Place your bets ladies on who planted the camera???

Mark or her Mother are my guesses

MrsBabs, reading the thread again I don't think anyone was shouting for SS to take th children away

I certainly wasn't

I was expressing concern for the children, who would not be concerned for any child being given such poor examples of how to live your life?

I agree with Reality though, that they are probably well-cared for in the physical sense, SS would be unlikely to do anything

My thoughts on this (and they are worth nowt of course) is that she needs to sort herself out, for her kids sake, and stop banging on about her bad childhood. Does she not see a pattern here ?

She has had help it appears, or at least people have tried to give her good advice, but she seems hell-bent on destroying herself

Megglevache · 17/08/2009 10:19

yep, models use it as a form of weight management.

Portofino · 17/08/2009 10:19

Well to me it isn't news - it's just sad. (Lowest of the Low) NOTW readers obviously feel the need to have someone to look down on and judge to make them feel better about themselves. Immigrants, gypsies, KK - probably doesn't matter really. The more sensational the better.

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 17/08/2009 10:27

It was my impression that some were saying the kids should be removed, I'll take your word Anyfucker that this was not the case (as I can't be arsed to read thread to prove/disprove my inital impression.)

Think we can all agree it's sad and worrying and damaging for the kids though.

KK's psychological, emotional, realtionship, dependency, and serial failure issues look like they're very deep and complex and unlikley to be solved by the 'pull youtrself together' school of thought. She can't pull herself together, despite I'm sure wanting to, or she would have done so by now. Somehing drastic will proably have to happen first I'm afraid, where help and change are her only options left, and I'm afarid that this NOTW story probably isn't it.

AnyFucker · 17/08/2009 10:32

I know MrsBabs, by "pull yourself together", I meant "seek proper help and accept it"

Badly worded statement by me there

And I think there was maybe one or two posters who said take the kids away, but generally not

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 17/08/2009 10:47

I don't think you said 'pull herself together' AnyFucker. (I obviously skim posts and then reply wildly on half baked impressions!)

Looking back, you said 'sort herself out' which is obviously a whole different psychological school of thought .

I saw another headline somewhere:

"yo-yo dieter Kerry has a greasy kebab on night out!"

The horror of it! How very dare she!

stillstanding · 17/08/2009 13:49

Am v confused about this ... How it can possibly be legal for someone to plant a camera in her own house?

NorbertDentressangle · 17/08/2009 13:53

Maybe the "someone" also lives in/has name on the mortgage of that house.

I just can't get over the fact that theres a big open bag/tray of cocaine just sitting around in the bathroom for anyone (ie. children) to come in and find.

TheCrackFox · 17/08/2009 13:54

It certainly explains why she was declared bankrupt. Seems like an awful lot of money goes on drugs.

LadyOfWaffle · 17/08/2009 13:56

Hmmm, much as I dislike Kerry for the way she seems to parent, what about Brad and all his pot smoking? How come that is portrayed as cool? And Kate Moss??

Spero · 17/08/2009 14:15

KK gets a kicking because she is common and a bit fat, frankly.

I remember reading an interview with Kate Moss when she said she was always there to put her daughter to bed. I thought really??? I can't believe that Kate Moss is NEVER under the influence of drugs when around her daughter and yet very few people wanted to see her child in care.

Portofino · 17/08/2009 14:45

I can't believe that it is legal to publish the footage.

Aitchiswaitingforalegalopinion · 17/08/2009 20:32

someone on here knew her yonks ago when they worked in a call centre. apparently she was a genuinely sparky and charismatic girl, particularly kind and funny.

Snorbs · 17/08/2009 23:12

MrsBabs, you may believe that SS intervention in such situations is limited to monitoring and assessment but that opinion is not supported by my experiences. SS were very active in directing my ex towards all sorts of support services while making it very clear what they expected from her. SS also gave her the benefit of the doubt on many occasions and gave her opportunity after opportunity to demonstrate that she was making some kind of progress. As our SW put it, children's social services has a lot of experience in dealing with parents who have addiction problems.

Over in the lone parents topic there's another chap who posts occasionally who's been detailing his experiences with his drug addicted ex and SS's interventions; I believe that his ex recently walked out of the rehab clinic that was organised for her.

So what are your direct experiences that support your view that SS only monitor and assess?

MrsBarbaraKingstanding · 18/08/2009 07:58

I work with SS with childen in care. of course SS has lots of expreinece with addiction problems.

There are support services SS will direct people towards them, they are somewhat limited and very dependent on peoples commitmemt to engage, which is often, paticuarly in drug cases not consistent.

AS you say SS will then give parents lots of opportunities to try to demonstrate they can care for thier childrem, this is montoring and assessment work, the bulk of what they do.

The idea that there are varied and extensive support programmes that if told about them people will engage with and commit to and that if they engage they will be successful, is just a little naive.

Things often just aren't that simple for people struggling with layers of psychological problems and drug dependency like KK.

SS try their best and have some success, but ultimately their job comes down to a tough decision, can this person care for these children, are they better here or in care, can this person maintain change in their life etc etc.

I'm glad you're experience has been good, for many people it is, I hope KK eventually gets help and can do what she needs to do.

It's just not always that simple is all I am saying.

SleepWhenImDead · 18/08/2009 09:08

Iceland have finally done the right thing- I was horrified how long they were using her to be the face of Iceland, it said a lot about the kind of people they were trying to attract to the store. Couldn't be more down-market if they tried.

tinseltot · 22/08/2009 09:49

How can anyone behave like this when they are responsible for 4 little children? Sickening. Those poor kids.

minko · 05/09/2009 22:17

Brian McFadden is fighting for custody...

I think his efforts sound a bit half-baked though. He wants to take them to ireland for 6 moths to a year whilst Kerry sorts herself out. What kind of parenting is that? The kids won't know whether they're coming or going. And what about their schooling?

Sound like he doesn't want to give up his nice life in Oz with Her-out-of-Neighbours to me. Maybe his mother is leaning on him a bit...
