Dry January 2022

Did Dry January this year and we had an amazing little support group going on here and I wondered if anyone cared to join me next year? This time I'm hoping to stay dry longer - 100 days - but will see how January goes first. I don't want to set myself up to fail.

You've come a really long way from starting the day with a glass and a fag, so let's not lose sight of that!

Slept well last night and woke feeling motivated but had a busy day at work and feeling very deprived now I'm home. I have some AF mulled wine left over from Christmas which I'm going to have in a wine glass tonight, I need that spicy full bodied red taste!!

Would usually be sat on the sofa 2 glasses of wine down by now but I went on a long walk instead. Looking forward to not starting my Saturday feeling irritable and grumpy!

Day 6 for me. Was getting a bit worried that my withdrawal symptoms were getting worse instead of better. Turns out I have covid. One positive of this - my problem with constipation has been resolved. TMI? 😂. Off to bed shortly as absolutely wiped out. Keep strong ladies (and gents).

Playing taxi to teenagers until 9 but OH just opened bottle of my favourite wine... hes clearly not doing DJ. But so loving the better sleep I'm not going to give in. Must keep telling myself that!!!!!

What I find weird is now when I look at all the jokey wine/gin/beer etc memes around I find them a bit sad really. I don't want to be that person.

DH has been a dick today and I've (another) tension headache which makes not drinking a lot easier. I do feel wiped out and could quite happily just go to bed.

I would normally be well into a bottle of cava by now. But am so proud I’m resisting.
Had a really bad blood sugar crash at about 4pm so ate half a bag of pick n mix. Wonder if it’s the lack of sugar from booze. Anyway we are early and once I’m past that point I know I’m pretty much home and dry.
I’m tired and working tomorrow so not too hard to not drink but this is the first Friday in decades I would say that I haven’t had a drink bar shift work and pregnancy! Dig deep we have come this far!

I know! There are so many. So many jokes/phrases too that relate to women and drinking. All the Prosecco references.

Day 4 here, we started when dh went back to work after New Year. This is the longest I've been AF in 3.5 years! Like many of you I'd be thinking of cracking open the wine about now. But made a lovely big meal for everyone of sausage and mash with red cabbage and peas, and we sat around the table and I had a Diet Coke and didn't miss the wine at all! I do now, though!

But dh and I are going to sit and watch some of the bbc "Around the World in 80 days" that we've been watching, and tomorrow I'm going to get a new cylinder for my soda stream so I can make interesting yummy fizzy drinks.

But Friday night .........

Day 4.... thanks for whoever recommended the sober app. I will also listen to some podcasts.

I knew tonight would be my first test but zero alcohol gin ( I don't even drink real gin but the alcohol free one is lush with tonic water) I also had a 5km run after work which normally is the start of the wine/Prosecco drinking but I am holding firm.

I haven't drunk today 😇 but then I wouldn't normally. I bought the bedtime tea and I'm going to have a bath, do beauty treatments then crash out.

Lemon grass and ginger cordial with tonic plus an early night for me. Not missing the wine, but I usually don't - DJ is more a symbolic thing for me.

As a distraction how about we work on finding me a new hairstyle? I'm decidedly fed up with mine and am thinking of going for a crop...but I don't want to look frumpy.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered no clue about hairdos , I think I’ve had the same hairstyle since I was about 11, apart from a brief Lady Di phase
I even had a pony tail when I got married !

Oh like your hair op. If you want a change though, how about a different colour? Projecting a bit as I want to change my hair colour!

I'm on fire after super hot curry. Having a Becks blue and feeling like the urge to drink is easing. It has been hard earlier tonight. I got quite upset almost at the thought I can't drink. I'm definitely overdue a reset.

@MyGhastIsFlabbered I really like your hair! I love bob-length hair. Great colour too.

I'd add a few long fringe bits, and style it into soft waves. Like Megan/Cassie's hair on Stay Close (Netflix).

Yay we are a week down ☺️ cannot believe how quickly this week has flown! It's helping me that DH is doing dry Jan together as we are a bit competitive with each other so there's no way either of us will cave if the other is still going strong 🤣

@myghastisflabbered how about going for a sharper bob and a change of colour maybe chocolate brown x
