to not want to sleep with my DP when he refuses to wash his pooey smell hands?

DP & I went away with the 3DC this weekend. Yesterday, DP changed one of the boys after a poo accident and, about 30 mins later gave me a hug. His hands smelt pooey but he claimed it was the cheese and onion crisps he'd been eating so he refused to wash his hands Later, he came to bed. I asked if he was going to brush his teeth and he rolled his eyes and snuggled next to me. I shuffled away. When he asked what was wrong I told him he had pooey hands and hadn't brushed his teeth and, whilst it is his body and his choice, I did not feel like cuddling up to him and did not want his pooey hands on me. He said it was ok because he'd used a babywipe so they would smell ok. I disagreed.

So, he got in a big strop and slept with the DC instead and has been pissed off with me ALL day.

I was careful not to nag but ffs, he's 36. Why couldn't he just wash his hands?

YANBU. Push him towards soap and water.

PussinJimmyChoos · 11/07/2010 22:13

You need to not wash your fadge for a few days and then tell him you want oral

That should shut him up

gillbraemar · 11/07/2010 22:14

It's also a problem in our house! My hubby just wont get that I will only go near him if his hygiene is acceptable to me. He always gets grumpy if I want him to go and brush his teeth at night but his breath is horrible and I hate him facing me at night and breathing the stench on me - men!

wetweekend · 11/07/2010 22:14

Thank you, Cote. I was sure I wasn't BU but wanted to check! Do other grown men do this?

Oh, I see... others ARE like it too. How odd. I might do that,Jimmy

God that is minging.

Bad breath and shitty hands.
What was it you saw in this guy exactly?

EricNorthmansmistress · 11/07/2010 22:17

YANBU
I have to ask my DH to wash his hands before bed sometimes. He eats with his fingers and eats meat so his hands stink of meat and onions

He might grumble about it but your DH has behaved like a child. FFS.

wetweekend · 11/07/2010 22:18

Yes, moondog, I have asked myself the same thing. Perhaps he is sulky because he know's I am right.

If our 5yr old refused to wash his hands/ brush his teeth, we'd make him do it. I dont expect to have to do that with DP too.

Soap And Water.

Babywipe is not sufficient!

And not all men are like that, by the way, so he can't use that as an excuse - or blame you for being a 'fussy woman.'
You are presumably teaching your children the same - so why should he be exempt?

wetweekend · 11/07/2010 22:20

know's??? knows, obviously.

Smile
wetweekend · 11/07/2010 22:21

exactly. And you'd think he would not want to have poo/ cheese and onion flavoured hands anyway.

YANBU. Hate it too. I thought it was only my dh who doesn't brush his teeth before bed, but there seems to be a few on this thread. Wonder if they didn't get forced to do it when they were children?

thisisyesterday · 11/07/2010 22:27

yanbu at all, that's just manky

and i think you worded it jsut right, his body, his choice... if he chooses not to wash that's totally up to him
and it's totally up to you whether or not you want him touching you with pooey hands!

wetweekend · 11/07/2010 22:29

Phew! I am glad I wasn't alone in thinking he was being disgusting. He claims his hands didn't smell and it is vaguely possible that I was imagining it but even so, you think he'd just humour me and wash them. But I am sure they did smell anyway. Ick.

YADNBU - and he ate crisps after not washing his hands [vom]

wetweekend · 11/07/2010 22:30

I know, I know! Lima. Except he says he did wash them. But he didn't.

moondog · 11/07/2010 22:33

How was it first time you had sex?
Did he clean teeth then?

SloanyPony · 12/07/2010 08:44

I changed a nappy the other day, washed my hands, hands still smelt of poo!

Washed them again, and again.

Still poo! Not strong, and more soapy, but still pooey!

Very annoyed. Didn't completely disaspear till later when I had a long shower and washed my hair.

NO it wasn't under my fingernails.

Hair doesn't smell of poo either before you say it.

Stinky babies, roll on potty training the last one.

abbierhodes · 12/07/2010 09:34

I can't imagine not brushing my teeth before bed! Does he often do this? Cos it's minging!

brownhorse · 12/07/2010 09:50

Pooey smells get stuck in the nose. Maybe his hands were clean as a clean pair of pants

melikalikimaka · 12/07/2010 10:37

Sounds like a lazy ba**d! I hate green teeth too.

Morloth · 12/07/2010 10:38

Yuck

wetweekend · 12/07/2010 18:01

Yes, he used to brush his teeth. We don't live together but when he stays over he doesn't brush his teeth any more. I thought it was because I kick him out in the early hours before DS wakes up and sees him (DS thinks DP is a friend... long story) and he went home and brushed his teeth there but I now suspect he just doesn't brush them at all. He's always nice and clean when he comes over.

He's STILL in a strop and not talking to me and says he is pissed off with me

OP posts:
wetweekend · 12/07/2010 18:07

And, in his defence, he does always brush his teeth before he comes over and usually takes pride in his appearance.

Strange man.
