To wonder why Tampax bother including the purple ones in their selection boxes?

Does anyone ever use them? I always end up with dozens of them...

Personally i could do with a couple more green ones, a few less yellows and none of the purple.

I've always wondered the same thing!! The ones for 'lighter flow'

I'd need about 8 of those

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/07/2010 14:24

Selection boxes sound like something you get at christmas. FWIW, i often use mini towards the end of my period.
Could you save them for your dd to use or donate them to a friend with a young teenager.

bran · 11/07/2010 14:24

Are the purple ones the very light flow? I used to mostly use them and hardly ever they heavier ones because of my PCOS. Then I started taking Metformin and started to have normal periods, which was a bit of a shock to the system, but I still used the purple ones for the last day or so.

Now I use a Mooncup which is fab. I left it at home once when travelling and had to buy and use tampons instead, it was awful.

Like waving a pencil in the Albert Hall.

staranise · 11/07/2010 14:26

If you're on Mirena, purple ones suffice.

SloanyPony · 11/07/2010 14:26

They are for your daughters Barbie, you are not meant to use them yourself...

melpomene · 11/07/2010 14:26

I agree, get a Mooncup - problem solved and you'll save loads of money.

YouMightKnowMe · 11/07/2010 14:28

Buy a box of yellow and a box of green and sod the selection boxes.

That way you will use up all tht you buy and can top up on Yellow or green as necesasary.

I bet it works out cheaper too.

Jasonthunderpants · 11/07/2010 14:28

Are the purple ones like the purple Quality streets (the cornish pastie shaped ones with a big nut inside)
They are my favourite

Nancy66 · 11/07/2010 14:28

Can't do the Mooncup thing...too squeamish.

My ideal box would include a few orange ones too..

i use Lil-lets (non-applicator) as opposed to Tampax, but i always used the Mini ones right up until i had DC, and now i use Regular. Just looking at the Supersize ones makes my fanny wince

Jasonthunderpants · 11/07/2010 14:31

Oh something makes me think you are not talking about chocolates

kreecherlivesupstairs · 11/07/2010 14:33

Genehunt, when we were on holiday in Australia some years ago, I asked my DH to get me some super plus, he came home with a box of regular and a box of super . When I asked him to explain this extraordinary choice he said they hadn't had SP on the shelves and he didn't like to ask teh assistants as they were all female.
I asked what I was supposed to do with them, his answer floored me. Use one of each.

scrab806ble · 11/07/2010 14:37

Need the super plus extra these days, and often a nappy(st) as well. Sigh. Being on the pill was great...

ChateauRouge · 11/07/2010 14:38

I always need the purple ones- go from green to purple in 36 hours usually

dorie · 11/07/2010 14:39

Awww GeneHunts Mistress. Is your OH not very well endowed then?

plonker · 11/07/2010 14:43

@ Jason

SoLongAsItsHealthy · 11/07/2010 14:47

Tampax selection box . Now there's a treat for that hard-to-buy-for relative at Christmas...

Carbonated · 11/07/2010 14:52

Yeah but there's always the hard caramel one that no one likes (for very good reasons in the case of tampax. Very low absorbancy).

tethersend · 11/07/2010 14:55

The coffee cream of the sanitary protection world.

MaryAnnSingleton · 11/07/2010 14:57

I do quite like the thin purple ones

Daffydilly · 11/07/2010 15:19

Am I the only person who doesn't know what a "mooncup" is? Please enlighten me!

ILovePlayingDarts · 11/07/2010 16:22

I want the purple ones, but I can't find any in my local shops! As Staranise wrote, if you're on Mirena, that's all you need. (and it's a helluva lot better that my eight days of super-heavy flow pre-dcs)

Never tried a mooncup, but might look into it (figuratively speaking...).
