I've started a new thread @feelinglesstired @paintcolourchart @88expertprocastinator @Legssses
We're all at different stages, but we all want the same thing.
I'll post more tomorrow as it's late and I'm feeling tired, but I'm excited for tomorrow and for getting those af days achieved.

Hello all,

Sorry I've been a bit absent on here - how is everyone doing? X

Thesoundofmusic23 · 24/04/2026 13:26

I’m nearly two weeks with no drink at all and feeling good and quite set on continuing. History tells me moderation doesn’t really work for me and whilst I don’t think I’m ready to stop for good I’m definitely moving in that direction so longer stretches free from booze feel good.

how’s everyone else doing?

Haggisfish3 · 25/04/2026 09:29

I’m managing to stick to sober Sunday-Thursday. Am going to try continue reducing weeend drinking as I’m sick of wafting had my Saturday in bed!

paintcolourchart · 12/05/2026 10:50

I'm an idiot and just posted on our old thread 😂 copying and pasting here:

Hello, how is everyone doing? @Goandygo@88expertprocastinator @FeelingLessTired and everyone else on here.

I'm back on it. 3 weeks today and keen to keep going. ! realised last night that if I keep going until the end of next month, I'll have done further than I did last year. Seems achievable! It didn't this time last year. Feeling really good. I actually scrolled through and read all my posts on here the other day. Around day 16 I noticed a massive debloat, and when I reread my posts on our first thread the same thing happened last year at a similar number of days. Very motivating!

88expertprocastinator · 12/05/2026 11:37

@paintcolourchart great to hear how well you’re doing! What has shifted to get you back and smashing it? You sound so positive and determined that I have no doubt you’ll easily make it to the end of the month.

still here - still sober but I guess not doing so well with healthy eating etc as had an awful cold/virus for over 3 weeks. Need to get back to full fitness and to stop indulging in mindless eating ….

paintcolourchart · 12/05/2026 12:13

@88expertprocastinator honestly? I think it's just breaking that 2 week barrier! After that it seems so much easier. I see the benefits by then and the cravings start to go because I can see how much better my life is without the consumption and mental gymnastics.

Sorry to hear you've not been well. Glad you're on the road to recovery now. Do you still get 'I fancy wine' feelings?

I am feeling really good, but this is very reminiscent of last year. Once I tried wine again I very quickly went back to old habits, so I don't want to do that again!

88expertprocastinator · 12/05/2026 12:59

@paintcolourchart oh god yes - I remember after 10 days af, something lifted and it all just felt easier…

I do not get any cravings for alcohol really and defo never wine again! I love the idea of sitting with a nice glass of red but I just have a sniff of it and it puts me off completely….

I’m also very realistic and know that, despite this break from alcohol, it really wouldn’t take much to get me back to where I was… I think of it like smoking - no ex smoker would start to reward themselves with the odd cigarette as it’s impossible to just have 1!

I look forward to watching your journey and will be here cheering you on from the sidelines - it is hard but it’s also achievable and definitely worth the hard days xx

paintcolourchart · 22/05/2026 20:05

@88expertprocastinator it's interesting what you say about smokers because I can definitely see how a relapse would be easy with a smoker but I've never really thought that way about alcohol. I guess it's the cucumber/pickle analogy from The Sober Diaries.

Thanks for the cheering on 🥰 it's been a month now. I'll admit I was a bit tempted earlier tonight but I wont have anything. I feel so much better. I'm also on a health kick so the weight is starting to come off. I've also got my crystals back out 😂 I've forgotten to check off on Try Dry a few times recently and I'm not in a rush to get my stars up when another week goes by like I was before, so that must be a good thing. Not sure why tonight was any different but I suppose it's not all linear.

Hope you're good and everyone else if they are still reading on here ❤️

88expertprocastinator · 22/05/2026 20:53

@paintcolourchart I didn’t dare post as wasn’t sure how you were doing and didn’t want to add any pressure but a super well done for a month - a real solid start! I miss hearing about your crystals too!

temptation is always there! Ladies were doing shots at golf and for one brief moment I thought why not - then I just thought about all the good things in life that I’d be giving up….
i still haven’t put any of the weight I lost back on even though I’ve relaxed my eating habits a bit. My bp went down so much I no longer take medication for it and my anxiety has totally gone. Also very pleased to report that DH has religiously stuck to only drinking 3 evenings a week which I feel is a much better compromise.

please post anytime you need to - I have a soft spot for all our fellow quitters @Goandygo @FeelingLessTired and hope that you are all living your best life however you choose to do it xx

Goandygo · 05/06/2026 16:06

Hi, everyone, so sorry for the radio silence
I'm actually doing really well. I'm finding a great balance. Working 5 days a week and not starting til 3pm means I can't drink through the day
I'm really loving my new job and if I drink only on a Saturday, it means I'm cutting down massively
I've got my little granddaughter twice a week too, which I'm absolutely loving ❤️
Sorry again for not posting - and thank you @88expertprocastinator for your concern ❤️
I'll catch up now!

