Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on adoption.

Yay! The man from the ministry who rips off the bits of ribbon is back from holiday...

For those few of you who have been following my snail-paced adoption. The man from the Ministry of Foreigh Affairs has found my file stuck behind the back of a radiator, dusted it off and passed it on to the next bureaucrat in line. So its progressed to the Ministry of Education. Hurrah!

Now I wait for a travel date and confirmation of where in Kazakhstan I'll be travelling to - most likely Ust-Kamengorsk in October 2006.

This is the first good news I've had since my file disappered in early June!

Hurrah! (Have I said that already? - what the heck I'm going to say it again...) Hurrah!

Yes it's interesting how some thing like this makes people think it's OK to ask intrusive questions. Thinking about what mine may have to deal with at school today. I think I can take it but hate it when they potentially become more exposed because of some act of thoughtlessness. There has now been quite a lot in the media from the adoption professionals who are understandably keen to point out the correct procedures. An interesting article yesterday in the Observer Sue - can give you the link if you didn't see it.
Have you finished work Sue? i had a similar experience with our third adoption and they took me back during the delay - just thought I'd mention it. Hope you are coping - it's s**y isn't it?

bet there's a queue of people volunteering for THAT homestudy.

still keeping fingers crossed for you Sue. You have patience of a multitude of saints.

Yes bet they are. It would be interesting to see what any social worker would make of it!
Prior to that they'll no doubt have to go to Consultation Day (group thing where some of issues are discussed surrounding procedures, needs of child etc etc)
Know of someone VERY famous going through home study when we were ( and with same sw) and know that theirs took much longer than ours!
Patience is a prerequisite!!!!!

so the story is...

the region I am going to have changed their procedures so the letter of invutation is not sent after 7 wroking days but 20 calendar days. Nice to find that out after 5 working days and being ready to travel.

We can expect our LOI's Thursday next week (where have I heard that before?) an expect to travel a week Saturday, Assuming I can get visas issued on Friday.

or alternatively I could offer to build a school and ignore all the rules

Wishing you so much luck for this all to get sorted for you.

I'm honoured - a thread started about me! It has been an excellent exercise in perseverance.

Someone said to me very early on that intercountry adopion is like therapy for contol freaks - they got that right! Keeping my fingers crossed for next week.
