This makes me cross
sitcoms on telly where the fridge is opened and whatever is taken out and the door is left open
I saw this tonight on an episode of Friends and yesterday watching My Family on bbc Iplayer. These are not isolated incidents and have occured over the years on telly and they make me cross
The fridge should be kept closed to keep the food chilled and it wastes electricity and speeds up global warming

scrab806ble · 31/07/2010 20:38

Ahahahahah. Mwah!

southeastastra · 31/07/2010 20:38

i suppose it's subtle product placement

Lionstar · 31/07/2010 20:40

I smell a Mumsnet Campaign

SpringHeeledJack · 31/07/2010 20:41

my dp does this on a regular basis

[signs up immediately]

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 20:42

It's just like all those other "things that only happen in TV sitcoms/dramas"...

Like someone ordering a drink/meal, then getting an urgent phone call ("Sir! We've found another body!") and not bothering to finish said drink/meal.

activate · 31/07/2010 20:42

I do this a lot - thankfully it chings at me

SpringHeeledJack · 31/07/2010 20:43

hold on a sec.

You were watching My Family??? on iplayer??

YABVVVVVVU

blametheparents · 31/07/2010 20:43

It is DS in this house.

sharbie · 31/07/2010 20:44

grrrrr my DCs love friends and i have noticed that since we got our new larder fridge a few weeks ago they keep opening the door and standing there while they choose what to have.
drives me mad.

SpringHeeledJack · 31/07/2010 20:45

UQD- you mean if you were RL Inspector Morse or some such and you were eating a cheese sandwich and they'd found another body

you would finish your cheese sandwich??

SaorAlba · 31/07/2010 20:46

DP does this in our house too. He also leaves the milk out. It drives me nuts.

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 20:47

Springheeledjack - if I knew I was going to be in for a long night in the morgue/station, then yes, I'd finish it or take it with me!

SpringHeeledJack · 31/07/2010 20:49

dear oh dear. then I hope the future of crime fighting in this country is not in your hands.

imagine the implications for the Big Society if everyone wanted to finish their tea first!

tsk

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 20:50

It's very important to get a good meal inside you. It improves efficiency.

And not to leave the fridge door open while getting it.

Jasonthunderpants · 31/07/2010 20:52

Springheeledjack
What a marvelous name
Years age I used to get a magazine called The Unexplained and I remember a piece about Springheeledjack. He used to jump I think, was he the Devil?

SpringHeeledJack · 31/07/2010 20:52

yes but not if you're going to wait till you've had your coffee and After Eights.

secunda · 31/07/2010 20:52

People also never say 'Ok..bye' when finishing a phone call in programmes like Spooks. They also just turn laptops off without clicking save or shutting down

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 20:58

They never arrange when or where to meet, either. They just seem to know.

UnquietDad · 31/07/2010 21:03

I'd solve the crime on iPhone while finishing my meal. Multi-tasking.

whomovedmychocolate · 31/07/2010 21:06

Mine also bleeps at me if I leave it open. Plus the small bear that chastises me for buying own brand fish fingers tells me off

aristocat · 31/07/2010 21:08

fantastic

secunda · 31/07/2010 21:11

Yes, UnquietDad, or they will just say 'Parliament Square' and that's it. Whereas my next question would be 'Well, where in Parliament Square? By the abbey or on the Whitehall side? It's quite big you know'

StarExpat · 31/07/2010 21:14

Lol. My ds is 22 months and ever since he could walk (10 months) he has been adamant that the fridge door is closed. If I'm looking in it for too long he gets vey cross and makes attempts to close it. If I leave it open so I can put something on the counter and get something else, it is always closed before I get back to it and we have a very, very small kitchen!
Dh and I have never said anything about the fridge door so I have no idea where he gets it.
He now shouts "door! Shut door!" and runs over to shut it if it's open longer than 1 second...

Jasonthunderpants · 31/07/2010 21:18

StarExppat

Your DS sounds like my kind of guy.Give him a kiss from me(nothing pervy,I just like the sound of him,he has is head screwed on right)
