She is absolutely adorable, I am smitten. She is less smitten with us, but we'll wear her down.

It actually went better than expected - although the planning meeting was dreadful and very long with lots of waffle and needless pedantry.

When we went to meet DD she was still having a nap and I went up with the foster mum to get her up. The foster parents had warned us that she is very wary of strangers and will often cry so we gave her plenty of space and didn't try to rush her into communicating with us. She wasn't too overcome, although she didn't come over to us or smile at us she did let go of her FM after about 30 mins and roamed around the room on her little ride-on toy. FM said it usually took longer for DD to relax enough to get off her lap and go and play.

We are going back tomorrow with DS, he's really looking forward to it.

Fabulous news Bran. How is your ds feeling about the meeting?

oggsdog · 07/03/2009 07:14

Oh that's wonderful .
How old is she?

Flower3545 · 07/03/2009 07:39

Oh I'm so happy for you

I often worry adopters will be upset that lo's don't immediately rush to them but I'd worry more if the lo's did IYSWIM

I have found that the best thing for adopters to do if the child is mobile is sit on the floor, perhaps with a toy/book and often the lo's curiousity will push them into coming to you.

Hope it continues to go well for you all.

That is such lovely news. Congratulations, Bran and MrBran - can't wait to hear what happens tomorrow!

Don't normally read the Adoptions threads as I don't know anything about the process so couldn't really offer anyting.

BUT thought to myself when I saw this "What a lovely thread title" and couldn't resist having a peak.

Best wishes and hope everything goes well for the newly extended Bran family xx

Hi everyone. We are having a day off today and we are exhausted.

She is nearly 14 months for those who asked, and DS was adopted too.

We took DS yesterday and spent from 11am-3pm with her. She is still a bit unsure of us but she thinks DS is the bee's knees. We brought her a present from DS and we also brought a present for DS from DD, so now he likes her too.

By lunchtime yesterday she was resonably happy for me to sit beside her while she ate. Then we all went to the park and playground, she reluctantly allowed me to hold her but cried unless she was close to one of her FPs. By the time we left at about 3pm she was allowing DH to carry her and she spontaneously blew kisses to us.

We're having issues at home and have lots of work to do because we were supposed to have had cabinets installed in the sitting room to house our computers, DS's toys, books etc so that we could turn the study into a bedroom. Unfortunately a tree fell on the carpenter's workshop so we are now just working as hard as we can to clear the study enough to move DS into it so that we can get all the baby stuff out of storage and set up the cot etc.

We only have today and Wednesday to get everything done because on Thursday we move into a holiday rental near the foster family to start the intensive phase of the handover. At the end of that the plan is to bring her home with us, so everything has to have been done by the end of Wednesday. [panic emoticon]

Congratulations

KristinaM · 09/03/2009 14:50

bran - How great she is so close to the Fps ! Sounds like she has no trouble forming normal attachments. Everything you describe eg her wariness with you but preferring Ds is SO age appropriate. fantastic news
