Who’s the nicest person you know?

Inspired by a conversation with DH
For me it’s a work colleague. She’s genuinely the nicest friendliest woman I’ve ever met. She’ll go out of her way to help other people and shes got the most positive outlook on life despite some really tragic things she’s been through.
So who’s the nicest person you know?

Such an interesting question!

My OH is genuinely the least judgemental person I know. He’s not super ‘nice’ though in the sense he doesn’t seek out people to help (although he is generous with his time when the situation arises). However, I struggle to think of something ‘nicer’ than being genuinely accepting.

On the flip side I know someone who you would definitely describe as super ‘nice’ and they are, but it’s driven out of a massive lack of self esteem so their ‘nice-ness’ in a weird way is filling a hole they have internally.

The woman who ran the charity that got me out of street prostitution. Fabulous woman, the nicest, kindest, best person in the world. Takes no prisoners, stands for no nonsense, biggest heart there ever was. I would be dead without her.

My 18 year old son. He's so kind and patient. He just has this calm vibe that steadies our whole family. We're so lucky to have him.

I think it is my mum. I don't think she's ever been unkind to anybody and I've not been even slightly annoyed with her since I was a teenager and annoyed by every adult ever 😂

A good friend of mine. She has no side. If something nice happens to me she is genuinely happy - absolutely no envy - and if something bad happens, she’s terrific.

I once worked for a short time with a woman like that OP. She was wonderful and never saw bad in anyone.
I met her on a short term job creation scheme and when the project finished she actually gave me a typewriter - this was quite a long time ago - that she didn't use so I could learn to type to enhance my job prospects. It was quite a heavy thing and she and her H even brought it round to the bedsit I was renting even though she lived in a different town. I still remember her after all these years and how kind and positive she was.

BarbaraBadass · 23/10/2026 20:05

A school mum. She’s just the most lovely being, is always upbeat and never has a bad word to say about anyone. Shit for gossiping with though, and actually quite hard work if you’re not in the mood for being made happy… bless her.

Enko · 23/10/2026 20:09

My friend Sue.
She just exists and have time for others without being intrusive yet always present. Never heard her say a negative word about anyone. Not yet (known her almost 20 years) met another person who knows her who doesn't think she is just the kindest woman ever.

My youngest child (DS15). Always had a natural empathy even from a very, very young age. Can talk easily to all age-groups (my 90-odd year old mother and her chums etc). He will always call-out poor behaviour with his mates and appears to have a mature understanding of how to handle relationships with girls etc. Good, fun company as well.

A woman I work with. She's also one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen

Undones · 23/10/2026 20:38

The woman in the mirror.

Gabor Maté worries about nice people as they're usually the ones who become ill.

My husband ❤️

izzyolomidebuzz · 23/10/2026 21:07

My friend’s daughter - the daughter has so much pure love for people in her heart, and she does so many little thoughtful things for her mum (my friend) who honestly doesn’t notice or doesn’t realise most people wouldn’t bother to do those little things! She is polite and cheerful outwardly, very aware of making an effort to leave a friendly exchange. Similar to those people mentioned above, she doesn’t have much to be so cheerful about but she has a drive to do anything for people and animals. She’s astute and sharp and funny, and I sometimes wish she was my daughter (I have sons, who of course are great, just different. ) !! I sometimes want to tell my friend she should give her daughter a hug now and again - or laugh at her humour!!!
OP, this is a really heart warming and inspiring post, thank you, I had to comment. It is nice to reflect on how we can take heart from others. X

My SIL

In over 20 years I have never heard her say anything nasty or unpleasant about anyone ever

You're okay if you're lucky in life, or if you somehow develop the backbone to withstand almost anything like @DreamingOfGeneHunt 's lady.

As a mum is 3 sons your post made me smile.

My youngest one is similar.

My grandma. She has spent her whole life helping other people while asking for nothing/very little in return. She looked after me and my sister all the time when we were growing up, was a brownie leader for years for no pay, tutored children for free as well as teaching part time. She still volunteers at a hospital cafe sometimes and she’s 89. She has said before that she would love to help me with my children but obviously I would never expect that of her at her age. She just always thinks of others.
