Yay! The man from the ministry who rips off the bits of ribbon is back from holiday...

For those few of you who have been following my snail-paced adoption. The man from the Ministry of Foreigh Affairs has found my file stuck behind the back of a radiator, dusted it off and passed it on to the next bureaucrat in line. So its progressed to the Ministry of Education. Hurrah!

Now I wait for a travel date and confirmation of where in Kazakhstan I'll be travelling to - most likely Ust-Kamengorsk in October 2006.

This is the first good news I've had since my file disappered in early June!

Hurrah! (Have I said that already? - what the heck I'm going to say it again...) Hurrah!

Underneath the calm exterior you saw quokka, there is a rollercoaster of well diguised emotion. I'm a bit like the terror threat - different levels depending on the risk!

Uwila · 01/09/2006 17:57

Okay, I think I'm going to call you suejonezisbonkers.

suejoneziscalmernow · 01/09/2006 18:13

Bonkers? Moi? You must be thinking of FatFax.

Okay, Swanjonez it is!

suejoneziscalmernow · 03/09/2006 00:44

OK I'm brave enough to post my website now. Here's hoping I can get a good enough connection in Kaz to keep it up to date, after all the effort of setting it up.

here

Sue, I've picked up bits about your progress on various threads and just wanted to wish you all the best for these next few weeks and your future together with your precious child.

suejoneziscalmernow · 03/09/2006 10:26

Thank you very much.

Issymum · 03/09/2006 12:21

Hi SueJonez

I'll CAT you. Good website! How easy did you find it to make the website? It's just that we're thinking of helping the girls to make 'Lifebooks' and electronic ones that they can update, review and share if they want to may be the way to go.

suejoneziscalmernow · 03/09/2006 18:28

I found it reasonably easy - the time it took was really researching the content and being fussy with lay-out and colours etc. If you weren't as pedantic you could knock one together in an afternoon.

I'm not sure how easy it would be to make it private though you would have to email the site as I didn't notice any password protection. It would also be nice to be able to burn it onto a DVD to keep (I will investigate that as an option myslef when I get back). However I researched a lot of "build your own website with hosting" kind of places and for the money (about £25 a year for 20 pages and 100 photos) this one was most flexible and gave best result. I tried a few of the free offers before settling with this one. You get one month free to try before you have to pay which was more than enough to convince me.

Glad you liked it, it's always difficult to find the compromise between boring people to death with irrelevant info, keeping some stuff private and giving people a flavour of whats going on.

Uwila · 04/09/2006 13:35

So, are you still calm?

Nanou1 · 04/09/2006 13:53

Hi Guys! Sue - your web is great. am so so happy for you. just to think junior will be here for Christmas... this is so exciting!!!!!

beemail · 04/09/2006 18:40

Don't get on here too often - busy with children of late but delighted to hear your news and can sympathise with the short notice and subsequent panic! it's amazing how it can all come together in the end!!
Good Luck with all the last minute preparations. Will enjoy reading about your progress om website. Looks like DH will also be in Kaz shortly too! Was amazed to find it's similar size to India I had no idea. Good to put face to name too!

suejoneziscalmernow · 05/09/2006 22:28

Latest news is travel dates pushed back a week as invitation from the Kaz govt won't arrive in time for visa to be issued. Phew. Suejonezisdefinitelycalmernow.

KristinaM · 06/09/2006 10:04

how are you feeling? relieved? Disappointed?

suejoneziscalmernow · 06/09/2006 11:53

Slightly relieved as it does make some of the paperwork requirements a bit easier to achieve, will be disappointed if it slips a bit more, but am fairly relaxed about it at the moment. I just have to learn to go with the flow - I have no doubt this kind of thing will happen for the next couple of months!

april74 · 06/09/2006 12:17

Glad to hear that things are finally moving for you.

beemail · 06/09/2006 18:30

Yes. the stop start thing is not uncommon and was certainly a feature of our 3rd adoption. Good Luck Sue - more time to mooch around the baby departments!?! Will it def be a baby?

Wow sorry really didn't look like it had gone and it obviously had x3 (blush)x3!

suejoneziscalmernow · 06/09/2006 19:00

lol - most likely to be between 8 and 18 months so could be anything from baby to toddler depending on delays.

beemail · 06/09/2006 22:11

Fingers crossed that any delays are short ones!

suejoneziscalmernow · 08/09/2006 17:28

I provisionally booked my flights today - leaving 26 September, returning 11 November.
