To wonder where the hell is my shopping and/or money?

Last night I checked my bank account online, £105.00 is the balance. Fine, I'll do an online shop at asda to arrive tomorrow.
Total shopping comes to £80.76.

Shopping does not arrive today and when I call to enquire why, I am told that there were insufficent funds in my account.

I then check online balance,£24.24 suggesting that between last night and now £80.76 has been debited.
Phoned bank to make enquiries and indeed Asda have taken the amount and bank gave me the authorisation number.I ask if it is possible that it is a pending payment, bank says no, as it has come off the balance then the payment has went through.

Phone Asda back, not helpful in the slightest, They say that they have not recieved the money, I tell them I have an authorisation code from my bank and an available balance which says otherwise. They say they will look into it and call me back at midday tomorrow.

So I now have only £24,Very little food, live in the back of beyond so no shops, will have to take two buses to a tesco tomorrow to see how far my £24 will stretch for baby food, milk and wipes.

Where is my money if it's not in my bank and Asda say they don't have it????

I suspect WarrenPeace works for Asda PR.

BreevandercampLGJ · 13/07/2010 14:34

This jaw droppingly bad customer service.

caramelwaffle · 13/07/2010 14:34

WarrenPeace - I'm sure if we put our collective heads together, we could solve that little problem as well. Yes, indeedy.

weblette · 13/07/2010 14:34

Hmm if it had happened to you I'm not sure you'd be describing it as a minor shopping issue.

WarrenPeace.
God forbid anything like this happens to you.
The OP has had money taken from her account and has not recived the order that she has paid for. Due to this she has been left with verry little money and no food. What do you think she should do?

WarrenPeace · 13/07/2010 14:35

no
I have been to Brownhills market though.
Does that count?

NetworkGuy · 13/07/2010 14:35

"supermarket shopping story not the fall of the Taliban"

True, but it's not going to be too long before cheques are removed completely, and plastic / cash will be the only way to buy in shops.

Here it's a financial service issue, where a store has (through poor computer procedures) 'blocked' a customer's ability to use their own money, and a deadlock of the bank and store saying "not our fault", so this is an area where the customer needs protection.

If the financial services aren't up to the job, and the store isn't able or willing to accept responsibility, then it needs laws to force them to fix these problems, and that's where an MP has a part to play (plus a quiet word to ASDA to tell them to get their finger out).

StarExpat · 13/07/2010 14:35

just read this through. This is ridiculous.
I shopped with asda once and everything about the experience was horrendous. It isn't actually all that much cheaper, either. If people were made aware of this perhaps they'd stop using them. Horrible, horrible company.

pissedrightoff · 13/07/2010 14:36

WarrenPeace
Being unable to feed my child-NOT a minor issue for me, if you are not interested away and post on another thread, How f*ing dare you

EricNorthmansmistress · 13/07/2010 14:36

Oh Do Fuck off WarrenPeace. Really. OP is broke, has a baby and PND, and has had her food shopping money effectively stolen for a week. Do you think your 'status' means you can come along and be an insensitive prick all over any thread you like?

caramelwaffle · 13/07/2010 14:39

Asda PR. Take note. THIS is how twonks are dealt with ^

MmeLindt · 13/07/2010 14:39

Warren
Much as I laughed at your comment, it is not a laughing matter for the OP.

Although I do agree that writing to her MP is perhaps not quite the next step to take. Much better to take the piss out of Asda on here, and on Twitter.

WingsTHEangel · 13/07/2010 14:40

It isn't a minor shopping issue when you work on a tight budget Warr en peace.

Fontella · 13/07/2010 14:41

MInor shopping issue?

Shopping ordered, money gone from bank account. No shopping - three days pass - no sign of money or shopping. Family (with very young baby) have to ask local shop for credit in order to get some food in, get people to drive them to nearest Tescos (some distance away) to get nappies and babyfood with the few quid left in the account after Asda have ringfenced the rest.

And that in your opinion, is a 'minor shopping issue'?

Minor shopping issue my arse! It's outrageous.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 13/07/2010 14:42

Brownhills market is hardly the same.
