Can anybody please remind me what was the names/brand of those nut/soya/milk free chocolates?

DS has asked for a chocolate as a Christmas gift

I want to ask father Christmans for him to outgrow his allergies...

Kinnerton, you can get it in Saisnbury, Waitrose etc

Kinnerton is nut& dairy free and made in a nut free factory, you can get it in Saisnbury, Waitrose etc here

Is Plamil soya free? It is milk free.

But, is it soya free? most of the times milk lecithin is replaced by "vegetable protein" or emulsifiers which are in 98.5% of the times soya based. I will do a search to see if I find the ingredients, many thanks.

Don't think the Kinnerton is soya free Alibubbles.

Chandra - not sure how old your DS is and whether he will be happy with a slab of dark chocolate and some of them are quite bitter. Tescos dark organic chocolate is very very bitter but is OK cos it has sunflower lecithin in. I have just bought my DD (who is 15 and has dairy/soya allergy) some Plamil expressions (bars). It is made with sunflower lecithin and has lupin flour in it which supposedly makes it taste more like milk chocolate - I intend to put in her stocking, so we will find out what its like then! Plamil also do carob bars which DD says are quite nice (not quite like the real thing).

Don't know about you but I find the soya more of a problem than the dairy because it's sneaked into lots of things you don't even suspect.

Thanks for that, will go and have a look. Definitively agree about the soya, of all the allergens I have to avoid the only one that seems to be present in almost everything that has been processed in any way is soya.

Wonder about the carob, we saw some carob bars last weekend but wonder if they would be OK for a child who between other things has nut allergy... any experience about that?

I think your'll have to check the labels on the plain chocolate as I think most of them have may-contain-traces-of-nuts

Not sure about nut allergies - fortunately we don't have to deal with that one.

kinnerton is soya free.

they make boxes of after dinner mints, as well as the dark chocolate bars. That are nut milk egg and soya free.

kinnerton- I thought was nut free not soya free.
Certainly NOT dairy free.

(But if anyone knows of Dairy free chocolate for dd2 please do tell)

I was in Booths tonight and some of the fancier Kinnerton chocs werent dairy free tho.

yes , kinnerton DO produce a dairy free chocolate bar.

Which is also made in a nut/egg/soya free zone.

try sainsburys and asda, they have started using more types of kinnerton products this year.
Am really happy to find safe after dinner mints for my 10yr old.

My dd2 hates dark choc but I buy her the whizzers and footballs from Holland and Barratt. Dont know if they are nut and soya free though. But they do taste lovely.

oh, melt it over homemade sponge cakes, or dip in fruit. My son like harribo (sp?) jelly things, he has some of them stuck on cakes, with a bit of choc.
Skinney underweight child can get away with high fat sugar.................unlike every other member of his family!!

Yes dd2 is a slip of a thing too. Lots of things in the old fshioned sweetie shop ok for her luckily. Things could be a lot worse.

The football things from Holland and Barratt definitely aren't soya free. We have an added complication in that DD has recently had a brace fitted and can't really have super chewy sweets either - I guess it's better for her that way but very boring!

Have just been on Kinnerton site - no where does it mention soya free. Have just e mailed them - will let you know when I hear.

Kinnerton isn't soya free. Organica Premium Swiss Chocolate Couverture Bar is dairy and soya free (but it does contain hazlenut), and you can get it in health food shops and Waitrose. Waitrose is also selling a Stamp Collection chocolate Father Christmas which I think is alright (although we're not forking out that sort of money on our 1 year old!)

Ok, went to check at Sainsbury and unfortunately, with exception of some organic chocolate mints, everything had soya or milk, or may contain traces of nuts and... my local Sainsbury doesn't stock Kinnerton

So, I spend 7 pounds in this little box of chocolates, gave one to DS and... he didn't like it and got a rash on his cheek a minutes afterwards... will try Tesco tonight when DS goes to sleep...

I wouldn't risk anything with lupin flour unless your child has tested clear for it. Lupin is a common allergen. If his problems are only peanut and not tree nut you might try Green and Black. Although there's a nut warning they only had tree nuts in the factory last time I checked. Or try buying the raw nibs e.g here www.creative-nature.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=395

just tried to check on green and black and it looks like their may be soya in their factory, even if not in the chocolate, you'll need to check with them.
