OMG, have just seen a clip of Kylie being interviewed

in Cannes and I can't believe how much botox she's obviously had. I've only seen photos of her in the last few years but watching the brief interview was scary - her face doesn't really move. I always thought that this was once cosmetic procedure I would go for if I had the cash to spare but this has really put me off. Kylie looked rather freaky

Omg kylie looks hideous and I have always thought her lovely. And the woman on that you tube has a whole new bloody face. The world has gone mad!Get yourself some avon derma fill slap it on at night and hey presto Everyone has noticed my skin less lined and I have tried everything and nothing else worked.Have considered botox but something always stops me.i agree you don't look younger just weird. No one does really some celebs look glam but still their age.Why are we all obsessed with looking younger than our own kids?

Can I just really rave about Body Shop's Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream? I have also tried loads of creams and this one really seems to make a difference to my skin. Not saying it is miracle cream but my dd noticed a difference saying I looked 'less wrinkly' and 'softer' Probably the wrong thread for this but I am quite shocked at the artificial 'waxy' look of botox here

Did anyone see that Guardian article a while ago about botox/fillers? They gave before and after pics of Nicole Kidman, Kylie, Madonna, Courteney Cox and Jennifer Anniston. All bar Madge deny having had botox or surgery. All of them look exactly the same, pointy chins, high cheeks, full lips, waxy forehead. It was very depressing reading.

oxocube · 26/05/2009 20:57

Pinkteddy, I think that's what I find so sad - that they all look like carbon copies of each other. That is not beauty

Yes that's the article thanks boys. I didn't know if the online version would have the pics.

Oxo - they do don't they? Its so stark in those photos. What's even sadder is that older women are just invisible in the public eye. I'm sure even Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep et al who are praised for their youthful looks have had work done.

fishie · 26/05/2009 21:17

i'm not so sure. i look a bit like that, as the fat which made my face look young is going and more cheekbone / jawbone emerges. am 40 and not wrinkly either, part genes part keeping out of sun.

disclaimer: kylie looks like a hot water bottle.

AitchTwoOh · 26/05/2009 21:41

lol at hot water bottle.

i just can't believe kidman, though. and aniston and kidman have (quite rightly imo) had their noses done.
i like julia roberts' face, do you think she's been done? if so, it's a good job.

fishie · 26/05/2009 21:45

look at st jade and her mum in the side pic, there is a similar thing going on.

i always want to think the best of julia roberts.

cocolepew · 26/05/2009 21:49

Apparently they are all getting 'fillers' now, instead of lifting the face they are puffing it out. That's why they all look the same around the cheeks.

Pillow faces, instead of windtunnel.

monkeytrousers · 20/06/2009 16:16

actually botox is really helpful for film acting. Less is more.

monkeytrousers · 20/06/2009 16:22

god that kira cockrane can't half go on

monkeytrousers · 20/06/2009 16:26

And I always remember what Aloha told me

If they say it's yoga and water, it's botox - if they admit to botox, it's a facelift

Like Madonna falling off a horse 2 years ago (which gave her some handy convalescence time out of the media eye whlile the swelling went down) and re-imetrging with a new face - and a fake plaster cast

Easy as falling of a horse!

monkeytrousers · 20/06/2009 16:28

re-emerging

castille · 20/06/2009 16:32

That Tracy Mountford needs to gen up on her dried fruit. You don't get prunes from grapes, dummy.

DeborahBorr · 20/06/2009 16:33

Looking at those Guardian pics - even you'd gone to school with Kidman and she'd not become famous and still had the work done, I just don't think you'd recognise her now.

In teh recent Madonna pics in teh news re her lastest adoption, I found her unrecognisable.

Podrick · 20/06/2009 16:48

Having fuller lips compared to when you were aged 20 doesn't happen naturally as you age!

They all seem to have had nose surgery and cheek implants that have changed their face shape!

monkeytrousers · 20/06/2009 16:52

I think there is more to it than the old 'sexism' bogey. I think it's got more to do with women competing with eachother, rather than men demanding this from them. Doesn't fit the 'blame the patriachy' template though

MarshaBrady · 20/06/2009 17:07

The guardian pics are interesting. They don't look young or particularly old after all the stuff is done - but they look so fresh faced in the younger shots. Courtney cox was very pretty, although j anniston looks a bit better these days.

The worst is the fillers all lumpy and pudgy, plus youth is mostly in the eyes Botox can make them look smaller.

TheSmallClanger · 22/06/2009 15:08

Marsha, what you are saying is right. They cannot look young any more because they are not young, or not as young as they were. That youthful, fresh-faced look can't be copied.

Too much botox=face like an embalmed corpse.
