I gave birth yesterday and immediately relinquished responsibility. I have so much going round in my head right now that I hope no-one minds if I blurt it out here.
I will be speaking with social workers tomorrow so I want to think of as many questions as possible. I know without a doubt I am doing the right thing. He will go to a foster family for a few weeks until new parents are found (I was in denial about the pregnancy until only a couple ofdays ago)
How quickly will he be found a new family? Will the new family be in my local area? Should I write him a letter explaining my life circumstances and his birth story? Should I get him a keepsake? Is letterbox contact the best thing for him and his new family? Thats all I want. What is best for him. I want to do whatever is best so he can grow up not feeling abandoned or deserted. I want him to know I love him but I want him to have the best life possible.
Please tell me there are parents/a parent out there who are just about to receive into their life the most perfect beautiful boy, and they will be kind and loving and settled.
Sorry for the brain dump - I've been awake for hours and this is all going round in my head.

I hope this is start of much better times for you and your family.

BrightSunshineyDay · 19/06/2014 16:24

Thank you all so much Grin
I know everything won't suddenly be a bed of roses.I still need counselling, need to sort things out on a practical level - sort out a home. I know it'll be hard for a while.
Just can't believe 12days ago I was thinking of memory boxes and now I'm thinking of car seats!
Yes I did name him in hospital but now thinking of making that his middle name andgiving him a new first name - not sure!

Amazing news Bright, I have been hooked on this thread! So so happy for you!

You should print this thread out and keep it forever, put it in your new keepsake box Smile you will look back on it in many years to come and realise what an amazing strong person you are Thanks

AnotherStitchInTime · 19/06/2014 16:50

Brilliant news bright will pm you later re: the housing situation once I have sorted out my three, all the best x

Haffdonga · 19/06/2014 17:09

Well bloody done Bright Thanks

It's only your strength and persistence that got ds into your arms today. Harness that strenght a bit more now to take your next steps.

So, it's time to get practical. Could you make yourself a bit of an action plan of what you have to do and when you will do it? Top of the list I guess is break the news to your dad and your dcs. Can you do that today? Once it's done, whatever the reaction, you will really only be moving forward towards reuniting your family.

Remember how strong you've been and hold on to that for all 4 dcs and yourself.

Rachie1986 · 19/06/2014 17:09

Fantastic news :-) hope things continue well and he's with you soon xx

Lilka · 19/06/2014 17:48

I'm so pleased for you Bright Smile Thanks

You've got time to make a naming decision - funnily enough I remember reading a magazine article with a woman's story of relinquishing her DS. She also changed her mind, but later down the line, and she renamed her DS when he came home (he was a few months older), she said it was a new start for them

It will be hard, but you are a very strong woman and you will make it work. I hope your DS is back home with you soon x

Mouldypineapple · 19/06/2014 17:52

Brilliant! And you sound so grounded and practical organising everything first, getting your family used to the idea and taking things one step at a time. I feel so pleased for you, I'm sure it will all work out well for you all. Well done.
Hope discussions with your Dad go well too.

I am sure things will work out. The right people know your situation and the most important thing is that you want this to work and are willing to do what it takes to make it work.
