Blimey, Walter Koening (chekhov) the other day and now sir Patrick. 😪
Great actor, he did ut all. Stage, comedy, drama, sci fi and marvel.
The upcoming Avengers doomsday.film will be his final work.

Journey to the stars 'engage'

A fab actor and such a voice.
Let's not forget the work he put in about women's rights and domestic violence against women.
A thoroughly good egg.

Very sad news. Great actor.

Awwww, R.I.P. Patrick Stewart! Next Gen was my favourite of all the Star Treks!

CheeseWisely · 29/10/2026 20:21

Very sad. I remember him coming to open our new school library when I was a kid (his nephew was a pupil).

TheTecknician · 29/10/2026 20:21

He did a few spots on Family Guy. I wonder if he was a fan?

Lifeomars · 29/10/2026 20:21

A wonderfully accomplished actor, very sad news

emptygoosenest · 29/10/2026 20:22

It's sad news, a good actor and a decent human.

When I graduated from university he was at alternate ceremonies in his role as chancellor (?), I got the one that he wasn't doing.

my son graduated from there too, disappointed we had only a video of him
speaking to the graduates, a wonderful sonorous voice though
we really hoped he would be there on a dull wet Yorkshire day, 14 years ago

Dfg15 · 29/10/2026 20:23

Such sad news, i absolutely loved him. I read his autobiography a couple of years ago, thoroughly enjoyed it

Letstryandgetitright · 29/10/2026 20:26

Oh I hadn't heard this news.
How sad. I feel really quite shocked and upset about this.
We were looking him up in Wikki only last week because we were talking about his friendship with Brian Blessed. I knew he was a good age but even so this has taken me by surprise.
RIP Patrick.

Rinoachicken · 29/10/2026 20:27

This has really upset me. I was abused as a child and when I felt scared and alone I would imagine him rescuing us with the Star Trek crew and taking us away to safety.

And when I was an adult and in an abusive marriage, he was featured in a domestic abuse training video I had to watch at work, talking about the impact on him as a child seeing his mum being hurt by his dad, and that was a real moment of awakening for me in realising I had to get my children out of the situation. It was like he was rescuing me as an adult how I had always imagined him rescuing me as a child.

I listened to his audio book of his life recently and thought about writing him a letter, to tell him what an impact he’d had on my life, but didn’t because I felt silly and thought he’d probably never get to read it anyway. Wish I had now. 😢😢

ChristmasStars · 29/10/2026 20:28

Oh no that's really sad. Great man.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 29/10/2026 20:29

May he rest in peace 🖖✨️

Rowgtfc72 · 29/10/2026 20:29

Very sad.
Make it so Sir Patrick.

forgivingfiggy · 29/10/2026 20:30

Feel quite upset by this one. I know he was older and had a good life. He reminded me so much of my dad, who we also lost this year.

afaloren · 29/10/2026 20:30

Very sad news. We are both huge fans and even named one of our cats after a character he played. DH in particular is a massive Trekkie and is genuinely really upset.

I was lucky enough to see him on stage a few times and he was incredible. Always seemed like a good man too. RIP.

Sad news. He was in a very good Frasier episode.

One of my favourite episodes - I would have gone to Bertolucci's villa in Capri with him!

He did a few spots on Family Guy. I wonder if he was a fan?

He was deputy director bullock in American dad so probably why he was in FG as well. I have his line about dirty pennies stuck in my head right now from the ep where meg falls in love with joe and tried to feed susie.

Me and dh literally had a convo about what star trek actors are still alive after seeing about chekov.

Sad day indeed.
