To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

pissedrightoff · 11/07/2010 20:17

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

"If you are a journalist and would like to speak with our press officer call 0113 243 5435 to speak with one of the ASDA PR team"

Perhaps everyone should call, tell them they are losing HUNDREDS of customers and link them to this thread: they sound utterly pants to be honest. Tesco are bad for consistently providing just-before, out-of-date food.

WhatWouldMadonnaDo · 12/07/2010 17:35

This is terrible.

I will not be using Asda after this. What appalling customer service.

bossyboop · 12/07/2010 17:38

When i shopped online at asda i gave up on the mouldy fruit and veg so stopped ordering that stuff and had to go to the asda shop myself to buy it to make sure it was decent, then i thought why on earth am i paying for a delivery charge when i have to travel to the supermarket regardless to get fresh produce. I switched to sainsburys who recently refunded an item straightaway that was on my receipt but not delivered. I did use asda a couple of times in the last 2 years simply as they offer a bit my choice in terms of household items that can also be delivered with your groceries and they still were awful each time. This thread will serve as a reminder to me to never be tempted to use them again. All companies make mistakes but asda do it time and time again.

Besides their 2 for £2 offers annoy me when the items in question are £1 each anyway.

When i made the switch from asda i registered with tesco and sainsburys filled a trolley with each and found sainsburys could offer better deals on the items I buy, so might be worth a go if anyone is thinking of switching.

Anyone on Twitter and care to drop him a line?

bossyboop · 12/07/2010 17:45

Well done to sainsburys and tescos though who will be getting lots more business now

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 17:49

Yup, It's tesco all the way for me now.

TBH if it was'nt for my local shop giving me credit,I'd be well screwed.
My friend's are all as skint as we are.

The thing is usually I have LOADS of food in the house, but this month I had used everything up and was only buying weekly according to my meal planning in an effort to try and save money.

I have always shopped online with Tesco and have only had one late delivery (a whole 5 minutes), they apologised profusely and refunded the delivery cost immediately. I have considered looking into Asda because I thought it might be a bit cheaper, but after reading this thread... No way, I shall steer well clear.
I hope you receive the biggest, fattest apology from them.

caramelwaffle · 12/07/2010 17:51

Hels and co. If you are doing your jobs properly (and are therefore reading this thread) might I suggest you Ohhhhhhh - refund pissedrightoff her money, provide her with a grocery shop worth at least £200, a years supply of nappies and a nice bouquet of flowers. That's a start.

sethstarkaddersmum · 12/07/2010 17:55

I had a similar experience with Tesco actually.... they failed to deliver my order three times and charged my card again each time then said it would take a fortnight to refund (though actually they did refund it quicker than that when I made a fuss).
It was in 2003 though and they may have improved since then - I wouldn't know as I haven't shopped with them since. (Supermarkets take note, online grocery customers are like elephants, we never forget.)

Tanith · 12/07/2010 17:56

"Something similar happened in the last deep snow. Asda couldn't deliver (faair enough - no-one was going anywhere) but people had no shopping, and Bank accounts were debited so could not pay in store."

My Ocado order was delivered by a driver who had dug his way out of every one of his 17 drops and didn't miss a single delivery. Wonderful company!

No, I don't have shares with them, before you ask

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 17:57

Caramel- That would be nice but if today is anything to go by, I don't fancy my chances.

I am def pissedrightoff by name and nature today as Asda had good deals on nappies/wipes/baby food and were a bit cheaper than tesco, but if this is the shoddy way they treat their customers, frankly I'd rather spend the extra £5/£10 elsewhere.

Anyone up for a campaign to get Ocado delivering in the Highlands of Scotland???????They sound lovely.

OP posts:
usualsuspect · 12/07/2010 17:57

be careful of tescos

caramelwaffle · 12/07/2010 18:00

I think it is the least you deserve. Good luck with everything.

(Asda - Mumsnetters are watching)

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 18:01

Yikes-Tesco is my only other option......Could do a ''Good life'' plant my own veg, get a cow etc maybe not, am scared of cows

whats that show on the bbc that man with the bald head is on, he always seems to be sorting things like this out

caramelwaffle · 12/07/2010 18:03

Don't get done - get Dom

pebblejones · 12/07/2010 18:04

I've never noticed any ghost payment whatsits, it sounds well dodgy; can someone definitely clarify, they appear to take 2 payments off you and then refund one of them? And you essentially wouldn't know this unless you were at your limit bank wise and didn't have the funds to pay twice?
What an absurd way of doing it?
I just downloaded the Ocado app, Ocado are Waitrose aren't they? Are they uber expensive?

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 18:06

Yes think Ocado are Waitrose.
They are always spoken of very highly on here and it looks like they will be getting more business after this.

OP posts:
MisSalLaneous · 12/07/2010 18:10

No pebblejones, ocado is cheaper than waitrose instore, as they price match a lot of products with Tesco etc. It's always been consistently good quality too.

WingsTHEangel · 12/07/2010 18:12

Tesco take £2 when you checkout and refund it later.
Asda seem to take full payment the night before delivery. Going by my online banking.

Have had a few problems with Asda which always take several phone calls and I always e mail too.

Wallace · 12/07/2010 18:23

I don't live in Boat but in a village close by beginning with C

I'll soon know who you are when I see you in the paper

I would have loved to have rushed over with a food parcel but we are in a similar situation financially at the moment (3 bithdays in a month!) Glad the local shop stepped in

Fontella · 12/07/2010 18:24

Wow, horrified at what I've read here. It's outrageous.

SylvanianFamily · 12/07/2010 18:25

It's so unnecessary for them to be so ungracious.

LimaCharlie · 12/07/2010 18:30

Another one who will never shop there again - shitty shitty customer service - are you listening ASDA

Comewhinewithme · 12/07/2010 18:30

Asda could do more to help I once bought a microwave from them and it blew up and melted my steriliser I rang the store and within the hour a member of staff had come to my house with a new microwave ,steriliser and a gift voucher they also took the blown up stuff away.

They are seriously treating you like shit .
