Botox - yep. Once it starts moving/sinking, you inevitably look older. It's also more youthful to make facial expressions and when you don't, it detracts from the perception of youth. People forget, it isn't just lines or wrinkles that humans look for or respond to.

No I'm sorry @Awkwardisfunny this is not true, I've been having Botox pretty much yearly if not twice a year for over a decade, I've yet to experience being unable to make facial expressions, I'm a teacher so my students would cop & tell me 😂 also during Covid I had a longer gap, almost 2 years & I can assure you my face didn't collapse in on itself like something out of Indiana Jones, in fact because Botox prevents lines from deepening it acts as a legitimate anti-aging solution

Give it time..! and of course you can make some expressions but the point is to prevent your muscles from moving so there will be some expressions you can't make as easily or as fully. Not sure why you're arguing facts about how that poison works(!)

I don't know how much you inject, how long you have been doing it etc (well, 10 years*) and I haven't seen your face. Before or after. So, I'll just stick with all the evidence of what I have seen in person and on TV.

(Also: do you know what happens long-term when you have been paralysing those facial muscles for so many years... It is NOT a suitable long-term solution to minimise aging. Eat well, hydrate, exercise, moisturise and stay out of the sun. Pray you got good genes. That's it.)

About 80% of men are inferior to women. Just not as capable.

After love, the next most important thing we owe our children is the best education we can manage (for me as well as most others, that is state ed. but we need to stay firmly involved as parents).

Oxytocin is a way our bodies trick us into accepting dodgy partners and marriage.

Human migration is normal. Has always happened. And we can no more stop it than we can stop the tides.

hard disagree with 1 but yes to the rest

I respectfully disagree. I’m not British born, as you know, but I’m very frustrated with the benefits system. I don’t feel any better thinking it’s a British citizen claiming when they shouldn’t vs a non British person. I think, the nerve to game the system. The nerve to take something that you don’t need where if everyone contributed, those who actually can’t would have more?

I don’t know how rare it is really. In my time in the Uk I have know several of my friends “nannies” or “housekeepers” that are paid in cash and claiming benefits because they “don’t work” and/or they have small children. And being housed. I can think of 5 real examples in the area I lived in (Surrey) of the top of my head. Whilst I think many will in fact be entitled to benefits there are also many that work the system. It would be a lot less resentment if everyone did their bit. But no government is bold enough to actually do something radical.

But… it’s not my problem anymore, my husband and I were so disillusioned with the UK that we left the UK a couple of years ago. And we miss it, weirdly enough I think I miss it more than my husband and kids, but it was right for us.

BTW, Australia and Canada have restrictive immigration but you can still do so, depending on your profession. I know we are lucky to be able to have moved, not everyone can.

I know I won’t convince you and that’s ok 😁. We will have to agree to disagree. I would hazard a guess that your view stems from being born and bread on the UK and mine from being an immigrant most of my life.

I did enjoy our “debate” and I must thank you for keeping it polite, which I find it a rare event on MM.

Edited to say: love your username

Edited

Ahh thank you, I’ve enjoyed debating with you too and as you say, it’s not always polite on here and people get aggressive. We’ve managed to disagree but respectfully.

Perhaps part of me assuming “It doesn’t happen too much” is because it would boil my blood to think it happens more often so, ignorance is bliss for me. My DH is a higher rate tax payer with quite a stressful job at times and we don’t qualify for CB or anything else benefit related at all and we’ve made all the right choices to have the life we do and it definitely winds me when people could work but don’t.

I think many of us are disillusioned here at the min and I guess that breeds bad feeling. Having to wait 10 hours in A&E, can’t get a Doctors appointment, it’s just a mess as you will know. I’m pleased you found pastures new and I hope life is treating you well. I’m jealous I can’t leave as I’d love to move to Spain ironically so I do regret Brexit as now I can’t. I have been looking at how much holiday homes are so we could spend a few months there a year but I’ve not told my DH yet so might have to stick with hotels for now 🤣

Yes who the fuck gives a 6/7 year old chinese takeaway or fizzy drinks? It’s mental.

My 6 year old has Chinese. I will caveat it by saying it's a twice a year thing.

Point 2… Would it not be women and men that choose? What do you mean by prioritise? I have read it as by prioritising those things, you wouldn’t be able to work. Is that what you mean?

Would it not be women and men that choose?

Women and men don't choose to be mothers though, do they? I am talking about women and only women can be mothers. Men choose to be fathers. You see?

I have read it as by prioritising those things, you wouldn’t be able to work. Is that what you mean?

Not necessarily. I don't think it's ideal that mothers go out to work full time, especially when children are young, but I understand it's not always that simple.

ClawsandEffect · 13/10/2026 22:43

Yo808 · 13/10/2026 22:37

Why would you choose to have children then since you can’t have one with a superior female being?
Why is state education the best you can do?
You need to migrate
To Lesbos

Quite happy here thanks. Greece is far too hot now.

I'm working class. State ed is what is available. Topped up with tutoring, supervised homework and parental support.

