New thread for the New Year.

Support thread for those who want to moderate and reduce alcohol. Absolutely no judgement, just advice and support. Absolutely everyone is welcome whatever your goals or hopes for 2019.

Am no good at clicky linke but there are previous threads and we look forward to continuing to moderate and reduce in 2019.

Especially today. 14 coming for 3 courses at 3pm and I have a raging hangover to start the year. Fml.

And boogie bounce is trampolines.

It won't end well. Tena ladies will be purchased 😂

Honestly it's brilliant. They go in all weathers and learn to identify mushrooms and whittle sticks and build dens and other nonsense I guilt myself that my urban urchins are deprived of. I drop them off and go to my nice warm office, feeling vaguely guilty but they really love it. Last year when it snowed school closed but forest school powered through the morning and spent the afternoon in the pub, heroes that they are.

I am intrigued by the betting. Good luck with it Dion!

I did trampolining at the trampoline park on Tuesday. Is dangerous!

Oops, dd2 just tantrummed over the absence of a butterfly plate and vomitted blue ice cream. FML Am hoping it's more a case of choking herself by getting so cross while snotty and bubblegum ice cream not being the best idea, rather than proper stomach bug. Fx

Canshopwillshop · 26/01/2019 17:58

Frouby - if you are like me you might also need to purchase a decent sports bra for your trampolining in order to avoid black eyes!

I am really interested in the matched betting but scared cos I don’t know how/where to start. I’m going to re-read your explanation and then see if I can read up a bit more about it.

Frouby · 26/01/2019 18:02

I will definetly need a decent sports bra if I like it. Am hoping that a Fantasie side support full cup and a stretchy vest top over it will do until I know if I will go back.

There is loads of info online, I use the website Profit Accumulator but there are others as well. For most of them they handhold you through your first offer, sometimes 2. It costs £17.99 a month I think but you will make that back in your first sign up.

Am very proud of myself, went out for lunch today, had intended to go to a burger place as I wouldn't be tempted to drink there but there was a queue so we went for tapas instead which I love but would never ever have chosen when trying not to drink. Desperately wanted cold white wine but stuck to water. So this is day 25 AF.

Matched betting, no, still don’t understand even though I'm sure your explanation is good! Am maths dumbarse though...

Very impressed at park run too.

longestlurkerever · 26/01/2019 18:36

Well done water! Heroic

Dionysa · 26/01/2019 20:24

I second you being heroic, Water. I'm a Maths dumbarse, too, so I hope I don't end up losing money if I try this betting lark.

Blue vomit, longest. No, thank you.

I had a small glass of wine with dinner, to keep DS company. This must be how it feels to be normal. I had one small glass, and no desire to have more. This is because I am hungover. But how wonderful it would be if this were how I always felt (i.e. indifferent about wine, not hungover!)

Frouby · 26/01/2019 20:47

It really doesn't matter if you are good at maths or not, honestly it doesn't.

You just need to understand the concept I have explained above. You make a qualifying bet, then take profit from the free bet. You never win or lose, because you bet for a team or horse to win, and also for it not to win so you are covering all outcomes.

Having said that DH does understand betting and he still doesn't get it nearly a year later so I suppose it can be a difficult thing to grasp.

Next week when I do some sign ups I will post screen shots of what I am doing then you can maybe grasp it a bit easier.

Yes please Frouby!! I definitely need a hand-hold...

waterandlemonjuice · 26/01/2019 21:54

Cheers Frouby, I’d like that. How much time do you put in to make £200 a week do you think?

Frouby · 26/01/2019 22:14

£200 a week is quite labour intensive until you build your bank enough to do big stakes. You would have to get on every bet club, and could probably earn about £40 per week doing those. Then you would be plugging away doing the ones that may pay. Once you have a decent bank (I am working with 3k at the minute but want it up to 5k by april) you can do bigger stakes on the decent what if offers (am talking £500 or so) and can really earn big money.

My advice is start with the sign ups, do the reloads then do more research. Bank your profits if you want to carry on, the bigger your pot the faster it grows.

Been out with dh and both dd’s. Really needed a night where we didn’t think about dd being ill. Was so so lovely. Played pool, drink wine, and ate lovely food. All in a little pub on the waterfront. Just perfect and gorgeous. Only thing that’s not gorgeous in the scheme of things, is the fact I drumk an entire bottle of white wine. But then I guess, over the course of an entire evening..is 3 large glasses of wine. But actually fml..I drank a bottle of wine!! Again!!

longestlurkerever · 26/01/2019 22:34

Hold on to your lovely evening Flossie. It sounds wonderful. Moderation will still be there tomorrow.

