..to suck out all the marrow of life

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.

"I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary.

"I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms, and, if it proved to be mean, why then to get the whole and genuine meanness of it, and publish its meanness to the world; or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion"

Yep, I am having an affair.

With a woman who posts on MN, oddly enough.

So I am being an arse to my DW, I can quite see that. But also - I am sucking out the marrow of life.

And don't imagine I am the only person on MN with a secret lover.

(The quote? it's Henry David Thoreau)

hum can I say the C word on mumsnet ???

Im glad that you find your affair so funny, enlightening and full filling

I am pleased that not 1 woman but 2 have fell for your amazing charms and seductiveness, some times I am amazed at how some members of society inclusing the woman that you are having an affair with can stoop so low in the bounds of morality that they brag about having an affair and how desperate people can become to want to have sex with just anyone

I hope you enjoy sucking your marrow of life as much as having your penis scraped when you end up in the GUM clinic

and I wish your wife the mother of your children I presume all the best in life without having a wanker like you in it

Miffster · 23/07/2010 12:10

Anyway, sneaking about, lying to people who you promised to love and cherish, deceiving them, over and over again, boasting about it, is nothing like Thoreau living in the woods at all.

It's just some sleazy scrote boasting about his nasty little deceits and genital self-gratifications at someone else's expense.

Ugh.

elliemental · 23/07/2010 12:18

Go to woods.
Find stone.
Crawl back under it.
Enjoy.

that way you make EVERYBODY happy....

RuthieCohen · 23/07/2010 12:24

opened this thread hoping for tips on what to do with my glut of over-sized courgettes.

lambethlil · 23/07/2010 12:27

Talleyrand, "sucking the marrow out of life", are you sure it is a woman you are having an affair with?

CrapSuzette · 23/07/2010 12:28

Well, by posting this you may well have solved your 'secret lover' problem.
If your mistress reads this, she'll realise what a pompous dick you are and will refuse to have anything more to do with you.
Your quote, your posturing... you've made my skin crawl, actually. What an unattractive man you seem.
Feel desperately sorry for your wife. And for the poor, misguided soul who is (for now) the OW.

HettiesMum · 23/07/2010 12:29

I think tallyrand is having us on.

Sn0wflake · 23/07/2010 12:37

Egocentric fuckwit. IMHO

SpringHeeledJack · 23/07/2010 13:08

He's gotta be. Having us on I mean.

eg: "'...or if it were sublime, to know it by experience, and be able to give a true account of it in my next excursion'

Yep. I am having an affair"

It's that "yep" wot does it. I do wish he'd put "hoh yes" or "yes indeedy" tho

2blessed2bstressed · 23/07/2010 13:13

I don't understand. Whay are you telling us this? We don't care about you or what you're doing. Go away.

YeahBut · 23/07/2010 13:16

And you actually found a woman to suck your marrow? Amazing

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2010 16:42

its one of these baby marrows!

Habbibu · 23/07/2010 16:47

Like a courgette, you mean?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2010 16:48

no I'm sure you can buy poncey expensive organic baby marrows!

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2010 16:48

or maybe its just a tiny courgette, I am not up on my zucchini!

Habbibu · 23/07/2010 16:49

No, those are baby courgettes, and they're teeny. Nice in stir fries.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 23/07/2010 16:51

I see, well I think that's what he has then

ruthosaurus · 23/07/2010 17:27

Apart from the nice in stir-fries bit, obv. Ew.

Tell you what, if I was the OW, reading his OP would probably make me want to a) back off like NOW and b) scrub myself clean with bleach. It's the "yep", isn't it? And the name, and the quote, and, well, just yuck.

As you were.

Habbibu · 23/07/2010 17:31

God, can you imagine, she logs on, sees a faintly familiar writing style...

Miffster · 23/07/2010 17:33

Yes, the unfortunate mumsnetter having an affair with this nob must be writhing with shame and embarassment.

It's also quite creepy - is his next move going to be dropping further clues as to her identity? Posting more coded messages for her to read? is he letting her know that he has read all her old posts?

Yeeeuchy yuk yuk.

zandy · 23/07/2010 17:43

I wonder, is a Tallyrand the same as a Tallywhacker?

ThatVikRinA22 · 23/07/2010 17:47

read op.

yeah. you suck.

CaptainNancy · 23/07/2010 22:01

I assume named after the Frenchman

OrmRenewed · 24/07/2010 11:10

OP must have low expectations if having an extra-marital affair counts as sucking the marrow out of life. I'd want to climb Everest, or start a hugely successful business, or establish a charity or swim the channel or something really exciting. Not have it away with the woman next door. People are weird

mydoorisalwaysopen · 24/07/2010 11:25

I think OP HAS run away to the woods. Yippee. Pompous twat. He certainly hasn't been back to this thread. Maybe he thought he'd recruit his harem by being such a twat sensitive soul.
