www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1296361/Twins-prove-baby-survive-23-weeks.html

This article states that the these twins are the youngest to survive in the UK and that the previous record was 24 weeks. WIBU to email them and tell them that my twins were both born at 23 weeks and are still alive and doing well?

A slight co-incidence is that we are from the same town, babies born in same hospital, and transferred to same hospital 60 miles away. I hope they continue to do as well as my twins did.

They are always wrong, but it won't hurt to remind them how always wrong they are.

Quality · 21/07/2010 19:58

Reaqlly? 23 weeks! That must have been a shock for you, glad they are doing well

WRT teh article they sai dhte first twin was born at 23+2 so were your twins born before that? You do realise if you write in they will want a picture and everyone will lnow you read the DM? Not worth it is it?

DuncanDisorderly · 21/07/2010 19:58

SEA, I tried to add a comment but they are moderated so not sure when/if it will appear.

Really, Duncan? That's amazing! Well done your super-twins

RhinestoneCowgirl · 21/07/2010 19:59

Amazing about your twins tho...

DuncanDisorderly · 21/07/2010 20:01

Quality, it wasn't really a shock, my waters broke at 18 weeks so we were waiting. We have a blog if you want to have a look at pics of the boys.

They'd have no chance of getting me in the paper. The first twin was born 3 days earlier than mine, but both mine were born 7 days earlier than her 2nd twin. So I trump her. I think so anyway.

Doesn't make much of a change, the DM being wrong, really... But yeah, email them!

(DD I sent you an email, by the way )

Quality · 21/07/2010 20:15

My comment wasn't meant as patronising as it sounded btw(or as badly spelt) I reckon you trump her for having earliest twins as she had an early baby and then anther one....
Good fro them for hanging on for an extra 5 weeks, awesome work there!

my sister was born at 32 weeks 37 years ago which was a bit of a shock to my mum (her first, she was 19)that's how she describes it 'It was a bit of shock, you know'

DuncanDisorderly · 21/07/2010 20:20

Oh you didn't sound patronising at all. I do worry though that people think I make up their extraordinary arrival, which is why I tout my blog around so often, just to prove we are real.

OMG my husband just emailed The Sun another daily newspaper who said they'd be interested in our story. How exciting. shame I am so shy as it would be fab to promote the great work of QA hospital in Portsmouth.

Don't take it personally about the DM. They 'quoted' my DH a few years back, by taking out-of-context extracts from a paper he'd written and making it sounds as though they'd interviewed him on completely another topic.

But where's your blog? I'd love to hear about your twins!

tegan · 21/07/2010 20:37

i would love to read your blog too. congrats on have suck prem lo's

Quality · 21/07/2010 20:37

Wow. Speechlessly devouring your blog.

How did you cope?

DuncanDisorderly · 21/07/2010 21:11

It was so tough, thank God for my supportive husband and understanding children. TBH I just felt completely useless. I couldn't help the babies, I was a spare part at home, I wanted to be home and back to normal but couldn't bare to leave my babies.

I only got through it because I had to.

Right now I am in the middle of my birth story which will be on the blog in a day or two. It's difficult to write because it brings back so much pain.

'I only got through it because I had to'

But you are amazing though.

Doing the blog must be hard in so many ways.

What utterly gorgeous babies.

Quality · 21/07/2010 22:00

Thanks DD, have read up to them being 3 weeks old, what an amazing blog, you can feel your tension. So good to hear they are home and doing well now They are gorgeous, just as your other dc's are.
DH was in shock at the photos, he's never seen a prem baby.

weblette · 21/07/2010 22:30

DD that's just the most amazing blog, so wonderfully written - what beautiful children you have!

DM are always wrong BTW.....

mollycuddles · 22/07/2010 06:39

Have been reading your blog - wow. We had the same due date and I was so lucky that my dd2 arrived 2 days late. Well done Joe, Harry and especially Mummy.

tegan · 22/07/2010 06:41

it must of been such a difficult time for you and especially due to the fact you have other children too

DomesticG0ddess · 22/07/2010 08:20

Great to see your babies thriving. I am 27 weeks pregnant and sometimes worry about "what if?", but your blog is an inspiration.
