Lots of lovely attitudes shown on the 'is breastfeeding a middle class thing' thread.

How smug can you get?

Hands up if you are working class and not a stupid, uneducated, druggie, selfish, malnourished and mindless waste of space.

I wouldn't eat a chip sandwich as I don't particuarly care for chips but I do eat,and enjoy, fish finger sandwiches with plastic cheese and ketchup if that counts?

IFancyKevinELevin · 13/07/2010 17:34

Chips and egg, proper WC tea! (Not dinner)

Morloth · 13/07/2010 17:34

Do you toast the bread LetThereBeRock, I couldn't be doing with an untoasted fish finger sandwich.

IFancyKevinELevin · 13/07/2010 17:39

Morloth toasted bread Who do you think you are, bloody Gordon Ramsey?

What's next - garnish with parsley?

Can't toast the bread, it makes the salad cream yucky.

In the 70's salad cream was quite posh, and mayonnaise was just haute cuisine!

usualsuspect · 13/07/2010 17:40

I've found my MN home

expatinscotland · 13/07/2010 17:40

I honestly don't care about this whole 'class' thing and I don't think I'll ever fully get it because I am foreign.

I don't go on BF/bottle feed-whatever topic because, as my children are now toddlers/school-age it doesn't really pertain to me.

LetThereBeRock · 13/07/2010 17:42

You can't toast the bread. It ruins the sandwich.

LetThereBeRock · 13/07/2010 17:42

And salad cream is always yucky.

expatinscotland · 13/07/2010 17:46

I like salad cream! I've always hated mayo. I never saw salad cream in the US, they probably have it now. But I use it in egg, tuna salad sandwich-type fillings.

NOT on salads, though. I've always used vinaigrette.

SanctiMoanyArse · 13/07/2010 17:46

FIsh finger sarnie need white bread, untoasted (and cheap- nne of this fancy home amde stuff) with butter, ketchup / HP and mayo or salad cream

Earlier after this I craced a chip butty, now its a fisjdinger sarnie: cheers people, thanks for thre diet help

LetThereBeRock · 13/07/2010 17:48

Mayonnaise and salad cream are both evil.

Oh, now all that carbo-loading - chip sandwiches, fish fingers on bread, lasagne served with chips (GAG!) - that native Brits do is just nasty.

I remember once I had a temp working for me and fancied a filled roll in the morning, so I asked her what she fancied as I was nipping down to the shop.

She said, 'Tattie scone and fried egg'.

My eyes nearly bugged out of my head when they served up a roll with a tattie scone and fried egg in it.

And the gal tucked right in with a smile on her face.

LetThereBeRock · 13/07/2010 17:52

That'a quite normal here Expat. Certainly in Glasgow.

It's so good. I have a roll and potato scone and fried egg once a week.

A roll with black pudding, potato scone and fried egg is even better.

Morloth · 13/07/2010 18:28

Sniff, well there is the dividing line then.

Toasted fish finger sandwich = posh

Untoasted = unwashed mass

CatAndFiddle · 13/07/2010 18:33

Mmmm...chip barm.

Or, on occasion, a Pie Barm. Now that's a carb sandwich for you. Big thick cheese pie....in a barm. You can only really pull that off in Wigan though, I think I'd get some if I tried to order that in Leicestershire.

Nemofish · 13/07/2010 18:42

This is because I mentioned lentils and tofu, isn't it?!

Well I go one step further...

Caesar salad dressing or heinz salad cream / what's salad dressing?

You can only have massive chucnks of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber as a salad if you are WC.

And jacket potato fillings. Tuna nicoise, feck off you ponce, cheesey beans, nice one my son.

I think we have this one sussed, ladies.

Morloth · 13/07/2010 18:45

What about chilli on potatoes, where does that stand?

expatinscotland · 13/07/2010 18:49

Or chilli on rice (boak).

LetThereBeRock · 13/07/2010 18:58

What's wrong with chili and rice?

SanctiMoanyArse · 13/07/2010 19:18

Excuse me orloth I don't mind being called a mass but unwashed? Not true

'Course after a nasty incident involving ds1 throwing a jar of green & blacks hot chocd at a quart jar of home made pickled onions earlier I now stink as if I have been washed in spiced white vingar......

(a roll with scone in it? even if (I presume) potato? yuck! )

Mayo revolting unless home amde or mixed with ketchup.

SanctiMoanyArse · 13/07/2010 19:22

I like chilli on rice or spud, but don't really get lasagne and chips; far worse though is shepherds pie or anything else with potato served with chips

double spud?

usualsuspect · 13/07/2010 20:53

I love lasagne and chips ...especially in the Asda cafe

Morloth · 13/07/2010 21:10

I like lasagne and mayonnaise.

LetThereBeRock · 13/07/2010 21:14

No to lasagne and chips but yes to lasagne and crusty bread with salad.