FeelingLessTired · 07/06/2026 06:48

Morning. Sorry, I have been hopeless- with drinking and posting and everything!

That's brilliant @Goandygo !

I've had a very stressful time- thank you for thinking of me. I won't go into boring detail, but involved redundancies and job hunting and DC illness and a parent being seriously ill (I'm going abroad long-haul as soon as GCSEs are over).

I#ve not managed to string any meaningful AF time together. But hoping that today will be AF.

I'll go back and catch up on the thread but it's lovely to read how you are all doing. Thanks

Goandygo · 08/06/2026 13:03

@FeelingLessTired gosh, sounds like you've got a lot on your plate. I hope things improve for you.
Yes , one day at a time - for most things sometimes.
Another successful weekend for me. It's funny because I always bought 2 bottles of wine at a time. Now I just get the one. I can't imagine drinking 2 anymore.
So, just had 1 bottle at the weekend - was tempted yesterday in tesco but somehow, it went off me.

OP posts:
Goandygo · 09/06/2026 09:53

After all my positives about not drinking through the week, I was sorely tempted last night. I'm glad I didn't take any money / cards to work as I definitely would have bought wine.
So glad I didn't drink last night 💪

I still havent kicked it. Maybe tonight I start... again.

Just keep trying - it's really hard, but so long as you keep trying 💪

Needtokickit · 09/06/2026 21:00

I have massively reduced my intake just not stopped. I want to and then... life seems to get in the way. I don't get drunk, I don't change personality nothing like that I just drink something every single night and I don't see how I stop doing that. It is like a crutch - worked, parented, walked pets, cleaned house, showered, went to the gym or for a swim, spent time with family - everything gets done and then I feel i need something to unwind.

Goandygo · 09/06/2026 21:12

@Needtokickit yes, definitely reward is a thing
We all do it !
And I hear you regarding life getting in the way.
( sorry, I couldn't find where you've posted before, but what's your situation? If you don't mind sharing with me ?)

OP posts:
Goandygo · 09/06/2026 21:13

Well done for massively reducing though x

OP posts:
Goandygo · 09/06/2026 21:16

@Needtokickit do you have it in the house?
Do you buy it when you want?
Sorry for the questions, just wanted to know x

@Needtokickit
I was supposed to send that a few days ago 😆
How is everyone doing @88expertprocastinator @88expertprocastinator @FeelingLessTired
Despite my earlier posts that I'm on fire, this week has been bad
Also, I'm going to Spain for 2 weeks at the end of this month. I was going on my own
I drunkenly invited someone else and said I would pay !
Well, they only took me up on it - I am now £700 lighter
If I don't laugh, I will cry xx

OP posts:
Goandygo · 12/06/2026 19:48

@Needtokickit
Oh I see now it did send 🤣
I'm such an idiot x

OP posts:
FeelingLessTired · 13/06/2026 07:17

How are you doing @Goandygo . Your invitation-to-Spain-and-pay misadventure is the kind of thing I'd do. Thanks

I'm Day 1 again. And determined to throw myself into it this time. Sigh.

Goandygo · 13/06/2026 08:54

@FeelingLessTired I'm doing really well overall. I have had a few blips. It really is one day at a time for me. The minute I start thinking I've cracked it, I'm on it again.
But I have cut down massively and I always count the small wins.
Regarding the Spain trip, it's not really a problem. The person coming with me is brilliant company and we enjoy the same things - we're both really easy going so it should be lovely.
I just wish I'd have done it sober. It's not even a money issue - it's the things I do when drinking 😣
Hope you have a great af day - you can do it 💪

OP posts:
paintcolourchart · 13/06/2026 09:59

Morning all!

@Goandygo I did laugh at your Spain invitation, sorry! You will have a fab time though.

Nice to catch up on everyone's posts seeing how you're all doing.

I'm sort of doing ok, not completely AF but not 'out of control' if that makes sense.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!