Dionysa · 26/01/2019 22:44

I second that, Flossie. So glad you managed to have a good evening. xx

NC4Now · 26/01/2019 23:01

Sounds like a lovely evening Flossie and it’s Saturday night. Don’t be harsh on yourself.

Rightwayup · 27/01/2019 08:02

AF last night - was out at a voluntary job - home 11.30 pm so no time

Frouby · 27/01/2019 13:10

Sounds a lovely night Flossie. I never worry about how much I drink if I am out out because it happens so rarely. As long as I am able to stand up and function that's good enough for me.

Moderated last night. 2 x 330ml bottles of beer and half a bottle of wine. Now dry until at least Tues hopefully.

Been allotmenting this morning, bloody chilly up there. Warmed outselves up digging compost and shite into the beds.

Just having a coffee then going to sort the ironing put for DH, then cook a roast chicken and all the trimmings. Homegrown cabbage and sprouts with it today. And yorkies made with our own eggs.

It's ike The Good Life here. But more sweary and giney 😂😂

Putting m to shame Frouby. My kids are eating maccy D's in the back of the car. They are doing Pokémon toys atm which is their no 1 passion. Going to take them to free swimming session now though and try to resist the hard sell on lessons. I have shared 2 bottles of wine with DH since Friday. Not brilliant, not terrible. AF tonight and tomorrow. Undecided about Tues and Wed. Legs are also killing me after yesterday! No more sick though.

Flossie44 · 27/01/2019 13:33

Frouby love that you’re having the good life but bit more sweary. Sounds ace to me!!

Longest...my kids primary school is based on forest school so one day a week they do digging in mud and lighting fires etc. Takes the guilt off me that quite frankly, I’d rather stick pins in my eyes than dig a mud kitchen!!

NC4Now · 27/01/2019 14:08

No mud kitchens here either. DS2 is just home from his friend’s. His mum kindly offered a sleepover after they went trampolining.
I moderated with 3 bottles of Birra Moretti last night.
I’ve got the innards of a steak and ale pie in the slow cooker and may finish the bottle of ale later, unless DS1 turns up and beats me to it.
Then AF till Friday ideally.

Flossie44 · 27/01/2019 15:11

NC4 - what do you then go with the innards of the pie? Do you make the case and shove it all in the oven? I’ve never made a proper grown up pie. I do steak n ale in the slow cooker too (Jamie Oliver style) and the roll out puff pastry, bake in the oven on its own and shove a slab on top on the plate Grin

Frouby · 27/01/2019 15:13

Don't feel too bad Longest. Ds is a veg refuser and will have chicken, mashed potatoes and yorkshire puddings. He may or may not lick a carrot, go mmmmmm yummy then feed it the dog.

Dd is veggie and doesn't like mashed potatoes so hers will be veg, more veg, a yorkshire pudding, some more veg and possibly a roast potato all smothered in shitty instant veggie gravy.

And they had pizza for tea last night for the second time this week. And ds has had pom bears and a jam sandwhich for lunch.

Am just about to remove the bottled beer from the fridge and drink a pint of water to stop me drinking the beers. Can't drink warm beer and I have also emptied the ice cube tray so I can't have gin either.

I do like a swag of something nice while I am cooking but its just habit.

NC4Now · 27/01/2019 15:25

Flossie I’ll put it in a pie dish, roll out puff pastry and cook the whole lot in the oven 😂 I’ll also use my pie bird to give it a more home made look. I’ve done proper pies with home made pastry but I prefer the puff pastry topping type.

Frouby I was a teenage veggie and you’ve just given me a lovely memory of my mum’s Sunday roasts. So maybe in 30 odd years your DD will remember your efforts and smile.

Flossie44 · 27/01/2019 15:56

Frouby - dh refuses to eat veg too!! If a pea so much as dropped on his plate or into the gravy, he screams his dinner is ruined!! Ffs!! His roast consists of meat, potatoes and Yorkshire’s too!! Dd is a veggie also. She doesn’t like any veg tho other than green beans and carrots. So her roast will consist of quorn chicken fillets, green beans and carrots, and a Yorkshire!! She won’t even eat a bloody potato!! Thank god dd2 will eat anything. So I make cauli cheese and other veg for us both!!
No wonder I drink !!!!

longestlurkerever · 27/01/2019 16:55

They'll be getting plates of veggies for tea! If i am lucky one of them will eat the carrots and sniff the brocolli and the other will devour the baby sweetcorn and then demand cucumber. They've also eaten two whole melons and a kilo of apples, plus the wholesome muffins. We were swimming for hours to be fair, and I managed to avoid signing up to lessons, evil cackle (it was free open day but the idea was hard sell I think)
