I love getting ideas from other peoples meals, I generally cook from scratch and try and avoid UPF but try to take a common sense approach.
I'm feeling board and looking for inspiration.

Monday
Frozen pizza with added toppings, salad.

Tuesday
Burgers, coleslaw and potato wedges
(All homemade except the buns)

Wednesday
Sweet and sour pork with rice
(cooked from scratch)

Tonight we are having chicken fried rice. I'm roasting a chicken and will use some of that, along with the leftover rice from last night and some veg from the fridge and freezer.

Tomorrow I will make a chicken curry with the rest of the chicken.

I'm impressed with everyones dinners. I've made homemade vegetable soup with French stick for DH and me and tortellini in tomato sauce for foster son Monday, gammon steak, egg, pineapple with chips and peas Tuesday, quarter pounder beef burger in a bun before live football match Wednesday. Today we had a late lunch out so DH and I didn't have dinner but gave foster child a pizza.

Due to various health stuff, I need to reserve my efforts for other areas of my life. So meals are all about convenience for me! Luckily, there’s no one else to cook or budget for. This week has been:

Saturday - Aldi frozen quarter pounder with cheese in a brioche bun, with a few French fries
Sunday - steak & stout stew with cheese scone dumplings (Cook), roast potatoes & Yorkshire pudding (M&S), peas
Monday - slow cooked beef Ragu (this I did batch cook a few weeks ago), rice
Tuesday - chicken arrabiata (M&S)
Wednesday - Thai red chicken curry & rice (Cook) with a mini naan bread
Thursday - cottage pie (Cook) and petit pois
Friday - chunky cod fish fingers, French Fries & beans (all M&S)

All tasty, easy and still lost a pound this week (have lost 1.5 stone since the beginning of July, but don’t feel like I’ve been on a miserable diet).

Hats off to those who cook from scratch, especially when you’re dealing with multiple people and their tastes. I find it annoying enough deciding what I want myself each week! Over the next month or so, I’ll batch cook a chill and probably a chicken curry, but that’ll be it for effort until after Xmas.

I ended up having crisps on Thursday night when I got in.
So last night I had the salmon (my fridge is running very cold so it was still not fully defrosted) with the leftover cauliflower cheese, both baked. And steamed baby potatoes.

Quite frankly I need to eat better but I just can't be arsed and have what feels like zero time to cook (I hate cooking)

Monday - pork steaks and veg
Tuesday - fish and chips and peas (from home not chippy)
Wednesday - finished the pack of fish off.with baked beans this time.
Thursday - I can't actually remember 😆
Friday - Chinese. Definitely regret it. And have a huge gallbladder issues today.

Food is definitely a means to function rather than a particularly enjoyable event in my house 😆

Fiddlesticks1 · 17/10/2026 18:52

Monday & Tuesday left over roast beef lots of veg.
Wednesday- Nigel Slater’s pork meat balls which I had batch cooked. They went into a casserole with about 200 ml of chicken stock and sliced large orange pepper. The last ten minutes I threw in a heaped teaspoon of wholegrain mustard and some fresh cream. Surprisingly good.
Thursday- home made chicken soup from freezer
Friday - was going to be take away but ended up egg and oven chips.
Tonight- was going to be fish but may well be a sandwich.

I didn’t go food shopping at the weekend (just too busy), I had the salmon darnes baked with a baked Parmesan crusted courgettes on Saturday, a lamb knuckle ion a sort of red wine and tomato casserole with veg included on Sunday. Monday was lasagna, yesterday was my slightly withered mushrooms fried up, slathered in a packet of mushroom sauce and thrown over mushroom filled pasta parcels.

I am not back in my apartment now until Sunday, I have a beef bourginonne that needs to be used up (treat from M&S slow cook range last time I was home). And I am also back here the following weekend so only need 5 dinners next week. I will probably just do “milk, potatoes, tomatoes” type shopping next week and work out of the freezer (I have a pizza base/good mozarella/proper pepperoni for 1 night, spag Bol and lamb rogan Josh from previous batch cooking, and some cooked roasted veg and ikea meatballs to add to Tom sauce and pasta. - or pesto pasta or pasta carbonara from fridge ingredients).

ChoccyHobknob · 21/10/2026 20:43

Limited diet due to intolerance so...

Lamb grill steaks from asda with broccoli, cauli and green beans

Pork loin steaks marinaded in chinese salt and pepper rub with cauli, green beans and broccoli

Soup I made with chicken stock from Sunday - green lentils, celery, carrots, courgettes all on slow cooker

Roast chicken sun with carrots, green beans, sweet potato and ff gravy

Mon we had takeaway so I had mixed kebab meat, DH had pizza.

Sat I made a lamb curry in slow cooker - lentils, courgette, coconut milk, oregano, guram massala, turmeric and coriander. Was gorgeous.

(Diet wise no wheat, gluten, dairy or nightshades hence so limited). DH usually has chips or rice or potatoes with his.

Breakkie is usually scrambled egg with avocado.