Cheap lip injections make you look like you have a trout pout 🐟

Well it's been 12 years & counting & no adverse side affects.. I also stay out of the sun, hydrate & moisturise, obviously

Also I do not inject myself, that would be bonkers, my lovely reliable doctor does it for me

Fair point you have not seen my before/after face so I don't blame you going for extreme versions you have seen, sort of like going to Jackie Stallone to pad out your argument against plastic surgery rather than say Michelle Pfeiffer

Gettingbysomehow · 13/10/2026 22:55

Gender bollox. Whole generations mutilating themselves for nothing and thinking anyone can possibly take them seriously especially the non binarys wtf!

Cats rule, dogs drool.

Men are a totally alien species and I want nothing to do with them.

DontyMon · 13/10/2026 22:55

The Western world is suffering from a crisis relating to a lack of empathy, which leads to horrifying attitudes towards people who migrate, and people who suffer from mental, physical or educational disability. The fact that people think that people should have fewer rights because of where they happen to have been born is terrifying. This shows itself in the language used about migration, for example, Brits who move abroad are referred to as expats, not immigrants.

I also think that the crisis of empathy is largely led by algorithms. It has become completely acceptable to use dehumanising and derogatory language about people.

True! Not sexist to point out the truth. I know some good blokes. But they're in the minority. Far too many male idiots walking around who are inferior to their wives/mothers/sisters. They need to fucking man up.

Without white patriarchy, a lot of men would be unemployed and unmarriageable.

Darling, I've had bad experiences with men of several different shades/nationalities. White privilege it turns out though isn't an entirely good thing.

Kickinthenostalgia · 13/10/2026 23:02

some people should never be allowed dogs. Or at least should be some sort of course you pass to own one. I’ve owned dogs my whole life. the amount of people I see out with thier dogs, disrespecting other people and thier dogs. On the back of that, people who walk thier dogs in the height of summer during the hottest times (over 25 degrees) should be prosecuted, it’s cruel and by extension animal cruelty.

You don’t need to take dogs shopping or to restaurants with you (unless it is a guide dog) it’s not fair on the dogs for a start and not fair to other people who don’t like dogs either.

I don’t really care for fireworks, they are boring imo, I’ll watch the New Year’s Eve ones, but the others I usually lose the will to live. I do however understand people do like them and even though I have a dog, she’s a puppy still, she’s not a fan, I will try to make her as comfortable as possible whilst they are on. A local school had thier annual fireworks display today and omg the comments on facebook about it not being fair to animals etc. people get really nasty for no reason, especially knowing the area we live in is a bonfire society.

my last one…
common sense isn’t all that common anymore

If I moved to a different country and was housed , fed and clothed for nothing because the natives of that country were forced to pay for me I’d expect not to be made to feel very welcome by most of them.

WhoGives2Fucks · 13/10/2026 21:55

And that’s why I said they need support to meet their personal and individual needs. That’s is where the money should be spent as a priority instead of non Brits.

The veterans that find themselves on hard times and difficulty adjusting to civilian life absolutely should be prioritised and I can assure you most Brits would agree!l

They are actually prioritised already. They get priority for social housing and they get extra resource allocation specific to veterans. As they should.

With regards to your other point, where does it end? For some (not all), it is a continuous cycle. It's not simply a case of meeting their "personal and individual needs". I am working with a man at the moment - he is a serial domestic abuser, drug user and has a history of violent offences. He has been homeless a number of times - evicted due to damage to the properties, non-payment of rent, anti-social behaviour and assault on other residents. Yet, if you spoke to him you would find that he is always the victim. It's not his behaviour that is problematic etc etc. He refuses intervention. He doesn't acknowledge the harm he has caused. He will go back to prison again and again and again. He will continue to trash any property he is provided. He will not pay a penny towards the upkeep of his children and he will claim benefits for the rest of his life. And we will continue to throw resources at him because ultimately, if we don't, then he or someone else will come to serious harm.

Pets are not the same as children
We are cuddling children and young people too much
Social media and AI are significantly detrimental to the developing brain and we should not be able to go near them until we're 18
Age of consent should be 18
Not everything is SEN. Sometimes it is just parenting
Unless your kid has needs that mean they can't learn it, not potty training your child in time for school is lazy and absolutely ridiculous

Men who have wives that work, contribute at least 50% financially, who run the home, deal with 95% of stuff for the children, while the bloke is just... there. Scrolling, doing very little. I see families like that all around me. Wastes of space. When the divorce inevitably happens, they either don't pay CM or do and whinge. They claim to want 50/50 custody, but don't know how to care for their own children. Meanwhile, post divorce, the ex wives blossom.

Hecksonaplane · 13/10/2026 23:12

Not sure why dogs shouldn’t be somewhere that serves food, it’s manky people coughing and sneezing without covering their mouth or using their hand to do so then touching the cutlery, wipe their face/noses then communal doors and handles, people going to the loo and not washing their hands - maybe there’s a hill here I’d die on!!

Balloons and fireworks should be banned.

phones playing videos and music in public places without headphones should be banned or taken off you and chucked out the nearest window if on a train 😁

stopping at the top of stairs and escalators should be punishable by always having to walk behind a toddler for the rest of the day

spitting in public punishable by having to wear a mask for a designated length of time but a shitty mask that shows you’re a tosser

oh and not picking up dog poo punishable by having a bag of dog shit tied to your wrist for a full week regardless you’re at work, bathing or eating bet you wouldn’t see it in the streets again
