Carbonated · 13/07/2010 11:04

I wouldn't be happy with my DS watching 2 hours of telly before I even got up.

5.30 Eleanor? (snort). Good god, you're slacking woman.

Hai1988 · 13/07/2010 11:10

In all fairness he doesnt evan watch the telly most days hes just plays with some toys.

Oh and i forget that telly rots the brain
DS has always watched the telly as much as he wants and has just got a glowing report and have been told is a very bright young lad so no worries there im afriad.

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 13/07/2010 11:13

I wouldn't dream of doing it, but each to their own.

Why do you need justification from mn?

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 13/07/2010 11:14

"I wouldn't be happy with my DS watching 2 hours of telly before I even got up. "

My DS watches 2 hours of telly but I'm awake and MNing - is that ok?

AnyFucker · 13/07/2010 11:15

I wouldn't (and didn't) do that

Occasionally at weekends if < ahem > a heavy night, the evening before

But as a regular occurrence...no

What do you want us to say ?

BubbaAndBump · 13/07/2010 11:16

Of course we do Eleanor only we do buggyfit to get to the ponies on top of the jog around the block.

(I didn't just google "exercise with prams" to try and find out name of buggyfit. I know it because we do it every day. Didn't google it. Nope. Not me.)

Dropdeadfred · 13/07/2010 11:18

if he doesnt watch it then why bother putting it on?

do you have cable tv? can he change he channels? you may not know exactly what he could watch in your absence

GypsyMoth · 13/07/2010 11:19

Can he access the kitchen...... Unlock doors or windows?? Fiddle with sockets, switches and electrical appliances??

Fo you sleep soundly?

blackberryway · 13/07/2010 11:19

Couldn't you bring a duvet down and snooze on the sofa? Seems a bit somehow...

Hai1988 · 13/07/2010 11:19

I dont need justification i just wanted to see what other people thought.

I was just stating that i dont see a problem with tv

OP posts:
Carbonated · 13/07/2010 11:21

Where do I say "I judge you all for being the laziest slackers alive?" It was just a statement of my own opinion - I would not be happy for my DS to watch 2 hours of tv a day before I was up. It is well publicised that too much tv is not great for children. But what other people do is up to them.

Dropdeadfred · 13/07/2010 11:21

why don't you want to spend time with him? why do you prefer for him to be alone whilst you sleep?
could you go to bed earlier at night so you are not so tired in the morning?

Carbonated · 13/07/2010 11:22

And why is it assumed that only rich MC pushy types would object to too much tv?

Hai1988 · 13/07/2010 11:23

I do have sky tv but he just sticks the the childrens channels and evan if he didnt what would be so terrible to watch at that time in the morning.

Hes nearly 5 he why would be playing with sockets he knows house safety.

All windows are set so they only open an inch.

I live in a flat i leave my bedroom door open and the living room is like 2 metres away from my bedroom.

OP posts:
WhereTheWildThingsWere · 13/07/2010 11:25

Well in that case ok, yes I do think YABU and unless you are going to stealth reavel some amazing reason why you need the extra two hours sleep then yes, I think it is lazy. I also find it very sad.

Hai1988 · 13/07/2010 11:26

I never said that rich mc pushy types would object???

Its 2 hours in the morning i spend every day with him with no breaks, how can u suggest i dont want to spend time with him just cause of the time in the morning when he likes to play on his own evan if i was up!

OP posts:
breadandroses · 13/07/2010 11:29

Do you really want this to continue?

Put him back in bed, tell him everyone stays in bed until it's 7am. When it's 7 get up with him. You are training him- he won't be able to judge 7am on the clock yet. Maybe have an alarm to beep then.

You have to find a middle ground because

a) he is getting up too early

b) a 4 yr old watching 2 hours of tv ALONE EVERY MORNING is and a form of neglect imo.

Good luck.

Parenting sometimes involves a bit of work, not just abdicating responsibility. That sounds twattish, but I mean it kindly.
