To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

pissedrightoff · 11/07/2010 20:17

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

Keep that sense of humour pissedrightoff

jumpingjackhash · 13/07/2010 15:56

Glad they're getting your shopping to you (hope it's fresh and hasn't just been sitting in a van for days)... shame they're being too short-sighted not to just say sorry and at least try to make up for their monumental lack of customer relations skills...

Who knows though, they might just surprise us all

I can't believe they're actually taking your money!! The least they could do is send it with no charge!!

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 13/07/2010 16:04

I'm so pleased you are getting your shopping.

Now, what else needs sorting out:
refund for the money you now owe your local shop
refund for the phone calls
a good will gesture for the stress

sound fair? Have I missed anything out?

I grew up very close to the forest FloFlo, the one where people used to dump dead bodies as it's huge and everyone sounds like they are from Brum. There were a couple of mines there.

caramelwaffle · 13/07/2010 16:05

There is always (cough) the Trade Press

As you were.

rupert22 · 13/07/2010 16:13

yes, the trade press, great idea. Would you like me to do it PRO?

I have emailed asda with copies of my past years orders, comes to over 4000 pounds. Well not any more.wouldnt use them again, they have been ropey enough with me, but what they did to you was shocking.

Rentatoast · 13/07/2010 16:13

I'm fuming on your behalf!

My occasional ASDA visits will be reduced to zero from now on.

Wonder if the food has been sitting in a van for the last 3 days and is due/past its sell-by date?

pissedrightoff · 13/07/2010 16:13

Yup Belle, that about covers it and will be including all of that in my letter to head office, now where's my call back from Daily Mail????

It remains to be seen whether they were, or were not, at fault.

If they claim they were not at fault, then maybe they can check their logs (should match the bank's record of transactions) and see why they {X} requested the money at 23:55.

{X} clearly it was either ASDA or some other company which handles the payment requests. It needs clarification from either ASDA or the Bank, or better still, BOTH, as to how this mess happened.

All the more reason to let the BBC get their teeth into it.

Given there have been others with similar complaints, it's an issue which could affect almost anyone who shops with any store, but it is a bigger problem if you happen to spend more than 50% of what's in your current account, as you are then unable to make a further order, or could go overdrawn and face penalties.

funkychunkymunky · 13/07/2010 16:16

I'm not holding my breath. I'm not sure your shopping will turn up. If it does it'll be out of date...

MisSalLaneous · 13/07/2010 16:16

Asda, lesson in customer service for you: I ordered a take-away online from one of those websites covering the area the other day, and thought I'd try a new place.

Giant mix-up from restaurant, first tried to deliver to the wrong address, and when I called to explain that that must be what is wrong the restaurant / take away place "manager" called me a lier (said they tried calling me THIRTY (???) times whilst standing at my door (entry is through a gate, so impossible!)), got really abusive and put the phone down in my ear when I said that I require them to refund my card and cancel the order. This was after more than an hour and a half. When the food eventually arrived just before 12pm, the delivery guy refused to take it back, and we binned it.

I e-mailed the company (hungryhouse), who was fab, hugely apologetic, immediately refunded my money and gave me a voucher for the inconvenience and distress. This was technically not their fault (was the restaurant's), but as they make money from me, they took responsibility and said they'd sort out the situation with the restaurant, I shouldn't have had to go through that.

I have since ordered through them again and will continue doing so, as they take customer service seriously. This is a small company. Why can a big company not do the same?? You still make money from your customers, so any processing problems should be yours to sort with the bank. And you should apologise for the inconvenience caused BY SHOPPING WITH YOU.

pissedrightoff · 13/07/2010 16:17

Rupert, that would be great, I would really appreciate it

Wonder whether it will be actually between 5-6...

JustKeepSwimming · 13/07/2010 16:19

Very interested to see what 5-6 brings...

On a side note, my Asda delivery arrived today (on time, correct bar 2 substitutions - spray suncream changed to non-spray so no biggie) and i got chatting to the young chap.

His van was dying on him and the fumes were coming into the cab - he had been told to keep driving/delivering regardless and was unhappy about this.
I said 'oh there's been some negative stuff on the internet about Asda...' and he knew about it, no specific mentions of MN but still we have reached the real world

Then he said that the system is nuts as people are allowed to order until midnight for next day deliveries but there isn't the staff to manage these last minute orders.
Not enough people to pick the shopping and not enough deliverers either.
He said the van drivers have been getting into work an hour early to try and get home on time but are still over-running and they are all unhappy.

Then about an hour later i looked out the window and realise he broke down about 4 houses down
Have been out and given him a Diet Coke (he's youngish so i'm thinking maybe not tea?) and he was grateful.

Repair/recovery van has turned up now - DC very interested and keeping me informed, lol!

So sorry if you live round here and are expecting a delivery, it's stuck on my road

Comewhinewithme · 13/07/2010 16:21

Glad it is getting sorted PRO!

Wish I hadn't posted on MSE we are according to them a bunch of chavs .

NetworkGuy · 13/07/2010 16:23

If they do get the money, they will need to refund the cost of the Sunday newspaper!

Otherwise it might be taking money under false pretences

(Seems like that all along, ASDA, given you/ your card processor have deprived the customer of her money, yet failed to deliver.)

caramelwaffle · 13/07/2010 16:23

Really CWWM?

Hahaha

pissedrightoff · 13/07/2010 16:24

Justkeepswimming- I bet we are the hot topic at tea-break time in the Asda staff room

Oh yes and they think PRO is trying to gain sympathy by failing to mention a DH in her OP .

We are all feckless buggers who are teaching our children bad language and should be ashamed and rename this site CHAVSNET!!

WingsTHEangel · 13/07/2010 16:25

Very good that you are getting your shopping, but you have had to use what little money you had spare to buy what should have been delivered 3 days ago.

I have done my usual Asda shop online at Sainsbury's for next week and will continue to us Sainbury's as I'm not that keen on Tesco.

pissedrightoff · 13/07/2010 16:26

CWWM whats MSE?
