To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

pissedrightoff · 11/07/2010 20:17

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

grrrr....is that show 'watchdog' still on the telly?! they'd love this!

Condensedmilkaddict · 12/07/2010 13:11

I would call them and say that if your groceries are not delivered by the end of the day, you will be contacting the local television station and newspaper.

IndigoSky · 12/07/2010 13:14

I'm appalled.

Asda have taken your money and are refusing to give it back?

Why is that not a criminal offence?

How about starting a thread in caps with "Asda has taken money from my account but is refusing to give it back or deliver my shopping" as the title. Someone at Asda might see it. Or someone from the press who's looking for a story.

I hope this gets sorted today for you.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:17

Condensed, I have tried that one, they say they can't deliver an order without me ordering it myself online and paying AGAIN!!!!

Bloody nightmare. A stongly worded letter needs to be written but am shit at putting things into words, maybe should just print out this thread and send it to them.

Checkmate · 12/07/2010 13:18

Do as condensedmilkaddict says. Where do you live in the country, and someone here might have a journo from a local rag to put you in touch with.

I was considering trying Asda, but won't now.

IndigoSky · 12/07/2010 13:18

Tell them that if the money isn't in your account by the end of today you'll go to the press.

They can transfer it instantly if they want to.

Checkmate · 12/07/2010 13:19

yy to printing out this thread. But everything by letter will be too slow. Email them, copying this into email, with strongly worded letter. Go to the press too.

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:22

I live in the highlands of Scotland (Boat Of Garten) tiny village, nearest tesco in Aviemore 15 mins away, no car at the moment though.

I will start a new thread and link it to this(well I'll try to anyway)

Is online shopping that bad?

I was hoping to use it during the holidays but I just know I will get all the broken eggs, mouldy fruit and almost out of date milk.

Is it just ASDA or the others as well?

Do you have a copy of your online order, an e-mail or basket list. That could prove you have ordered and you could cite off dispatch and order references.

Can your bank sort out an emergency overdraft for the week. It is ASDA's mistake but you are left in the red not the bank or ASDA. Ask the bank if they will do it to invoice ASDA for the OD interest. That alone might get your money back in your account.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 12/07/2010 13:23

I'd be throwing the sale of goods atc at them. Do you want some legal stuff to throw at them? They are not supposto take the payment until the goods have been sent out of the depot (it's in the sale of goods act somewhere)

Try Ocado next time (I do love them so am biased), they don't take the payment until the delivery has been delivered to your house. Most items are Twatsco price matched aswell so it's cheaper then you think.

I have an hour if you want something scary for your letter.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 12/07/2010 13:25

I can get you some money off if you let me recommend Ocado to you, they are usually very good, always turn up on time, friendly drivers.

Can you get a letter from your bank, and email from ASDA saying they didn't take the cash, then go to your local ASDA and ask for a cash refund??

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:27

Oh Belle, yes please, thanks ever so much. The more vicious the better, am quite willing to take this all the way. They have left my family without food and to their knowledge no way of getting any.

(Local shop have agreed to let me have some stuff on tick so will manage the week food/milk wise, luckily have a huge supply of nappies already)

Actually, ages ago I ordered some electrical goods from them with delivery to local store. What a farce. Never again.

I also used to fill car up at their petrol station. £30 to £40 per week, paid by debit card. I noticed a large sum had been take out of my account one week and when I enquired it was asda taking 6 seperate payments at once Payments I assumed had already cleared, dating back weeks.

Fuckers.

zipzap · 12/07/2010 13:28

What would happen if you reported them to the police for stealing your money?

if they (or their incapable systems) have taken money and they are refusing to return it when asked, doesn't that count as theft or stealing or robbing or something? (I seem to remember that there are technical legal differences between things like theft and stealing)

Might make an interesting headline - Asda steals money from young mum's bank account.

Are you close enough to a sainsburys or tesco or waitrose/ocado to get a delivery? Any chance you could ring up a local store and speak to the manager, explain what's happened, that you only have £24 left for the next 10 days until money is refunded, that asda have screwed you over badly and how much is their minimum order - you might be able to get them to do a sympathy order and then get the local paper to cover how great they were when asda were rubbish and get them some good publicity when asda get bad (which would make theirs even better) - even speak to the local paper and see if they could recommend which supermarket has a good manager, so you could start by saying 'the local paper said you were really wonderful yadda yadda yadda'

good luck in getting hold of supplies!

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:29

Thanks Belle, don't think Ocado deliver here though (I'll look into it though)

Nearest Asda is over an hour away, I do love living in the sticks usually but at times like these........

rupert22 · 12/07/2010 13:29

Oh I so know where you are coming from. They did this to me. One Sat delivery was to come between 6 and 8pm. No show, no answer on phone no listed, store wouldnt answer either. Needed the delivery, friends round, wanted the wine. Then finally they called me at 11pm to say could they deliver!! Told them to shove off. But still they took the money. I went to the evening paper and got it refunded the next day,

Will never use them again tho. I know things can go wrong and delivery can be late, but a phone call is all you ask for,

Jackstini · 12/07/2010 13:33

Call Asda head office on 0113 2435345 or email a link to this thread to [email protected]
The managers absolutely hate bad customer service and will want to sort it out. (although the call centre people you have been speaking to obviously don't give a monkey's)
Good luck

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:33

My threats of going to the press unless money back in the account were ignored.

Am going to look up the number for my local paper.

OP posts:
Jackstini · 12/07/2010 13:34

PS - I don't work for them btw, but am a supplier so know their head office policies!

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:34

Thanks Jackstini, phoning them now x

OP posts:
pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 13:39

that number was'nt recognised Jackstini, maybe they've changed it???

OP posts:
belledechocolatefluffybunny · 12/07/2010 13:42

Distance selling regulations cover internet shopping but what you need is also the Sale of Goods Act, you have a contract with them as you have paid and they are claiming that you have not. You can take them to the small claims court to get this back but to be honest, all of this is dull.

It's far better to tell them you are going to contact the BBC watchdog programme as they have tried to take 2 lots of payment from you and have left you and your family with no food and no money.

rupert22 · 12/07/2010 13:43

can you not call trading standards?

pissedrightoff · 12/07/2010 14:00

On hold with head office now, that number did work, it must have been me dialling it wrongly, thanks again Jackstini

williewalshsballs · 12/07/2010 14:06
