To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

It is no longer about whether the bank or Asda are in the right.

That is the legal side.

What Asda are doing here is misreading the PR side of the issue, which is absolutely astonishing.

The OP has been waiting since Sunday for her groceries, she has no money and has had to get groceries on tick from her local shop. She has a baby to feed.

This thread is up to 500 messages, it has been discussed on Twitter, emailed to Asda, to the press. And still Asda is stubbornly sticking to their legal rights.

Mad.

Thank you for your message.

Dear VEYRON

Thanks for getting in touch.

We've got your email and will reply as soon as possible.

If you need any extra help, please let us know.

Kind Regards

ASDA Service Team

I emailed them yesterday afternoon! nearly 24 hours ago and I get a generic response!

I had my automated response from TESCO within an hour!

ShirleyKnot · 13/07/2010 14:22

We do what we do, for you.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 13/07/2010 14:23

So, the three plus days where this money isn't in the OP's account, who is getting interest on it?

NetworkGuy · 13/07/2010 14:23

EricNorthmansmistress - nice idea with the PayPal thing but PP would get two lots of payments - they take 20p plus 3.4% for personal transactions, so they'd end up getting nearly 7% (plus lots of 20p sums).

(I know PRO doesn't want cash as things stand, but just to make people aware that sending direct to a person makes better sense if anything similar happens again, oh, and using a GMail account is perhaps one of the easiest free mail accounts you can get, and not tied to any ISP, so changing ISP is not a problem!)

Fingers crossed for you PRO.

Come on ASDA - you've had several hours now
(not to mention the last few days, though I guess it was filed in the 'do nothing' container... the round one in the corner on the floor that gets emptied each night!)

ruthosaurus · 13/07/2010 14:23

pissed, who's your MP, love?

gingermarmalade · 13/07/2010 14:23

Can't believe they haven't sorted this yet. Do they really think we are all going to go away quietly. Lets hope some national media picks this story up. Going to forward this link to every parenting site I use and all my facebook. Would be happy to contribute to a collection if one is set up.

NetworkGuy · 13/07/2010 14:23

belle - the bank, since they have not handed it over to ASDA

weblette · 13/07/2010 14:24

I don't do Twitter but come on Mumsnet Towers, get something out on the feed about this!

GoodnightNobody · 13/07/2010 14:24

I'm another lurker who won't be placing an order with ASDA.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 13/07/2010 14:26

At least it's not ASDA

well, if you are going to contact people in the media

geordieminx · 13/07/2010 14:26

How much effort would have it taken to get someone in the Asda to a shop in sotre - baby items, milk, bread, whatever else was in the order, whack it in back of the car along with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of wine and get it to the OP yesterday

Disgraceful.

Will not be going back to Asda either.

WingsTHEangel · 13/07/2010 14:28

Just doing a Sainsbury shop for next week, you can write a shopping list and then it finds the products you want.
I did get my Asda order this morning but won't be getting one again {Sticks tongue out smiley]

geordieminx · 13/07/2010 14:29

Someone should send a copy of this to Tesco PR... I bet they would love it.

WarrenPeace · 13/07/2010 14:29

if you can't say anything helpful then butt out, ok?

ShatnersBassoon · 13/07/2010 14:30

Still agog. This fiasco needs a happy ending, sharpish.

Come on Asda, you're making yourselves look petty, unsympathetic and greedy. Nice look for a supermarket

WarrenPeace · 13/07/2010 14:30

i think there is a LARGE degree of hysteria here

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 13/07/2010 14:31

Haaa!

IndigoSky · 13/07/2010 14:31

Snort at Warren - the woman who threw her toys out of the pram because Trinny and Susannah didn't answer her questions about fat people on their show....

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 13/07/2010 14:32
