30 People Turn up to Tess Daly's Book Signing

here

I wonder why.....?

Why do these z list celebrites think that anyone is remotely intrested in reading (letting alone buying and queuing up to have it signed by said "celebrity") a book they've written about their experiences of having and rearing a baby? What makes them think that their experiences of something that most women do more than once themselves anyway so fascinating?

OP posts:

"proudly wearing her wedding ring"

wtf?

lucykate · 21/03/2010 12:13

i feel for her though, bet as soon as she was clear of the paps she burst out crying!

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 12:16

The market for those books is small and temporary. People who are pregnant, for the FIRST time, and I'd say you could narrow that down again to people who've planned their baby and have been trying for a while, and you could narrow it down a bit more to all of the above who have 15 euro to spend on a book and the time to read it.... it's a small target group.

nancydrewrocks · 21/03/2010 12:16

Wastwinset harsh matybe but she is well known in the industry for being a smug diva - ish PITA.

So cannot summon up any sympathy. Karma and all that....

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 12:16

Fab, her rings are lovely. I wouldn't throw them back! might throw vernon out tho

FabIsGettingThere · 21/03/2010 12:49

I agree they are nice but where do the get the nonsense she is proudly wearing them?

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 13:00

Yes, she's shiftily wearing them imo!

cyb · 21/03/2010 13:02

Only 30? I had 48 come to my book signing

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 13:06

how much was your book though cyb! 48X7 might be less than 30X16....

cyb · 21/03/2010 13:07

Excuse me it was a coffee table tome, RRP £50

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 13:10

Good! nice. Can you retire now?!

cyb · 21/03/2010 13:10

Well not really as I'm currently in talks with Cameron Macintosh to put on a stage version of it

Spidermama · 21/03/2010 13:28

I'm with Custy. There's no need to be mean. Particularly as she's having a shit and humiliating time thanks to the arehole antics of her husband.

WingedVictory · 21/03/2010 14:02

fewer than 30 people!

Tsk, tsk, illiterate Daily Mail.

samsonara · 21/03/2010 14:09

these type of books are ones's I'd rather borrow from the libary than buy, but if I was given one as a present as a newmum, I'd appreciate it, but I wouldn't really queue up at abook signing, I have only ever done that for one of David Attenbourough's books

toomuchmum · 21/03/2010 14:14

Say it like it is Genevive.

It seems a bit mean to laugh, but she is obviously so self absorbed.

Tess, give up, no one is interested!

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 15:45

The only people who were in the queue were all called Dave Gorman. I mean, Tess Daly.

I'm not being mean. It's just a very niche market really.

UnquietDad · 21/03/2010 15:55

It's a bit of a spiteful article. Many authors would be happy with 30!

Maggie00 · 21/03/2010 15:59

OK well if any posters in this field (loosely speaking) are ever in Eason's Dublin flogging their book/cd/song/tour, cat a certain Maggie and she can be number 31 in the queue. Might even bring an entourage of 2 or 3.

SpringHeeledJack · 21/03/2010 17:02

Spiteful Article In Daily Mail Shock!

...ere, did anyone hear last week that Anthea Turner had to cancel a speaking event because she only sold two tickets?

IngridFletcher · 21/03/2010 17:12

As a teenager I worked in a huge W H Smith. We had Jim Davidson in to sign his DVD and no bugger turned up. He was shown round the shop, signed a DVD for a girl in the office and went home. I cannot stand the man but did feel a little sorry for him...for 5 mins and then I sniggered.

belgo · 21/03/2010 17:16

TBH if someone told me I could make a few quid by writing my baby memoirs I would probably jump at the chance. Esay money.

And I would be happy if 30 people turned up wanting me to sign it!

smallorange · 21/03/2010 17:20

I skimmed a few pages of Jools' effort and still feel nauseated by the references to her and Jamie's sex life.

smallorange · 21/03/2010 17:26

Whenever someone links yo the DM I find I can't tear myself away

SuSylvester · 21/03/2010 17:27

aaaw
