your parents are being selfish

they're putting their emotions before yours and the boys

it's adding fuel to the fire

Waltzywotzy · 25/10/2008 11:21

It's good grags that MN is here (us) and in our bubble of this vitrual world we can give words and our friendship and also feel we can hide and not have to face RL sometimes, but at the end of the day, MN does stop RL in some little (or large) way. If it is addictive, step away and ask MN for a ban just so you can lurk. They can do that.

As Tnog says your family's needs and wants must come first. As for you lo and the behaviour, there are not clear cut answers. Very upsetting for you and this must make you feel very sad. I have no advice for this I am afraid and if I did, it would make me sound like a right knob! We have all been confronted with situations we have no idea how to cope with, you do your best and your best has to be good enough. Don't think otherwise. DC's don't come with a manual.

Sparkles

Craggy · 25/10/2008 11:21

yes this thread feels safe, somehow.

you are as always correct about my parents. I spoke to them last week and told them that all we argue about now is the fact they will not speak to him. mum is bringing up past, as always.

in past few weeks oh was acting terrible. dad phoned him and was very very very aggressive. I feel it was needed. oh is hurt and angry at what dad said to him, threatened him with various things I believe. I refuse to listen to message.

i was at her house for 5 hours yesterday and I just sat, not speaking, it was quite strange.

thank feck oh has job with NO ipod.

Craggy · 25/10/2008 11:21

I work with lots of children whose parents have split. its not nice.

Waltzywotzy · 25/10/2008 11:24

I will lurk abit today as there is some tension here. Lots to do and I didn't get up till late.

Feel much better for a big sleep though.

I took so long to type that that other thing - that you have posted so much in the meantime. Probably will again when I hit 'post message'.

Tn0g · 25/10/2008 11:27

Wotz is right, you do your best with love and sincerity and that's all you can do.

One thing that I think is true, is that when you have children they always come first, their needs are paramount, we have to take a back-seat.

Waltzywotzy · 25/10/2008 11:27

You need somewhere to offload
I like it for that. I don't need much in life, but I have nowhere to offload in RL. Just can't be done.

Tn0g · 25/10/2008 11:29

Same here Wotzy.

RL friends don't like to talk family problems everything has to be perfect, bit like a swan

smooth on the surface and feckin' chaos going on underneath.

Craggy · 25/10/2008 11:31

No I have nowhere to off load either. yes, dc are most important. thanks as always

speak soon

sparkles love to you. will be watching.

Waltzywotzy · 25/10/2008 11:31

I was thinking today about that poor family in the m6 accident, and it makes you think, how fragile your family can be. Trying not to make this turn into a sad thread, but give your family the attention and love they are asking for. Kids don't care if their parents don't come up to scratch, they just want their mums and dads to be there for them. I am sure your dc's name calling is to get you going. Just don't rise to it. Ignore it and walk away for 5 mins, go to your room.

Craggy · 25/10/2008 11:33

Yes, that was so sad.

You are correct Wotz.

It's for attention. He needs more attention.

keep well.

Tn0g · 25/10/2008 11:37

True Wotz

Life is fragile

My dad never spent anytime with us that was fun and bonding, he was always too busy, too caught up with other people.

I think it's suddenly dawned on him since the grandchildren have arrived just how much more important it is be around for children, to devote more time and energy in them than yourself.

To listen, to hug, kiss, fool around tell them you love them, you're proud of them

I need to do all that with G
