To wonder why Tampax bother including the purple ones in their selection boxes?

Does anyone ever use them? I always end up with dozens of them...

Personally i could do with a couple more green ones, a few less yellows and none of the purple.

if using a tampon doesn't make you squeamish, a mooncup won't
trust me, after years of using a mooncup, last thing i want to do is stick a squeaky fibrous kind of stick up myself and then pull it out with that excrutiating draaaaaaaag, then chuck it in the bin to sit there reeking

cece · 11/07/2010 16:26

I love my mooncup

compo · 11/07/2010 16:27

I use them on the last day
need green at the beginning and definitely at night
then yellow then purple
are you all richer for knowing that

heymammy · 11/07/2010 16:30

Oh gawd Kooks, you just made me clench thinking about that draaaaaag . Must give my mooncup another chance. Couldn't quite get it to sit right so it felt like it was falling out all the time.

homebirthmummy4 · 11/07/2010 21:18

daffydilly www.mooncup.co.uk
they are fab, anyone know how soon postnatal they can be used, dd4 will be 5 weeks tomorrow.

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 11/07/2010 21:27

Dh brought the purple ones home after being sent in emergency tampax run this week

A cotton bud would have been more effective

As for at supers, have you never had sex, woman?
Tis the absorbency not size
Requiring super plus is not a reflection on fanny size

though having giving birth to 8 pounder with no stitches perhaps I am deluding self

TrillianAstra · 11/07/2010 21:31

Kooks - if it draaaaags then you need a purple one, as it's too dry.

Buying a selection box of a non-expiring product when you don't need one of the flavours is a ridiculous thing to do. Buy whole boxes of the colours you do need. They dno't exactly go off.

KatyMac · 11/07/2010 21:34

While we are on the subject of sanitary protection

I use a Mooncup - occasionally I have cystitis during a period so I need a pad

Can anyone fine me one that doesn't have wings & isn't folded up?

The wings unstick & I get an allergy rash at the top of my legs & the sticky bit unsticks and folds up

I just want a plain ordinary one that stays where it's supposed to

14hourstillbedtime · 11/07/2010 21:34

I [heart emoticon] Jason Thunderpants!

ravenAK · 11/07/2010 21:35

Oh different absorbencies!

I saw the title & thought maybe it was like Cocktail Sobranies...

southeastastra · 11/07/2010 21:35

why cause he can't read thread titles properly?

LittleSilver · 11/07/2010 21:39

Too squamish?

Tut tut woman, if you can deal with a tampon you can deal with a mooncup. Really.

I love my mooncup, I do.

MonkeyChicken · 11/07/2010 21:49

pre babies I always used the purple ones. My periods were very light and the purple ones were for my heavy days and a panty liner surficed on the light days. These days a purple one would probably fit in sideways and would still shoot out if I sneezed! If you can use a purple one and had a vaginal birth you are very lucky, or perhaps you were much better at doing your pelvic floors than me!!!

HappySeven · 11/07/2010 22:16

I used to wish I could find the boxes of only purple ones (you used to be able to get them but I haven't seen them in years). Haven't had need of them yet since my second baby and am wondering whether things will have changed (vaginal delivery as opposed to crash section first time). I hope not!

HappySeven · 11/07/2010 22:17

PS Perhaps we could trade in future, my super-absorbency for your purple ones...

giraffesCanDanceInTheSun · 11/07/2010 22:23

Get a mooncup

Lougle · 11/07/2010 22:24

My periods were always very heavy. At the beginning I soak a super-plus (orange) within an 1.5-2 hours. But now that I have had DD3 (15mo) my periods are so long. I am on day 7 and still bleeding. Days 5 onwards, a purple suffices.

susia · 11/07/2010 22:24

well I have always used the purple ones for heavy days and a panty liner for light days. My periods only last 3 days max but they haven't changed and are no heavier since I had a 9lb baby!

susia · 11/07/2010 22:25

then again I always thought I was infertile (because of my light periods) until I conceived...

WinkyWinkola · 11/07/2010 22:28

I had a friend who got a period for three hours every month......

Nancy66 · 11/07/2010 22:43

I just can't get my head around the whole mooncup thing - I don't fancy walking around with a finger bowl full of blood up my fanny...

OP posts:
hester · 11/07/2010 22:48

I used to only use the purple ones. Then I got pregnant.... now I use them to correct eyeliner/nail varnish smudges.

It's orange all the way now

2shoes · 11/07/2010 22:48

you can get a tampax selection box!
I am shocked

CoupleofKooks · 12/07/2010 08:15

"I don't fancy walking around with a finger bowl full of blood up my fanny... "

i don't fancy walking round with a soggy blood soaked piece of over-priced cotton wool up my fanny

chaostrulyreigns · 13/07/2010 00:06

Maybe there should be a MN Tampax Swap topic.
