Dry January 2022

Did Dry January this year and we had an amazing little support group going on here and I wondered if anyone cared to join me next year? This time I'm hoping to stay dry longer - 100 days - but will see how January goes first. I don't want to set myself up to fail.

Who's with me?

@Mykittensmittens I remember all of those! That was the beginning of me really reducing my alcohol units. I still do 2 completely dry months a year.

enoughisenough100 · 31/12/2021 20:50

So sorry @Elephantino .i lost my dad 2 years ago. He loved Christmas so nothing seems the same since! Definitely going for dry January , hopefully it works out. Wishing you all the best x

Badabingbadatinselbum · 31/12/2021 21:45

Me please, I have signed up. As I have already chosen a couple of nice wines to go with lunch tomorrow I have set the alcohol free period for 31 days from Sunday. I also don't want to feel like I am counting down to the first day of February to have a drink.

I am hoping to lose some weight from around my waist and not feel so crappy after drinking. A hangover massively increases my anxiety and I hope that a month with no alcohol spurs me on to drink less.

Stipagigantica · 31/12/2021 21:48

I’m in. Both doing it this year.

MakeUsACuppa · 01/01/2022 00:45

New year and I am now in the tea, so finally my user name is quite apt!

Surrounding by drunken people and at this rate by the time they've gone I'll be sober Grin

Blondebakingmumma · 01/01/2022 06:06

Hi all
Would love to join!
@pointythings hope you are well, I followed your journey when your husband was at his lowest.

LibbyVonTrap · 01/01/2022 08:44

Is this the official dry January thread? I’ve never managed to complete the full month before … in fact I normally end up drinking on New Year’s Day!

I’m a binge drinker, Thursdays Fridays and Saturdays and it is going to be a bastard of a habit to break so I really need the support

SantaMonicaPier · 01/01/2022 09:03

Morning! Started off dry Jan early and woke today feeling refreshed and positive!

Buntyforgirls · 01/01/2022 09:04

Checking in too! Managed 20 days last January, and 38 days of lent.
Good luck all, and here's to a healthier 2022

angorarabbit · 01/01/2022 09:06

Morning! had a quiet new years eve but I did finish off the last bottle of wine in the house. Not going to buy any more now and hoping to stick with it....all the best everyone!

newbie202020 · 01/01/2022 09:07

I'm in too! I did 3 months during lockdown in 2020 and felt so good. Will be joining for dry Jan and see what happens from there.

IcedCoffeeMilkshake · 01/01/2022 09:08

Morning all- just checking in.

H1Drangea · 01/01/2022 09:19

Morning all , feeling good and positive
We had some friends round last night and had a lovely evening , DH feeling a bit rough as he had a couple of brandies ( I didn’t )

There is a whole bottle of wine in the fridge , which is dangerous and I’ll have to decide what to do with it ( drinking it is not a choice , hide it or pour it down the sink are the two options )

Day 1 . ✅ let’s go !

CrumpetswithMarmite · 01/01/2022 09:34

Ready for Day 1. Good luck everyone! We can do it.

Had some bubbles last night and all leftover alcohol is going to be taken out the cupboards and put in the garden shed today. I lasted 5 days last year but I'm sick of what alcohol does to me - ultimately it is holding me back in living my life to the fullest!

My birthday is mid-Jan so that is the first milestone and halfway to end of Jan.

Hoping to go AF beyond Jan but for now it is a day at a time!

Thinking of buying a pukka tea advent calendar to try a new herbal tea everyday so something different to look forward to/try when it hits 6pm.

Also doing the cliche thing of joining the gym today...!

madmumofteens · 01/01/2022 09:36

Happy New Year!! Checking in had a glass of fizz at midnight then let DS finish the rest first for me lol!! I'm gonna put everything left in the shed removing temptation!! Good luck everyone xx

H1Drangea · 01/01/2022 09:38

@CrumpetswithMarmite, I’m just downloading Apple Music so that when I go back to the gym tomorrow I have some music to waddle / run along too !

Willieekerslike · 01/01/2022 09:45

Morning all. Fell asleep on the sofa before midnight. How sad is that. Feeling a bit rough but can't wait to dry out and get stuff done. Good luck everyone.

MajorityofThree · 01/01/2022 09:56

Emptying the fridge of the half bottle in there. Leaving it is just asking for trouble. Far too much last night so feeling a bit fuzzy this morning and grateful that it's January. Do love a fresh start.

pointythings · 01/01/2022 10:04

@blondebakingmumma Happy New Year - and to all on this thread. Am looking forward to using the stunning tea glass DD2's GF gave me for Christmas for my evening cup of posh herbal tea. Got some tonic, going to get some NOT gin because that did make a very nice adult drink last year and that'll be job done.

We had a very low key New Year's Eve so I'm feeling perfectly chipper.

SantaMonicaPier · 01/01/2022 10:05

I just tipped the remainder of a bottle of rose. Hate the waste but felt very satisfying

CandyLeBonBon · 01/01/2022 10:17

Day 1 today!

enoughofthiscrap · 01/01/2022 10:23

Count me in, I'm a binge wine drinker at the weekends. I've drank a bottle every night for the past 2 weeks & I've had enough. I'd love to lose a stone before the Summer so this is a great start as I won't be eating the rubbish that goes with the wine. I'm going to try walk 10k steps a day too. Good luck everyone 💐

enoughofthiscrap · 01/01/2022 10:25

Also 2 litres of water a dayConfused

Bu2014 · 01/01/2022 10:30

Had a few drinks njs last night, feel rubbish today but already wondering how I'm going to get through the month and beyond. Life has been so stressful the past ten months (newborn and major building works). No end in sight yet. I think I need to rough out the next few days and hopefully things will get easier.
Happy new year and good luck to everyone!

JenTree3000 · 01/01/2022 10:40

Morning
I’m in!
Have managed to give up alcohol for a year before so know that it is possible but have slipped back into the habit. I am looking forward to hearing about everyone’s achievements and using this thread to be accountable to myself
