To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

pissedrightoff · 11/07/2010 20:17

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

I shop at Tesco. Was going to swap to Ocado but last time I compared prices on mysupermarket.com they were £19 more expensive for the same items!!

Of course there's something they can do.

A friend of mine had a mix-up on her Ocado order on the afternoon of a dinner party she was giving.

The driver actually drove to her nearest Waitrose, bought the items she was missing and ensured they were charged to the company.

They're just in a different class altogether.

Tanith; do I know you? This happened to me (although I did post about it on here at the time and it wasn't the driver it was a local manager or something). Ocado rock.

ageing5yearseachyear · 12/07/2010 18:41

ocado not uber expensive- price match tesco- waitrose own stuff cheaper and waitrose essential stuff is brilliant!

i once had a payment refused on ocado- but they delivered the shopping- i only knew when i went in to order again and it flagged up as problem with the previous weeks payment. could this be a break out of trusting your customer?

NeedCoffee · 12/07/2010 18:43

Only used Asda once and the fresh goods where mouldy and used tesco a few times but every single time I have to call them as they miss something or like the last time the green beans where out of date. I als o got accused of being a liar the last time. Hate them both and wish Waitrose delivered to my area. Only had Sainsbury's once and it was very good service so will probably use them again.

Really hope you get sorted, bad service in the UK is so common and not acceptable. I would love to move to a country that insisted on good CS.

colditz · 12/07/2010 18:44

Appalling, I had no idea they would behave so badly.

Thank GOD for Morrisons. I'll not use Asda again, I had an awful row with their customer services vacant twats department.

My tweet, feel free to copy or adapt if you are on twitter:

Please RT #asda debit mumsnet member's account, refuse to deliver shopping or refund. £24 in the bank to feed family for wk @dom_asdapr

Seona1973 · 12/07/2010 18:57

have the funds actually left your account or are they just reserved off of your available balance? IF they are only reserved then your bank should be able to remove the earmark from the funds and the money would be available again. I used to work for a bank and we could remove the earmark with a managers authorisation. It should be quicker to do this than wait for Asda to refund you (if the bank was willing to help you!)

SanctiMoanyArse · 12/07/2010 18:58

'Something similar happened in the last deep snow. Asda couldn't deliver (faair enough - no-one was going anywhere) but people had no shopping, and Bank accounts were debited so could not pay in store."

My Ocado order was delivered by a driver who had dug his way out of every one of his 17 drops and didn't miss a single delivery. Wonderful company!

'

er eyah

I love my Waitrose driver but when he came out (in weather I wouldn't have- our village seriously treacherous in snow, every way in is either a hill or a hill with a river (and gravestones alongside) or a hill with a river down a sheer drop......) he told me exactly what pressure he was put under (basically, do it or bye) to deliver.

Alledgedly natch.

Ocado code VOU6197081 £15 off your first shop if it's over £75. Members can get new people money off too if they are 'recommended'

MrsGokWan · 12/07/2010 19:26

We had this problem with Asda last year and it left me with no money in my account and no food delivery.

I will not use them again.

I now use Sainsbury's and have had some lovely service from them.

Would love to do Waitrose or Ocado but they don't deliver in this area, although they do deliver 10 miles down the road.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 19:26

Perth Asda did similar to us at Christmas except it was not a food shop.
I immediately cancelled the order but they had taken the money and REFUSED to cancel the order.
We were told to refuse the delivery but they amazingly left it anyway. (Amazing as we were completely snowed in at the time so they waited until the road was clear and dropped it off.)

I would never shop with them again.

Jackstini · 12/07/2010 19:38

Glad you got a nice person at head office, they usually are really nice there - just sorry they cannot do more for you.
Like Tanith says - Ocado sent a driver, bought the shopping and delivered it - wonder what Asda's answer would be for that suggestion?
I have had a similar nightmare with Tesco, we & some friends had ordered a delivery to a holiday cottage and they coudn't find it. Instead of calling us for directions whilst they were nearby though, they took all the shopping back to the store and then called! They refused to come out again that night so we were stuck in Angelsey on the first night of a holiday with 3 very hungry kids under 4, no food, drinks or nappies (bar a couple in the handbag!) Luckily we found a local co-op open for essentials and ate fish & chips that evening! Tesco finally delivered 24 hours late after 3 ranty phone calls and they gave me 30 quid off.

nannynick · 12/07/2010 19:39

Why did Asda not call to say there was a payment error? Why does the bank have the funds allocated, yet Asda say the transaction didn't authorise?

Something has clearly gone wrong... be it with Asda or the bank. When Asda knew something went wrong... why didn't they call?

mrswells · 12/07/2010 19:40

asda delivery sucks - only ever used it once - half my stuff was missing, things i had not ordered appeared.

it was due between 4 & 6pm and at 5.55 i was called to be told it was going to be an hour late - but that was ok as they had called me before the end of my slot to say they would be late, even though they left the store late so knew in advance of the delay.

oh and when i said to the driver that i'd never had this problem with tesco before - i was told that i should stick to shopping at tesco then!!

SwansEatQuince · 12/07/2010 19:41

pissedoffrightnow - if you are in the Perthshire area then I can give you plenty of food, staples, eggs and veg to see you through until you get this sorted out.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 19:58

Swans-Thank you, am too far away, and got essentials on tick from local shop to see me through, but thank you ever so much for the offer.

nannynick · 12/07/2010 20:13

So has Asda said why they didn't call you when they noticed a problem with the payment?

shelley1977 · 12/07/2010 20:13

I used asda lots till recently when they mucked up and waited 2 weeks for them to sort it and then only because i went into the store.I dont use tesco either after numerous problems.
I stick to sainsbury's or the local Coop these days.
Pissedrightoff really hope it gets sorted quickly for you,i know i would be in a similar situation if it happened to me.

williewalshsballs · 12/07/2010 20:21

well. this is just not good enough. Every 3 weeks I spend about £120 on nappies, formula and things like t0hat always on offer. As we speak I've got an order going that's not been placed.
They always, guaranteed, forget something or break something, or deliver the wrong thing. How hard is it to sort out bulk items - 6 boxes of formula, 3 boxes of nappies, 5 bottles of flash, etc???. It's a pain

The first time I went in to asda (last year ) I bought some doughnuts, only to get home and discover they were out of date . I emailed and never heard back from them, vowed to never buy perishable goods from there.

ASDA, ON THE BACK OF THIS DEBACLE, AND THE STORE'S INABILITY TO EVER GET MY VERY SIMPLE ORDER CORRECT, I AM WALKING AWAY FROM YOU TODAY, I WILL TRY TESCO. THIS HHAS GIVEN ME THE PUSH I NEEDED
