion-retard emoticon]

OP posts:
OctaviaH · 02/08/2010 21:53

cigarette pants

there are some lovely ones around at the moment with sort of bunched waistlines- very watered down harem-ish

superv1xen · 02/08/2010 21:55

basically skinny jeans then?? oh i have TONS of these, i live in them!!

OP posts:
cocopear · 03/08/2010 09:06

oh god please, don't do it OP, they only look good on size zero 16 year olds

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 03/08/2010 09:28

I was a harem pants fan earlier in the year, and toyed with buying a pair. However I went on holiday last week - there was a rash of them and OMFG. Whoever wore them (whatever shape and size) they all looked hideous! I congratulated myself on having avoided that particular fashion faux pas.

isthatporridgeinyourhair · 03/08/2010 09:31

Thinking about it, their true hideousness was only revealed when the wearer walked and the pouch of material was swinging freely at arse level. Not a good look.
